The River Is Rising

This was filmed in April just days after SRP started releasing water back into the Salt River. The wild horses were really enjoying having their river flow again, as were all the creatures that rely on it to sustain life. April was hotter than normal this year and the 68 degree water is helpful in staying cool while hiking there. Enjoy and unmute the speaker icon at the bottom right side on the video.

Beautiful boys! I really enjoyed the background music, its perfect. I visit the Onaqui herd in utah quite often and what a dichotomy in its surroundings, you have so much vegetation and water. Where as the Utah herd is in the west desert, near the old pony express route.

Thank you so much for your comment! Wild horses can live in some very harsh environments and thrive. They are amazing!

Great video. Wow. I wonder if someone checks on them or goes to help them. Leave them some apples. ?

Thank you so much! They have many of us living in the area that check on them and photograph them. They are managed by a group and if they need help they are there for them. No apples or carrots. It is not part of their normal diet and can cause chocking and death. Please never feed wild horses anything. Their habitat provides all of their dietary needs.

Feeding animals in the Wild causes many problems and can cause death, whether it is a squirrel, a bear or a horse. Feeding horses foods they are not accustomed to can cause Colic, which can be fatal. Feeding Wildlife causes them to become dependent on people, to the point that they 1. lose their freedom and their natural ways, and 2. can be devastated by people, lured to different sites that have no water. Respect Wildlife and do not feed them. Keep Wildlife wild!

@@jollyoneful I would **not characterize SRWHMG as "being there for them." They've lured them away from their water source and away from shade, they've taken away their wild nature, they've made them dependent on man, they've turned them into a petting zoo, and they do not fill the water troughs on a timely basis which leaves many of those water troughs EMPTY. They are betrayers of the horses and those that cried out for their freedom and lives. The original cry was "Keep them Wild and Free", and now many of them are neither, and many of those horses are dead! IF they *had to move them away from Butcher Jones' Recreation Area, they should have moved them to the RIVER where there was food, water and shade. If you continue to defend the traitors, I will unsubscribe. I thought you loved the horses! Their habitat *does provide all of their dietary needs, but SRWHMG fed/feeds them rich Alfalfa which they were *not accustomed to and which could/did cause Colic! This *after SRWHMG had told the public to NOT feed them Alfalfa or hay, breaking their own word! I am *sorely disappointed that you are defending them as supposed caretakers. They have lost the respect of tons of Arizonans because of their sneaky, underhanded, traitorous ways that have harmed the horses very badly! 🤬😡
