if the place they have a match on have stairs or wires around somewhere or something crocks could catch on and make one fall then i dont want to be sued over a person wearing crocks, if a place was flat grounded or just like at home as used to then i wouldnt mind the players have their crocks on cause then it would be if they fall, it isnt on me cause they know its their own fault of fall to floor, some few players gets angry at losing and stands up to either walk around and relief or go beserk, some winners does the same thing but with a agressive smile lmao, i dont know, im trying to use my brain power here but seems like im guessing here
Yeah this seems like some general stage safety protocol. It's the same with stairs and platforms that if they are 1m or higher they must have railings. Because someone once upon a time slipped and sued. But from my experience (working in theatre) I can tell you, that people don't know how to walk on stage generally, most of people are dragging their feet, so if you have carpet on some parts or some wires, then they are gonna trip.
I mean it might be a safety measure for example i cant go to work unless i have proper shows that has womething on the back and completely supports my foot or wear clothes that are too tight for example even tho now we have work clothes that get paid by the employers and also if we have bad eyesight we need to have glasses or contacts that actually help ur eyesight
well when you’re a pro athlete playing a real sport and not an unimportant video game, sleep is extremely important to your performance and you’re hindering yourself and your team if you’re not sleeping
"I think anyone who spends more than an hour a day playing video games is sick". I would personally think that anyone who cares so much about what other people do in their free time is equally sick.
only pedophiles get mad when other people mind other people's business. if you're mad that other people mind your business, your business is something to worry about.
It definitely depends. If you're a bachelor, do whatever the fuck you want. However, if you plan to start a family someday, video game addiction really will ruin your life and your perception of your family. "I don't want to go outside with my kid, I haven't even gotten to play League yet today; I just got home from work." You think it won't be you, but I've seen it happen to a lot of my mates, and they either sink or swim: They either end up putting down video games entirely except for special nights "with the boys," or end up being borderline-absentee parents and husbands.
well when you’re a pro athlete playing a real sport and not an unimportant video game, sleep is extremely important to your performance and you’re hindering yourself and your team if you’re not sleeping
If we go by the last guy's logic: If he was going to train- for let's say the same amount of time- for a sport or hobby he likes-- then he is equally sick. So, if he over exert his body and had unintentional injuries from the past-- he should just kept going even if he's rendered immobile. He is after all getting paid. Even if he's stuck in a wheel chair or required to walk on crutches he should play!
I think the problem for the club is that a sleep-deprived athlete is unable to perform, train and improve on the same level as on with a healthy sleeping schedule. They don't have a problem with his gaming, they have a problem with his habits affecting his performance. The agent is still an ass tho
@@aldandurp.8398 Fair but the agent mentions mental health and I wouldn't be surprised if the player was coping with something using DOTA. If my hunch is right it makes him more of an ass for wanting to fine the dude instead of getting him help.
@@aldandurp.8398 Had nothing to do with performance. The guy was performing fine. He was fined for seeking ways to alleviate his mental health problems and stress outside the norm. Soccer/Football is one of the most toxic and controlling sports in the world. If you aren't Ronaldo, Messi, etc, you don't get to have freedom. They will fine you and shame you for anything besides acting as their little gladiator puppet on the field and off of it.
they just need to stomp on us because they want their ego to be higher than their income and mental health. let's not even waste time thinking about that.
I usually dislike toxicity, however about the football team agent, the one that thinks playing games over 1 hour per day is "sickness": I think its absolutely insane to watch how two groups of people are running around, kicking a soft ball around a rectangular stage, trying to kick the ball inside a net on the opposite side of the field. I have absolutely nothing against the sport itself, however if you look at the behavior of some of the fans because of this sport, there is clearly something wrong. Also, as the agent of the team, they should be the one who cares about the physical and mental health of the team members the most, after all better overall health means higher morale, higher performance, and therefore: higher chance to win. Since this... person has such a low intelligence that they can't even follow moving images for over an hour, for example a videogame, how did they even become the agent of a professional team?! Who in their right mind would put an idiot at such position??? This person should just quit, leave, and never return!
Can we talk about how this year the big teams are all choking?? TES dont make it out of groups, choked twice in their group. EDG get reverse swept by the KR 4th seed, who then proceed to 3-1 the KR 1st seed. JDG proceed to win game 2 and 3 early game vs T1 and then decide to throw the game and get smashed in game 4. I know it's likely T1 will win worlds but I wouldnt be surprised if DRX win, this year feels like everyone is choking. Edit: I'm proud and happy for DRX, proved everyone wrong. Which is actually what the Worlds song is about this year... hmmm
@@angel1buffy Well... NA doesn't really win, EU is in that same boat sometimes. So it really is just between KR and CN. You could say DK choked a bit, I think they had game 5 but just over extending so much for kills
Considering the lack of surrenders in pro; the answer is obviously no. [And it has been for a while] It might not have been "official" but it was obviously highly;' highly discouraged and likly fineable. Also; it's funny. You can't surrender normally in DotA2, but pros can. You can surrender normally in LoL; but pros can't

It's when they are streaming what they are playing that Riot cares. It's not a good look for the company if your employees are basically advertising your competitors products to thousands of consumers
@@bobcutbirb1873 but should pro gamers be considered 'employees' of Riot? I am not sure if that makes sense or if it is aplicable in other sports. Of course , if You are participating in tournaments hosted by a company and playing in a platform You should respect their rules there.
@@lavq7000 I just used employees as an example to support my claim about brand representation. Bottom line is they have to follow the rules of the contract
@@bobcutbirb1873 thats the point I am makint. Is Riot giving them money directly under contract? If that is the case then It makes sense that they can restrict them. But if there is not a Direct contract of payment between Riot and pro gamers , then it makes no sense to me.
As a Dota player, this vid was super interesting. The part about the crocs is funny to me because Gaben often starts off TI (Dota equivalent of worlds) opening ceremony in flip flops. Also, playing 1+ hour of video games doesn’t mean your sick. But playing Dota everyday means you need to go to ICU
That last one just shows a complete lack of knowledge about video games in general. Especially dota since that game is renowned for having the biggest prize pools in their tournaments ever.
TLDR: OSHA The crocks thing if you've ever worked back stage, all of that stuff isn't permanent and it's a technical "work area" so Incase something falls or you drop something it won't hurt as bad/ chop of your toes.
Surrender: Makes sense. Its sportsmanship to let the enemy win fully and to the end. Its like an etiquette; like how there is this unwritten rule in ARAM to wait one last respawn or let the minions finish the nexus. Crocs: They are still to be seen as athletes by extent, so wanting them to look like it makes sense. I wonder why they can go barefoot though; Id understand forcing closed shoes due to safety (sharp objects on stage; splinters and tiny glass shards e.g.; but also in case of emergency, they might be held liable if their athlete trips over due to open shoe while running (if there is a fire e.g.)) Banning supports: All five mostly played and their mains were supports. It was a legitimate ban; they literally banned their picks. Just as you‘d ban Yasuo if you know the enemy has a Yas one-trick… There was no insult there :/
Hey, I don't know if this is helpful, but I almost didn't click this video because I thought it was your old one with a similar thumbnail and title. I look forward to each of your uploads and love the unique topics you discuss and the way you present them.
as someone who can easily spend ten to twelve hours a day gaming, the comment at the end of the video made me laugh. Gee, we all have our demons, let my bad habit be gaming, spend your time how you like to spend it but don’t define people as sick just because they don’t have the same center of interests as you lol
A Turkish pro player named wtcn received a 1 year participation ban for joining an overwatch tournament back in the time. He quit after hearing that stupid rule and became one of the most famous turkish streamer lol.
Unfortunately Vivian's gaming's situation isn't as reported in most cases. It is a lot more nuanced. To summarise; when vivictus Gaming got promoted into the league the owner dumped their roster and filled it with players who we far inferior than the original roster. 4 out of the 5 new players on the roster were infact support mains. With Janna, Lulu and Soraka being their most played. When they played in the league they proceeded to get stomped by every team and fountain dived for good measure. The other teams felt disrespected because it was a waste of time playing them and not a team worthy of the competition.
yeah i never understood the backlash to the support bans. the team was literally stacked with players that play those champions. the other things were indeed unsportsmanlike (fountain diving, delaying game) so i can understand that. but targeted bans to your teams most played champs? thats just strategy, it only looked bad because the team was designed around "all girls" and they chose to throw a bunch of support players into it
@@emi9643 I doubt it was because the players mained support, it's far more likely that it was informed by the stereotype of women in esports playing supports and the common sexist theme of telling girl gamers to "go back to support".
@@remen8021 That whole team was a joke tho, they literally kicked the main roster (all guys) and brought a bunch of random diamond female players to pull a publicity stunt.
It's kinda funny what Dennis Lachter said, because pro sports/that much sports is virtually the exact same lmao It's an addiction. the only difference is one is a physical activity whilst the other is not lol
Its forbidden to drive a car with slippers that are not closed at the back in Germany. You are allowed to drive without shoes but not with slippers or backside-open crocks. It costs 30€ penalty. But much worse is the fact that even if you have an accident, you could be held responsible if you wear the wrong shoes. The insurance company could also not pay or not pay in full, because you have deliberately violated the rules. (but probably they would pay :D)
I mean Rox was literally banning main champs of Vaevictis so not sure how much of a trol that was :p if I remember well 3/5 were at the time support mains in solo queue.
The gaming addiction stuff always makes me laugh, because most people saying it are dumb (including a lot of gamers). OBVIOUSLY you can be addicted to games. But there’s situations where playing a ton is justified. My Jr year I had a lot of pretty severe surgeries that melts me at home on bed rest. So I’d do all my homework in like an hour in the morning, then go grind league from my bed set up. I was probably clocking in 12 hours a day semi-frequently. But that didn’t mean I was addicted. I just didn’t have many options. Even today I still play a lot, especially on week nights. I work full time and take care of a sick relative, so I can’t be going out every night. So I play games. But if playing video games all the time prevented me from doing my job, maintaining relationships, or taking care of my family duties that’d be a problem. It’s not that complicated
I bet if you told him that anyone watching tv longer then an hour is sick and addicted it would all of a sudden be “well its not the same” or “ it’s different” lmao.
Football league: "Play this silly ball game every day without end!" Also Football league: "No you can't play Dota! It is just a silly game!" If playing video games over an hour a day is sick and addicted, how is playing football over an hour a day any different?
That statement is obviously ridiculous. But playing football over an hour is physical exercise as long as you don’t injure yourself it’s a good thing for you even. The more you exercise the healthier you are. But playing video games is completely fine even if it’s for multiple hours
@@kevin8006 Patently false. There's a limit even to excercising, after which overwork and diminishing returns start to kick in. Rest time is required to being healthy, and this includes both physical and mental rest. Playing a video game that you like for hours on end during your rest day is as good of a mental break as anything else, as long as the player isn't prone to raging or tryharding at everything.
The "no crocs" rule is probably just as much Riot wanting the players to look representative as for safety reasons (even though I'm not sure what could go wrong with crocs in that environment, but hey ho). You're not going to wear crocs to your office job either, at least not if you're any serious about it.
@@satibel if they´re wearing the original ones with holes in them they are actually commiting a code violation. You have to wear fully closed shoes as a nurse or doctor.
As for surrendering, I would add that some hopeless games were actually won by the losing team, or otherwise thrown by the winning team, so part of the reason for no /ff in pro play might be that games can be really volatile.
@@morning_staar it wasnt even a joke, they were just that scared of Ming. I cant remember what the bans were exactly, but Ming ended up on galio and still whopped ass
Aye, that aside how on earth is banning those champs discrimination if it isn't against the rules, a bit sexist of riot to assume that because the other team was all female right?
@@alex2005z Yea, but that's what I mean, surely banning support role champs in that case was the right call by the other team. Riot really overreacted here. edit for typo.

imagine thinking anything more than an hour a day is equivalent to an addiction. this book im really enjoying? nah vetter stop reading it i might become addicted to reading
That team ROX thing is so dumb. It’s not because their girls, it’s because they were bad lmao They would’ve done the same troll pics against an all male team with the same W-L ratio
No surrender makes more sense in games where players can be substituted. Loosing hard usually allows weaker players a chance on the "pitch" since coaches dont want to risk injuring their better players. That way it is still highly watchable and spectators can "root for the underdog".
In CBLoL (Brazil League scenario rquivalent of LCS/LEC). Teams can call for FF, But they have to ask judge to approve it. Although in the last years it never happened, I know that is how it works because a former pro has shared this info
Haven't watched the video yet, but, the only time i have seen a surrender in Pro Esports was Team WE(China) vs TSM in the IEM Katowice World Championship finals, i believe back in 2015. TSM had won game 1 and 2 and were destroying them in game 3. WE surrendered after losing the final team fight, giving TSM and NA their first ever international championship. Funny people talk about TSM being shit internationaly but they are the only NA team with a international tittle, and have since added a 2nd with their rift rivals win over UOL (another 3-0), back in 2017.
Honest the surrender thing is stupid. The International in Dota is HUGE and they still do GG in world championship play to end games early when they know they've lost. I think this is just RIOT being RIOT. They've gotta make things hard for no reason.

Essentially almost all of these come down to "professional conduct". If you're in front of an audience, you are in a position to be viewed as a role model. Especially if you do so repeatedly. Now of course the exact nature of that position influences how much professional conduct is expected of you. The regular sports one, if he streamed his dota games then yeah, if a professional athlete can stay up to 4am gaming, why shouldn't you? This already applies if your display name is public knowledge as well, though you likely can get away with a good bit more in that case when never streaming. Though calling gaming for over an hour a day addiction is pretty much the same as calling reading non-educational books for over an hour an addiction. If that also is their stance then it's a good thing they didn't go into a health profession (though pr/manager of a sports team is already dangerously close to those professions). Crocs.. yeah likely a combination of safety and professional conduct, also explicitly stated in what looks to be either a contract or adjacent code of conduct, which likely was part of that contract, so they signed off on that when they went professional. Solo queue stuff, duh they essentially promote toxicity there. as for the light trolling against the female team, unfortunately same thing. The general public is repeatedly shown to not understand, that what boils down to banter with their colleagues, isn't ok to replicate to complete strangers. Surrender is.. ok for streaming I'd say, but public matches are a performance and a surrender is just not ok there, for the reasons stated in the video. Think like, during the olympics someone is going "I'm not gonna beat that score so I'll dip out, see ya"
for the last guy, considering he's an athlete, he is being paid to be in top form, and staying up to 4AM can't be healthy those guys are also probably on diets and stuff, so i kinda get it but it shouldn't be an issue as long as he games during the day
2-3 hours a day, duble the time on weekends. I work 5-2, play basketball semi-profesionally, go to the GYM 2 times a week, eat semi-healthy and sleep pretty good basically every night. No, I am not sick, addicted probably since I know for a fact that I would be smoking heeaps of wood if I did not play video games XD We all gotta have some passtimes, don't we? Yes, video games can be a problem if consumed too much, just like alcohol (my uncle), cigars(my friend), drugs (my good friend, R.I.P.......) and sex (my uncle), but people villianizing games like that are nearsighted, very nearsighted in my nearsighted eyes.
Playing video games all day beats laying down in bed being depressed all day. You're sitting, you're moving your arms. It's ready a lower risk of embolia. Sitting is also better for the digestive system than laying down all day. Gaming keeps your problem-solving mind in shape and hand-eye coordination in good condition. As long as you do proper self care, it shouldn't be called an addiction. Can you imagine if we called Mangakas addicts because their working week is 70 to 90 hours? Or CEOs?
I wish they could. Then my brain dead team mates on EUW wouldn't drag out unnecessary, one-sided games. ADC is 0/10, the mid liner has 400 ping just f****ing surrender. Jesus Christ. I hate this game.
Is a round of golf an addiction because it can last for upwards of 4-5 hours (depending on skill and numbers). Is that an addiction because 1/3 of your waking hours are spent on it? Hell I've played 36 before for a fundraiser, does that make me a full blown junkie? Or is it just a game, and this guy needs a blunt?
Lmao. A single hour of playtime is enough to get… one MAYBE two games of DoTA in. Maybe if you’re lucky (or unlucky, depending on which team you’re on) you might be able to get 3 but stomps like that are no fun
5:10 I dont think you need to be worried about a team surredering before a mythic is bought. This arent soloQ players, they dont ff as soon as they miss cannon
It's a gaming addiction... I mean the guy clearly has a football addiction. Football is still just a game people pay money to watch, its just that it has had a lot more time to grow.
