Great video. Came here after meditating and the question of “What is surrender?” popped into my head. I’m certain I was destined to find this video. It gave me a self revelation. Thank you.

Thirty or so years ago, in the emotionally traumatic depths of a relationship breakup I meditated with my pain and found no escape from it until the moment I "gave up" and allowed the hurting to just be. The result was an immediate, what might be called Satori. An experience of bliss and relaxation. This lasted as long as it took for my conceptual faculties to try to grasp the experience (minutes?). But I guess the ripples of this "experience" continued to reverberate for another thirty years and finally bore fruit in Awakening. I now see clearly that there is no waking up without what I call "radical surrender". There's no achievement, just this relaxation. May your words continue to be a guide towards this surrender.

There's was trauma in my narrative until all emotion was allowed and the story of being made to suffer from the outside disintegrated and the truth that all the suffering was created by the mind was revealed. It was terrifying... Complete surrender and allowing everything was the gateway to liberation. Then the first real emotion work finally started. Pure truth to all the self created suffering revealed itself, all the repressed emotion of a lifetime was able to be released, piece by piece, bit by bit. Beautiful. Perfect. Surrender. Tears, laughter, sadness, joy, serenity.

powerful stuff, Angelo. One of the less mentioned aspects of your videos that is so capturing, is the sounds you have in the background. They are really, profoundly effective alongside your words of pointing and eye contact.

I'm not referring to emotional work, which can be painful, of course, but isn't it possible that Grace is Love? Isn't it possible that when we surrender that we fall into Love more fully? Sorry if this does not make sense. No one needs to reply.

Do you think the practice of letting the ego/self fall away i.e. telling yourself "the 'I' is just a thought" and focusing on nothing or impersonal being/consciousness is a valid practice that brings one closer to awakening? Or do I have to work with the ego as long as I still experience myself as a person/body-mind-entity? Another way of phrasing this question could be: can seeking the peace of impersonal being or impersonal consciousness become an obstacle to awakening?

You can't focus on nothing or consciousness though. What you conceive as nothingness is either a thought, a mental image or a feeling no matter how subltle. I say check out Sifting To The Truth surrender videos. He lays out a systematic way of getting to experience these states.

all talk of surrender is like pinching brown sugar from a brown sugar image of Lord Ganesha and offering it as a food offering to the same Lord Ganesha. you say you offer your body soul and all possessions to God, but were they ever yours that you could offer them? at best you can only say “i falsely imagined till now that all these which are yours were mine now I realize they are yours I shall no more act as if they are mine”. this knowledge that there is nothing but God or Self that I and mine don't exist is the one true jnana. I was high AF on some good ass Missouri medical weed when I was meditating and woke up I’m not lying I’m the fucking universe bruh lmaaao. All joking aside how may I schedule a call with you? ADHD OCD PROZAC SAVED MY LIFE I ALSO worked as a FF/PM and death I think woke me the fuck up yo. I know the universe made me wake up so I can help out other suffering lost souls through music. I’ve been chasing this dream since 6th grade. I know it’s my soul purpose. When I say I, I understand this is a thought concept in this brain. I need to talk to you so bad. I need to figure out how to help my family. It’s not even about me. If not that’s cool too. I’ll go smoke some more weed bc it makes me present AF and chill while making some beep boops. I also think I might have Asperger’s syndrome lmao I took a couple IQ tests high AF and I wasn’t really trying and I’m not saying this egotistically im legit confused as to what the fuck is going on in this life now but I had two epiphany and I don’t understand why. I understand one. I can’t understand two. I can type all day bc I slayed in world of Warcraft for 15 years so this would be much easier to tell you via conversation. Uhhh. I should prob shut up now. Have you found that those who these messages resonate with generally have experience with psychedelics? I ask because 1) the importance of surrender is just one of many overlaps I’ve found between the mindsets and practices that facilitate awakening and those that facilitate positive experiences with psychedelics and 2) if it weren’t for my experiences with psychedelics (especially 5-MeO-DMT), this awakening stuff would all sound like complete gobbledegook to me.
