This was a wonderful video. Very good quality too. Shows each attraction just long enough with enough detail to really entice visitors to go do all of the activities shown. Again very well done, kudos. Thank you.

I always said to my friends that it's very long to make such a video but when it's finished, you'll be proud of it and can share on youtube, for example, like you. Cheers from France.

+Edward Travels We almost skipped it, but we wanted to see the bridge and the canyon. The bridge and the canyon didn't disappoint, the train was great and the Royal Gorge Park was the icing on the cake. A great place to visit.

Really glad to hear that you enjoy my videos. Thank you. I use a Go Pro Hero 2 for most of the on bike footage. My wife also shoots over my shoulder using a Nikon P510. Off the bike we use the 510 and a Nikon D7000. For a glimpse of her shooting over my shoulder watch the Glenwood Springs to McClure Pass video, or the Mount Evans Video.

Thanks for the reply. I did see the GoPro in another of your videos AFTER I sent you the comment. I also have a GoPro (Hero 3 Black) that I just bought. Have only used it on my last ride. Had a bit of trouble with it freezing up in use, but after a software update, all seems to be working well. I had to use my old camera on some of my last ride. ERRRR! Thanks for sharing your videos. i will look for more as you post them. Wishing you safe riding!

Hi, I am enjoying your videos and am excited to be going on my own trip next week. I was wondering if you think the Royal Gorge and Durango train trips are that much different? I am not interested in the dining on Royal Gorge, just the scenery. Thanks for your reply if you see this.

Marlene B. Really happy that you are enjoying my vids. Thanks for watching! The 2 train trips are very different from each other. Royal Gorge is only a couple hours, a vintage diesel, in the bottom of a desert canyon. Durango is about 8 hours, vintage steam, and high in the mountains. Each are spectacular and well done, and if you can't do both pick one based on how much time you can spend, which vintage you would prefer and which terrain you would rather experience. I suggest that you don't choose, do them both. Neither will disappoint. Oh and I agree about dining, might be a neat experience but not at the expense of missing the scenery.

***** Thanks for responding- . We will definitely do both of them then, like we originally planned. This is our 1st time out west and those 2 trains plus Pikes Peak I was afraid it would be to much train riding and to similar, but it sounds like none of them are to be missed!

Marlene B. The cog railway at Pikes Peak is completely different again, and well worth doing. As the Pikes Peak train starts and ends in Manitou Springs, I highly recommend the mexican restaurant "The Loops", located there, and take the time to ride through The Garden of the Gods.

I'll miss the old D&RGW FP9 locomotives. They're changing to more powerful (3000 horsepower vs. 1750) GP40-2's to handle the longer trains. It won't be TOO bad as the "Geeps" have a very distinguished long history of reliability themselves and can accommodate 2 passengers comfortably on the cab rides.

The train ride & the park did you do that all in one?
@RobertMerz
@RobertMerz 8 лет назад
We did the train ride in the morning, it is only a couple hours and then we did the park in the afternoon. We did not expect the park to be as good as it was, and felt that we probably should have allowed a whole day there. If we were doing it again we would probably take a later train ride, and then spend the better part of the following day in the park.

+Robert Merz I'm planning a cross country trip from VA to CA & back & was going to do the park & the next day do rafting in CO then ride to Williams, AZ & do a train ride there but your video showed me I can do all want I need to do in CO THANKS! One more thing where did you stay at in CO?
@RobertMerz

We stayed in Canon City the night before doing the Royal Gorge Railway and Park. There is a lot to do in that corner of Colorado. We also stayed a couple days in Manitou Springs just to the north. From Canon City we went on to Pagosa Springs for an afternoon soak in their incredible springs and then on to Durango to ride the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railway. I have videos of our rides in a lot of this area to check out on my channel. They will probably give you more ideas!
