The Rough Way Down an Extensive Old Lead Level.
This is the first part of a two part video as we head towards Punchard Colliery (Punchard Coal Level), stopping to explore all the adits that we find along the way.
In this video we explore this extensive old level (name omitted) and follow the workings far deeper into the ground than anticipated, the external spoil heap hides a substantial working that extends to a fair walk underground. Once in the mine, we examine the very rough looking entrance portal with some dangerous looking hanging boulders, then make our way through some interestingly coloured water to which leads us to a shaft and our favourite find - a loose shale fall!! Continuing on we eventually arrive to the terminal roof collapse before making a grim discovery about the camera.
Part 2, Punchard Colliery: • Punchard Colliery (released 1st October 2020)

Hmm, nice valley, not been in that area. Wow, that's r rough rough in the entrance section, a lot of cavities up there. Yes, when you have a footwall and hanging wall, your in the vein, also a chance that workings run down too so keep eye out for good old false floors.

The entrance is mega rough! We later explored all the adits at beck level all the way up the valley and there are some limestone caves up there as well with the same sort of voids between the stone. We arrive to another mine up there and we both decided that it was way too dodgy to enter - hopefully I've managed to capture the 'problem' in Part 2 (Punchard Valley & Colliery) - disappointed that we didn't manage to explore some more but sometimes things are too far gone to be worth the risk. I've tried to add a better shout out to friends channels at the end of the next video so hopefully it'll be ok with you as I've nicked your icon (though I managed to mince up at the end, duh! typical of me that is LOL, but I hope it is ok)

Hi, you know that slanted rock you were on about ?, I'm pretty sure that's called a hanging wall and it's to do with geologic faults. This link explains it better lol - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fault_(geology)#Hanging_wall_and_footwall Thank you for sharing, much love. xx💖🤘

At 32 mins was that custard or mustard you were sloshing through?

Strange stuff that, not really sure what it was. Think it maybe was some sort of calcification forming a thin layer on perfectly still water over many years?

Rails from around 1825 where the track was made up of loads of separate short pieces that spanned only one set of sleepers (made from stone at that time), all joined together with fish plates using that hole at the ends. Other names are 'Fish Belly' rails. Just seemed strange that they were using these right up there rather than the usual cast as per narrow gauge railways.
