Whats at the bottom of a mine shaft? PART 1
So... there's a shaft in here that we decide to take a look and see what is at the bottom - after a small 'problem' we end up having to return a second time in order to capture some decent video of the mine so please excuse us if we appear to have become a bit cleaner at various points of the movie!
Having explored this mine loads of times over many years of mine exploring, we've not actually found out what exactly lies at the bottom of the square shaft to the North end of the mine. In this video we drop the camera down the underground shaft to finally find out the direction that the mine working takes from the bottom of the shaft.
After the explore, we take a look at some false floors and end up being squeezed into a really tight passage that leads us to a massive shaft leading down to the drainage level, a long way below us.

Wow, nice intro music very apt. Don't worry, my next video took two takes but cracked it with the new camera and lighting :) I was struggling to work out where you were until that first little stope. Bingo, I was down there very recently. People have done srt down there. Not been down but uts quite a distance from the neighbouring mine so don't know if true. Hmm the lens should not mist up inside on that generation. Shout out, thanks :) must physically remember to do in video as well as putting cards up. I'll have to revisit with the new kit sometime to redo but was in with new kit to concentrate on the upper workings. Yes, that used to go through the hill originally. Lol, never been up that crawl. Glad I never went down now. You tripped in the same hole that's got me several times lol.

What general area is this mine in? That tight little low crosscut must have been put in by Children or Midgets. The arched stone support is a work of art Ive never seen that method of ground supportt used in a mine before. great filmwork.

It's North East UK in the Teesdale area. Yes it certainly is rather low in places but I suppose they would take the least amount of hard rock out in order to reach the ore, probably only widening it if they needed to get carts etc in there if the ore body turned out to be rich.
