@@rpospeedwagon Seems at least in here retailers are selling them close to MSRP at least with tax. MSI RTX 3070 Ventus X2 OC goes for 589€ with tax, Nvidia on their store is listing RTX 3070's for 529€. That 50€ price difference comes from tax alone, as its pretty high at 24%, so yeah quite close.

Right now it is the same, we are talking about how the RTX 30xx series are overpriced, especially the RTX 3060 etc. But it is not like AMD has much better options price/performance wise. If one were to compete not necessarily to make quick bux but to deliver the best performance this generation of tech has to offer, NVIDIA would be in the shadows right now. But it doesn't happen because AMD is also shallow. i had a 2gb shit asus gtx 970 and that was pants because i had a 4k tv and that cards only good for 1080p shit in 2015 i bought it. then in year 2019 i got a second hand EVGA GTX 1070 8gb for £200 and now i can play 4k nicely and everything and its been a good card and still does me good.

I would've sold it when the prices inflated really. You could've profited enough to get a easy 3090 ti when the prices finally cooled down.

@@sasproductions701 This is why you should do research. The 1070 is still a terrible card for 4k games. Even a GTX 1080 ti doesn't get a 60 fps in 4k and 60 fps is when you really start enjoying games. I recommend you get a good 1080p or 1440p that has an ips display.

That doesn't make any sense, maybe I missed the joke, but a VHS tape used as a size reference would still be the same size for anyone regardless whether they are a giant or a dwarf. Unless VHS tapes did not exist in real life and were only subjective concepts without tangible measures of what the actual size really is. and yeah, I'm actually fun at parties.

How are you enjoying the PC you put together? I landed an ASUS 3070 TUF OC today and I’m unsure if I should keep it, return it or sell it, all in favour of waiting anywhere from 2 to 12+ weeks for a 3080. I have a high refresh rate 24” 1080p monitor that I’d like to upgrade but isn’t critical at all. I don’t anticipate gaming over 1440p at any point in the next 3 or 4 years, if ever. I’m upgrading from an i3570k and 980 which have served me well for many, many years. I’m looking at getting the same CPU as you. The 980 has served me well for ages and I expect the 3080 would do the same but is it worth the price premium and the wait which could potentially be quite long. Cheers!

@@lxxl8156 Hi Lx, I'm really enjoying it. I have a 165Hz 1440P monitor and most AAA modern games run at around 100-120fps at max settings. Slightly older games can run at 165Hz capped with max settings. What games do you play and what FPS are you targeting? I don't notice any difference from 100hz to 165 Hz so I've been very happy with the performance. The only game that I have had any trouble with is Cyberpunk 2077 which runs at ~60Hz (all settings maxed and DLSS set to balanced which is the GeForce recommended settings) with the occasional drop to ~45Hz and occasionally it'll go up to 70Hz. That is a particularly demanding game though and I assume it'll get better as CDPR optimise it over time.

@@tinyconspiracy9997 the entire thing is aluminum, but it has plastic foil put into place on the inside and a thermalpad without cut to the metal on it too...*facepalm* but that can be solved, just keep it cold, so the glue doesnt bite to much cut it out, maybe even pad-mod that thing for the entire VRM backside and put it back together...now the aluminum can do its job properly, holdig everything in place and also help cooling thing down a little.^^

Knowing so many people are into RGB, and how they all prefer their own style, I don't understand why they don't make the lighting customizable.

@Johnfuse There's no evidence a backplate, metal, plastic, or otherwise does anything to affect thermals. I don't know if Jay tested this, but others have. They're not connected to the cooling system so I don't see how they would help dissipate heat. If anything you'd think they'd trap heat, but they don't do that either. They're pretty much for looks only.

The lows were worse than the 2080TI in almost every title. It has less ram. At the very least Nvidia lied in their marketing. Color me not impressed

That's a good thing to have a GPU bottleneck. Most games are more GPU intensive and generally at 1440p/4k you'll usually be GPU bottlenecked. If you were being CPU bottlenecked then your performance would be severely crippled since it would mean you're not able to get full advantage of all the power your GPU has thus lower fps That's why CPUs get tested at 1080p since at that resolution your GPU doesn't do much work so you'll usually be CPU bottlenecked and can actually see the performance difference between different CPUs.
