@@OrdinaryThings it's quite easy to see why it didn't catch on to quickly, though the massive gaping hole in your head would make it difficult to reattach your head with your hat.
@@myristicina. Yeah smooth criminal, but that was when he started to look good with fedora's, cause for some reason, Michael looked like he was wearing it wrong in the early 80s
I have actually seen 3 adult (non-retired/'old-old') men pull off the Fedora. so far i've narrowed it down, it requires; -the right body type (slim-medium) -at least average looks -a *good* and stylish outfit that fits the hat -confidence -at least a vague reason to wear the outfit & hat. and *oh boy* did those guys PULL IT OFF. it *IS* possible.
'at least average looks' LOL "Well that suit and fedora IS sharp. But alas.... I'm just so dam ugly, it will never work. Egor!! Bring me my ragged hunchback cloak!-"
So what you're saying is... These are the guys who are bringing sexy back? It's about time I haven't been hard thinking about men since the death of the bow tie.
Why did the CIA director John McCone cover up facts about assassination? There are alot of dumb baseless conspiracy theories out there, but JFK wasnt one of them.
JFK conspiracies are the mother of all others conspiracies. Before that conspiracy theories wasn't a thing. Besides the communists fear and some UFO sightings of the 50's there was nothing and thoses wasn't mainstream. People back then relied mostly on newspapers and radios to be informed. It was another time.
He also failed to go into *why* fedoras are so prevalent in that SUB-CULTURE. I'm no expert, but I'd imagine it stems from traditional western dress and etiquette (always wearing a hat) sticking around the Caribbean a while after it had passed in the US and UK. Jamaican immigrants came over to the US and UK wearing hats and bringing with them their music, thus the hat was infused with that culture.
It's about fedoras it's not that deep, just accept it, YOU killed the fedora with your boring ska conversations about fedoras you guys don't even talk about ska music just different fedoras with different colours, I mean yeah it's pretty anti racist but at what cost? Of comparing a human to a fedora? I think you lot have done enough for racism thank you very much I am not a fedora, we are not fedoras, no race or ethnicity wears fedoras so don't bring that propaganda here to dirty new minds who haven't even considered a humans value akin to a fedora get out of here you neo Nazi fedora ska fake punks. Anyway the specials were cool just don't mention fedoras please I get flashbacks, thank you so much for your support RU-vid comment section I love you all so much keep up the good work brothers and sisters.
Ballistic vests shall be common fashion, and the fact that this guy made a JFK joke with no remorse leads me to say that ballistic vests will be very fashionable to America students.
Body armor is more or less common in neighborhoods where just going outside would render you dead by gunshot or stabbing, be thankful you don't have to wear full body armor lest you die the moment you open your door
@@danielsteger8456 yes I'd prefer my chest to be as protected as my dick is when I go outside. With a condom on and some body armor too I am invincible.
I used to be a lifeguard at a shitty waterpark, and one time I saw an overweight kid with a mario shirt and a fedora go into the lazy river. I've rarely seen such a good stereotype
@@RealShrigmaMale Yup, with that miserable short brim of theirs. Looks good on casual freelance jazz saxo guys. Or baristas. Fedoras though are another barrel of fish. Good looking, classic mens hats. That you can wear with a suit. And look the part. Or you can try a leather hat or a Western one. These are dope as well.
Then just me, wishing casually wearing something more formal was at least considered tolerable on the day to day as I like looking what I consider nice. Luckily I don’t associate any of that with ‘masculinity’ or any of that trash
As a bald man I now embrace the fedora as an alternative to the boring ball cap. It has better sun protection too. I’ll be rocking mine whether mainstream accepts them or not.
Or try real wool cowboy hats. Seriously. Great for gardening, can handle rain, winter snow, and summer sun. Durable and functional, yet black ones fit in with many situations. Just don’t overdo it, know your audience and rock the fedora for grocery stores or more formal affairs.
Personally I like fedoras but then again I'm biased as my great grandpa used to wear one and a suit..every day..just because that's how he always dressed. The hard part is getting people to realize that a trilby is not a fedora proper..that's one thing that does get on people who like fedoras nerves, the average Joe and Jane on the street think that a Trilby is a Fedora..it isn't I own a few trilbies as it was my first non baseball cap hat, I own a Scala crushable fedora as it was a decently cheap start to owning an actual fedora as my great grandpa was literally buried with his favorite one and any others just kinda disappeared apparently..he died before I was born so they probably were either sold or taken by relatives.
@@johnerwin9024 Mid 1950s to 1960s fedora are ugly because of the small crown, making the head look big and the brim is tiny. 1920s to 1940s brims were right and the measurement cuts were right and stylish
I have a pre-fedora hat. And I wear it all the time... It makes me look like a 19th century gentlemen. I don't care, people think of me as if I came from the Victorian era.
@@AA-hg5fk So once again my head has a better purpose in life besides growing a mullet in the 2020's then going bald in the next 20 years. A world where your haircut barely matters and only the fit and the colour palette of your hat to your clothes do.
Eventually fedoras will become uncool enough to become ironically cool again. I'm getting one and putting in storage to be ready for when the pendulum swings back the other way.
The thing is, the fedora is very much a formal-looking hat. It's an accessory to compliment a formal-looking suit, not a t-shirt and jeans. I genuinely believe that if people wore it with a suit, rather than casual wear, it wouldn't look nearly as bad. It would still look bad due to the neckbeard reputation around it, but it wouldn't look quite _as_ bad. I do wish that people could make more of an effort to dress nicer, but I am hardly one to speak. Besides, there's a reason why formalwear fell out of fashion: it's expensive, a pain in the butt to maintain, and just generally uncomfortable to walk around in. I think the closest we can get to a modern fedora, for the time being, is the humble hat. Just plain old hat. _Maybe_ a flat cap, if you aren't over the top about it, but even that is pushing it.
It also depends with the context of theme of a certain party or evening. I feel an old man can absolutely rock a fedora. There is this guy in "Double Toasted" channel and he rocks a fedora like a king
I always have a hat on my head. If it's cold, I'll wear my ushanka. If not, I'll wear either a baseball or flat cap. Unfortunately, all my baseball caps are either really dirty from use or falling apart in the back, so I've been wearing my flat cap exclusively for months now.

The part I love about the history of the fedora is that it never stopped being what it was invented to be - a piece of costume meant to signify masculinity.
As someone from Indiana, I’ve never heard any non-American say anything about Indiana let alone be able to describe our Walmart’s that perfectly. This man really does all his research and I respect that
Fedoras only go well if the rest of the outfit matches them. Something about them makes people want to try to make them work with other kinds of styles.
@@alexanderleuchte5132 Your Prussian overlords seem to have tainted your mind... Also poor Italians, it's not their fault they don't know how to make Schnitzel
The coolest person to ever wear a fedora was Sokichi Narumi, a private detective in the Japanese port city of Fuuto. He even wore it over his helmet as Kamen Rider Skull. His former apprentice and successor, Shotaro Hidari (Kamen Rider Joker) wears a fedora as well, and Sokichi’s white fedora with the lightning-shaped tear in the brim still hangs on the detective agency’s door-mounted hat rack to this day.
I subscribed a few weeks ago, but I keep coming back that "removed the top part of his head altogether" part. Everyone I've shown it to finds it hilarious
I've never used a wallet in my entire 27 years of life. It's a scam invented by pickpockets so that they can take away everything of value in one snatch. I, for one, am a littered pockets enthusiast. Even I don't know for sure where my money or credit cards are, then a pickpocketer will surely have problems. Wake up, sheeple!
That outro paragraph was straight poetic! That outro alone earned my sub, and doubly so after it concluded such a concise and interesting history of something I just thought of as a hat too conspicuous to be a modern fashion accessory.
This was the first video of yours I've seen, and it was top notch. Great editing, joke writing, and full-narrative about a subject. Thanks for posting! Subscribed.
Im a classic menswear enthusiast who wears suits (or odd trousers/jacket) everyday. With a trench coat or other overcoat, a fur felt or wool fedora is practical bad-weather wear - keeps light-moderate rain and snow off you
This is my new favorite channel! Your videos are so well done and your sense of humor is on point! Can't wait to learn more about some insignificant ordinary thing you make a video about next
saw this on r/mealtimevideos, watched the whole way through i was super surprised to see it only had 3k views, i thought it'd be much bigger. gl and keep making these
Honestly I think Fedoras still look great, and _are_ socially acceptable (if it works on you). It’s _triblys_ that are associated with cringe culture so much nowadays, people just think that a tribly is a fedora.
We need a Trilby, Fedora, and Panama hats Renaissance, they are great hats that when worn with a classy outfit make you look like truly well dressed man or woman.
Omg I have a stack of fedoras in my closet two are made of different tweeds both are part of my "james bond in Cabo look" I can't stop laughing I'm crying
GENIUS! You've put so much into this thread, that I don't know where to start, other than the aforementioned label. LEGEND (to clarify) Nice work. Nice 1. NICE
My grandfather never went into town without being dressed to the nines, complete with a trilby or fedora...not even just to go to the Co-op to get feed.
Just discovered your YT Channel and subscribed. I've never wore a fedora until recently, I just purchased two fedoras, a straw and a wool felt; I think they kinda different and cool, literally because they shield me from the sun (and the rain (:=). You well spoken and easy to listen too; Good Luck in growing your YT Channel. SUGGESTION; don't know your local, but 'Farmers Markets' are just starting this time of year where I live, they're fun??
