Great review... I agree with everything..especially about The Who (they were awesome live)...and thank you for giving Brian Jones the credit he most definitely deserved...
Hi Kathy Thank you. In regards to Brian Jones I feel that a lot of people still don't know how important he was as a musician not only for The Rolling Stones but also for popular music in general.
Thank you very much Professor I'm a fan of the Rolling stones since 1965. I really enjoyed your review. You got another subscriber as I would like to hear more from you. Thank you again for all your work and sincere passion
Thank you Francesco your so kind don't worry there will be a lot more videos uploaded to this channel very soon. It just takes me a little bit of time to make them.
Thank you for doing a great job of this documentary, I first saw a glimpse of this on an Old Grey Whistle Test end of year special, hosted by Anne Nightingale 1981 into 1982 new years eve and it was The Who's Quick One. I loved hearing all the knowledge that you brought to this and would like to see all the out takes etc. Thanks again for shedding more light on this and I recommend watching an interview with Michael Lindsay Hogg who filmed the event, it's on you tube, CHEERS!
Oh, and, there’s definitely 2 versions of A Quick One. The one that’s not blacked out when Moonie tosses his floor tom and has a few more close ups of him keeps getting pulled from RU-vid
Great presentation Professor, thank you. If it was possible to upload the audio from the bootleg with Brian's rhythm guitar parts audible that would be great!
Hi Rob glad you like my video unfortunately I'm not allowed to upload the audio bootleg of The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus but you never know it might get released officially on the box set. Please stay tuned to this channel for more videos.
I was 14 at the time and my parents were saying that all the angels I loved deserved to die, so it is terrific to hear a lot of GOOD about all the true artists I loved back in the day. BTW, I read the 411 that was going on with this difficult project in Sanchez's Up and Down with the Rolling Stones, but luckily I can't remember any of it. ...Nowadays, any review is replete with snark and bitchery about sex and addiction to titillate the idiot masses...Thanks for your wonderful review, it is a commentary that does justice.
Townshend says original plans were to tour the USA by rail (Stones,Who,Small Faces) like a travelling circus. Meetings were held but it was found the state of the railways were too bad to make it viable. Jagger then moved towards a tv show format.Small Faces probably werent invited as they were days away from breaking up.
I don’t get why they didn’t released it at the time. The Stones had the best performances. Everyone talks about the Who, but for me that was a good performance of an okay song. The best songs of the show were ‘Sympathy’ and ‘Yer Blues’. Marianne’s performance of ‘Something Better’ was great, too. After those, I would choose the other Stones songs before the other artists.
To be mentioned that the brian jones' guitar parts were Muted out Except only no expectations were left as it was Played. So what happened to the bj guitar parts???
Yeah I know thats one of the reasons I didn't like the sound mix on the official release of the Video and DVD of the Rock and Roll Circus. Thank you for your comment. Please stay tuned to this channel for more videos.
@@professormemorabilia3499 Have you heard the isolated versions of the other songs from the Rock N' Roll Circus? You can easily hear Brian Jones' guitar parts on the other songs. They just mixed him low for the official release.
this is a great review man, do you know why The Faces didn't play? I thought that they were also asked to play, but I don't know... I'm just a huge WHO fan (:
Hello mate The Faces were still known as Small Faces at the time and still had their original singer Steve Marriott. As far as I know they were not invited. Please stay tuned to this channel I will be doing a documentary on both Small Faces and The Who
My succinct review. The Who slays while everybody else Burns at average brightness LOL. And normally I don't judge things like a competition but they crushed itheir one song so hard that's how most people look at it
The Who came on with a typical crash, bang, wallop in a song that soon descended into indulgence. I'm a Who fan, but was a tad embarrassed by their performance.
