The Derby Works Ep4 - Lionel Windover was a man of taste. He had to be as one of Rolls-Royce's go to men for designing and assembling a worthy body for the distinguished marques chassis.
Windovers built their cars from 1924 in a factory in Hendon, north London and in 1935 Lionel decided he wanted one of his cars for himself. Rolls Derby factory supplied the 25hp chassis on which he had built a unique car to his very own specifications. Features like an early Philco in car radio were practically unheard of at the time and a very special dividing glass was installed that offered privacy for the rear cabin. Along with a crystal glass cigar lighter, deep pile mohair over rugs and sumptuous leather seats gave the rear compartment the air of a London gentleman's club lounge.
Greg very kindly talked me around this wonderful car and there's probably no better person to do it. He has a 25hp himself which he drives regularly continuing a half century interest in the cars.
