The Romanovs - 91 years later

On 17th July, it will be 91 years that the Romanovs died. Today, I am sending the video as I won't be able to send it later.
On 17th July 1918, the Bolcheviks assassinated the imperial family of Russia. They were not only the tsar and the tsarina, they were also a father and a mother. The children who were killed were not a tyrant's children, but four charming girls and a little boy condemned to a fast death because of his disease who were unfairly killed. What have they done to deserve such a fate ? Does the misery of the people justify their death ? The answer is of course negative. The only reason of their assassination is Lenin's and his party's cowardice who wanted to have the power...whatever the price may be !

For anyone that's interested the photograph of Alexei and Olga at 1:47 is the last photo taken of the two, this was aboard the Rus- the ship that ferried them to Ekaterinburg. there are no known photographs of them in the Ipatiev house as their cameras were confiscated.

It so sad what happened to those poor children I don't know how any one could sleep at night knowing they just shot down innocent children to death very cruel and ruthless it's very sad that they got away with a mass murder like this I think the Romanovs story is one of saddest stories in history

@richardtofts7264

There were worse crimes in the 20th century - certainly bigger, but wiping out an entire family in cold blood, and in such a truly horrific way, ( calling it an ' execution' is really sanitising what was a drunken mass brawl with handguns, bayonets and rifle butts ) has a resonance that i think everyone can feel.

Thank you for posting these beautiful video of an truly lovely family. I can't agree with MORE, they represented a family united and in love with each other. Tsar Nicholas II was a wonderful father and husband. Their murder, so brutally carried out without mercy and botched makes me cry. They were so misunderstood and the envy of many. Even their closeness was envied. When was the picture taken of the girls with shaven heads? I read it, they were asked to shave their heads, but wasnt sure of it.

for denying safety in England was due to king George, this was not a legacy I'd of wanted on my hands, the guilt must of stayed with him. then if king George had of changed his mind, it was to late at this point the Bolshevik s had no intention of letting them live. sad story for Russia as this was Russia,s grand history of tzar's and Nobel's of the land over. tzar Nickolas wasn't the best tzar no, the errors he made were catastrophic for the Russian people especially famine and lack of employment came, and still the imperial family was seen in there wealth and glory showing enjoyment at the balls and party's, which isn't good timing when your own people are dying. the tzar was an amazing loving family man and would of made a great head of state but not ruler. Alexei I believe he would of been a great tzar for Russia, he had been raised to. tzar Nickolas never wanted to be or at least to early in life from assignation of his father.

Nicholas' sister Olga survived the revolution and war, married and had two sons. She lived out her life in Cooksville, Ontario, Canada just outside Toronto. She died in late 1960, 8 months before my birth and about 45 mins. away. She is buried in York cemetery under a Russian Orthadox Cross in Toronto to this day. Also see Prince Rostislav Romanov. Thought this might be interesting regarding Tsar's descendants.

It's hard to watch any of the video's and look at picture's of this family! My heart is saddened. There are many many events that have tragically happened in this and most certainly this has been one that was allowed to take place. The question I'm sure those of us who have watched or read any information about this family have asked "WHY?" They were born into a position they did not choose but we're viciously killed because to those who carried out this crime hated what they represented! It's tragic this family died the way they did. One trueth remains. They LOVED ONE ANOTHER JESUS said, by this others will know you belong to Me when you love one another".This fact gives me joy and assurance that this loving family is in Heaven with the God they loved. SELAH 🕊

I know only Historically what I've read in and about this loving family Just read another article about the Czar. This man was a special individual of incredible character. A man who was devoted to his family his country but most of all devoted to God. He knew his destiny and had been prepared since his birth. I believe his family knew their fate too. It was a terrible time in Russia as it is today in America. I PRAY for our country and our President. As a Christian I PRAY for strength and courage to stand up and be counted among God's faithful follower's. May God bless all who claim His name as Savior, JESUS CHRIST and to HIM be GLORY, HONOR & PRAISE FOR EVERMORE.🕊🙏🇺🇸🛐

@AleksandrBarislav , You are so correct! If King George V had granted sanctuary to his cousins then perhaps the Romanovs would have survived their tragic fate! Sadly, the king aquiesced to his Prime Minister who insisted that Britain would not countenance the Russian family coming to Britain, and the rest,as they say,is history,a very sad part of history, which should shame my country!

Romanov is a royal title adopted and made as name by leaders of the Rus people when they created a kingdom and converted to Byzantine Christianity. The Rus established Russia as their base and addressed their king as Tsar or Czar, which is a Russianized royal title adopted from the Roman title Cesar during the days of Imperial Rome. On the belief that they, by religion, were also Romans, many kings of Russia took the surname Romanov, i.e., Romans.

and what chance would Nicholas have had to 'beat them up'? The guards were all armored with high-powered rifles, AND they had a cannon in the basement. If any attempt had been made to escape, they would have been killed instantly on orders of the Ural Soviets.

there are Romanov decendants alive and well. One of them was present at the religious blessing of the Tzar and his family by the Moscow Patriarch who did not acknowledge that these were the remains of the Romanovs. There are other descendants throughout the world living inconspicuous lives who choose not to make their relationship to the Royal family known, or who were raised by their family ti keep that part of their history something that should never be spoken of outside of the house.

It is what the Okhrana ( basicaly pro-Imperial Russian verison of the NKVD) used to do to prisoners in the Gulags. Use the hair for beading mattreses etc. So the Romonovs Red Guards ( one or two I think had been in the Gulag) decided to give them the treatment that was given by there secret police eye for an eye kind of thing.

HBB ... /... , everything but Russian ; according to some authors . And all THEIR ENTIRE LIFE EVOLVED IN SWITZERLAND'S on the French Spoken side but l unfortunately l cannot remember the place or the name of the town where they were in possession of an Italian style villa ( what in Russian language people would call it DASHA , assigned only to upperclassmen pimps and "sus muchachos". Do you remember ceausescu ? and marie antoinette of France ? They lived "way too much "a la mode de Palais de Versailles" ' and wouldn't spent a spit on you if you were dying of thirsty . @manuelluis5456 8 лет назад
... /... , perhaps NEVER read Leon Tölstoy : Life and death of the last Russian Emperors where 60 % of their life and 'political" bullshit takes action -- SWITZERLAND -- . I read it in French about 20 years ago -- l'm not completely sure about the several Russian authors ( but one in particularly l do remember very well because this one PARTICULARLY lived TOGETHER among the family and passed out to the Swiss -police how it was the intimacy and way of lifestyle of this degenerated family when he was accused on several occasions for sexual abuse and slavery towards Swiss servants , and the Swiss Authorities decided to cut them the heat of the house where they lived as form of punishment ,,, and the entire last year they lived there they wrote letters to relatives complaining how : '... we are about to die like rats in this damned house ... with no more firewood to warm the house ...( sic scripsit ) and police seized the letters and add it to the extradition process which took about 2 years .And such letters and police reports , and complaints of sexual harassment were kept in a museum where they spent most of their lives - in SWITZERLAND - before they were extradited to 'mother Russia' as they used to say in FRENCH. Remember : the fact l recalled to you marie antoinette / ceausescu / idi amin dada / louis xvi / mamede kadaffi / et ...al , et ... al ... It is not because they are related ... no ... : it's because : this people to whom you advocate for : wouldn't have spent a spit on you if you were dying of thirsty : people [ you / me ... ] simply don't understand the horrors the working-class and peaseants went through when they are in power and how much $$$$$$$$$ they consume from Russian workers to maintaine their vicious life styles abroad ... Remember : sexual harassment of employees it's a very normal and common act in Russia .'Par contre" it is a very serious crime to bullying or harass an employe in Occident , especially if you are an high-ranking or social-status based on $$$$ power . Remember : your job is to wash and clean-up the image of this criminals to the general-tax-payers . l may understand you have to tell people what the big-bo$$ $$$$$$$$ pays you to say : the rôle of an historian is to clean the mess this criminals do to write it on the books of human History . Unfortunately : that is not what the Swiss police , and hotel servants do think about bullying and sexual harassment the Romanov's were accused at the time when they lived a fine life in Switzerland .

From what I read their hair started falling out due to the side effects of the medicine they were taking for treating their measles. Shaving their hair helped grow it out evenly. BTW, this was the second time Tatiana had to shave her head. She got typhus in 1913 and, just like with the measles, the medicine started making her hair fall out.
