The Romanovs were sadly regarded as a "political hot potato" after the Tsar's abdication and nobody wanted them in their country; though it must be said that their foreign relations tried to save them. The Bolsheviks scuppered any rescue attempts. This may sound crazy and far-fetched but Rasputin's treacherous son-in-law somehow got involved and basically any would be rescuers were shopped to the Cheka who made them disappear. The Romanovs had a vast fortune in foreign banks so that they could have quite easily lived in any other country and paid for everything they needed themselves without worrying foreign governments or taxpayers. Nicholas and Alexei were famously military enthusiasts (like me!) but the family was against violence and didn't want any bloodshed on their behalf, they even said so in their letters. The Ipatiev house was both a prison and a fortress at the same time, the house had a number of machine guns and there was others trained on the house from nearby buildings; you would have needed an army to rescue the Romanovs even if you could get there and then there's the Bolsheviks to contend with, about 300+. The murder was just too horrible and despicable. Nicholas and Alexandra died quickly (Nicholas was stood up at the time in front of Alexei and shielded him from the initial volley of gunfire) and the children all died horrible deaths, Alexei was shot in the head more than once and his sisters had unwittingly made themselves bulletproof by sewing jewels into their corsets and they died incredibly violent deaths at the hands of those vile scumbags whom as far as I know never showed an ounce of remorse for what they did on that fateful night. Let's all remember the family as they were in the years before that beautiful, loving family and may they rest in peace xxx

Honestly if someone thinks they deserve that. Then they are just stupid bc there could’ve been is easily another solution in that time too and the fact that the heirs who were innocent needed to face concequences too is just cruel. Could’ve stripped the title or smth but def not killing especially ppl who didn’t even choose the path.

This is a great video 📹 from the film "Rasputin" which is a brilliant film, all of the cast were excellent in this. I thought Freddie Findlay who played the Tsarevich Alexei was outstanding in this. Do you people know what the Tsarevich Alexei did on his 13th (and last as it turned out) birthday? It was the day before the Imperial family left the Palace for the very last time and Alexei stood with his eldest sister Olga by the lake in the Palace grounds and they posed for a famous photo 📸 then he grabbed her and threw her into the lake "fully clothed" as he later wrote in his diary so she got a bit wet!!!😂 I loved the symbolism of the clouds ⛅ in the movie 🎬. Alan Rickman was such a brilliant actor, well worth watching in anything he was in and so was David Warner who played the family doctor. Rest in peace Alan and David xxx
Whether you are a against or with the tsar, which I personally am not, you must admit that murdering them in front of their children is plain wrong. They could’ve done it elsewhere.
