The River's Divide is a feature length documentary following Donnie Vincent on his two year bowhunting quest for a single whitetail buck notoriously nicknamed 'Steve'. Set against the beautiful backdrop of the North Dakota Badlands, an amazing story unfolds as Donnie experiences the highs and lows of chasing a single animal in the middle of the vast wilderness.
"It's a film with a soul, something largely missing from TV/video/film coverage of blood sport." - Field & Stream
"Mind-blowing. Mesmerizing. The production quality, story-telling style and cinematography is the best I've seen, anywhere." - RealTree
"However, like all rivers it seems to ebb and flow; much like Donnie's journey for 'Steve', much like life. Do yourself a favor, set aside some time, be patient, and watch The River's Divide....it is worth every moment." - Bowhunting.com

I just watched Donnie Vincent and a couple of his videos today for the first time. He describes the feeling most of us have when hunting, if your a true hunter. The emotional a spiritual attachment to the land and animal. I look forward to watching, "The Rivers Divide" and many other. Keep up the great work!

Donnie Vincent I didn't think it was possible but it was even better than I thought it would be. It was honest. It was raw. It was poetic. It was absolutely awe inspiring. Keep doing what you guys are doing because you have touched upon the heartbeat of what hunting really is all about.

I just got this video in the mail last night and am so pumped about watching it. The normal hunting shows with their trophy bucks don't do it for me anymore. This video has soul, as Field & Stream put it! Thanks for your extra efforts in creating this.

It's really an excellently produced captivating trailer. You don't even see a picture of the deer until the very end, but are still drawn into the story the entire time.

Sicmanta You fellas do great work... but I don't get the "vimeo" thing... the HD is NOT any better than what RU-vid offers... not to mention it doesn't cost anything, and you can apply for monetization... Just curious.

ONEILLOPS Personal preference I guess. We use all of Vimeo Pro's different tools - it's a clean, user-friendly, professional interface that allows us create portfolios and share private projects with clients. It's also ad-free, but like I said - more personal preference than anything. Thanks for the kind words! Look for our next trailer very soon!

Captures the essence of what its about! Last year I had pnuemonia left lung 3/4 full of fluid. I couldn't even lay on my back because I would basically drowned and gurgle all the fluid. Hospital admitted me for 10 days on 1st day of my hunt-cation. nurse left the room I gathered my stuff and I left and went bowhunting -5°F, 25mph winds, in waist deep snow in northern Michigan and shot the buck I've been after for 2 years. Long story short the hospital called the state police issued a warrant for my arrest because I was no longer under my own will to just leave the hospital. they called my work, my work called all my emergency contacts, The place I was at had no cell phone service everybody thought I was dead for eight or nine days. I shot that buck I passed out for roughly 40 or so minutes dragging him out of the woods in waist deep snow. To be extraordinary must do extraordinary things. I believe if you're going to take the life of an animal It was only right that I at least put my own life on the line to match. I was an inch from death that day. Best day of my life! If they had to drag my body out in spring clutched to the Horns of that buck then so be it! If you are gonna do it, go all the way or dont go at all.

Just purchased this off his web page. I’ve been trying to figure out how to watch it. The VHX was suppose to send me an email and never has. Tried logging and resetting a password but can not make any head way. I feel like they just stole $20 from me. I have tried contacting both DV and VHX. It is supper frustrating.

I’ve never heard of Donnie Vincent until a few days ago when I was reading a book that he was in. I purchased the movie due to the nature of the movie and his approach to harvesting game animals. My honest opinion of the movie was that I didn’t enjoy it at all. Personally I find that the score of a movie is to support the story and at times bring an emotion to a scene where it aides the storyline, in this case I found it a poor choice and disingenuous. The music was a distraction and many times was simply distasteful. You will notice the crescendo of the violin right at the point of either scene change or a moment in which the scene is reaching its zenith, it’s truly not required and I find that director’s use this to the dumbed down masses that are incapable of realizing the moment and the essence of life. 3 minutes of scenery with an overload of orchestral distraction only removes the sounds of nature. The hunt, Donnie’s passion and respect for all things nature is the story and I find the throbbing of a cello only a distraction where the stunning vista’s and beauty the God has given us is the only thing required.

Why in God's name would you know a deer, name him, follow him, understand his ways, and seek to snuff out his life? It seems like murder to me. It is more than getting a meal. Why can't you just let him be? The only time I ever killed a deer is when he was hit by a car that drove off and left him with a front leg and a back leg broken, his bones piercing through the skin, and his guts spilling out on the Earth. A vet also stopped and said he could not be healed from his wounds. I knelt and stroked him and spoke to him soothingly. The vet fetched a shot from his truck with which he euthanized the deer. When he had died, we put it in the truck so he could be disposed of safely. It made me very sad, but mostly upset with the driver who had hit and run and took no care of the suffering creature. Do you love animals, or do you not? I saw you just now on Joe Rogan and was so thrilled with your description of living with the wolf pack in peace.

You called it a ‘ blood sport ‘.. hunting shouldn’t be sport. It should be there to keep you alive if and when you need to eat. I do not hunt, I’m not against it, but I don’t eat meat. I would if I had to. But to kill something for sport. That’s fucked up
@balderdashery1
@balderdashery1 9 лет назад
How many bow hunters kill on the 1st try. Probably .001%. Therefore you are dooming these magnificent creatures to a slow, agonizing death. How many animals are never found after being punctured with these things. There is nothing natural about humans hunting, when only the biggest, healthiest animals are sought after. Wolves and other carnivores take the weak and sick. They provide balance. "Hunters" do not.
@TruePathFMX
@TruePathFMX 8 лет назад
+balderdashery G A good bowhunter, one willing to invest this amount of time and money, makes a clean and precise shot that takes the animal in 60 seconds or less. This is a far quicker, more "humane" way for an animal to go die. The successful recovery rate is far greater than what you say, the lost kills are in the 0.001 percentile. Now don't get me wrong, there are hunters who chase too early and drive animals deeper into cover after the shot and create lost quarry. But the same can be found in vegetarians (I'll assume you're vegetarian or vegan, otherwise you have no argument if you eat super market meat) in that 0.001 percent of "vegetarians" will eat bacon or fish or even chicken yet call themselves vegetarians. Predators do not provide balance, the create extinction. Wolves and bears prey on the young, or females with young. Killing the calf kills the next generation and killing the females removes the chance at more offspring. Your concern for our wildlife is appreciated.

Nothing natural about hunting? If it wasn't for hunting you and I wouldn't be here right now, do you have any idea what you are talking about? Most animals shot with a bow die within the same maybe a bit more or less as a rifle, do you think our ancestors just lived off twigs and berries, think about that, I myself like Donnie Vincent have the same ideology, taking the life of an animal that is older and weaker that will not likely reproduce or live another year, honestly I'm not trying to be rude, I am telling you the true reason for hunters doing what they do, I grew up doing it and it's the only thing I do, I live for it, when I was 12 ( the legal age to hunt in my province) I started hunting myself before that I've been hunting with my dad and family/close friends all my childhood, I'm 18 now, in my 6 years I've purchased 3-4 tags a year and have only killed 2 animals in my 6 years of hunting, I could fill all my tags every year if I wanted but that's not how I hunt, I hunt for the challenge the trophy and the meat, I look for a true old mature animal to harvest, their as big as they are for a reason!they are smart! Being within 10 yards of these magnificent animals being challenged every time I go out by that one big old mature herd bull is an experience everyone should see for themselves, I promise if you came with me your mind would be changed forever and you would have a tremendous respect for what I do, thousands of dollars going into gear to hunt a select few animals every year that I may not even harvest, it's no the killing itself, it is the experience all together, a mind blowing experience that lives with me forever, my respect for these animals is so high, the challenge and conservation of these animals is my life

i used to bowhunt, i switched to rifle. I personally have never wounded an animal with a bow. as a hunter, I am posting because this guy is right. bowhunting is all about ego and selfishness. we all know he is right about all the wounded animals. i'm a lifelong hunter so i wish i could argue with him. every bowhunter says he is just hunting for meat but it's a lie. I am here to say that if anyone who bowhunts claims they have any concern for our wildlife being killed in a clean, ethical, manner, then they are just lying to themselves.

I love bow hunting.Bow hunting is extremely challenging.You have to have knowledge of scent control,wind,and stand placement.As far as ego goes in my opinion my ego is fine.I love nature and animals and also meat.I rifle hunt as well but harvesting a deer with a bow is how my ancestors done it and I love knowing I can provide fresh meat in a primitive way.
