That's what I like about Thew. He never goes "THIS TRANSFORMER IS THE SECOND COMING OF GOD" or "THIS WORTHLESS PLASTIC REMINDS ME OF MY DEAD CAT". He'll sometimes just go "well that's ok innit"
@@JustinWahlne I mean, I think Emgo is also pretty firmly in the "It's either great or it's just okay" territory, and it takes a lot for him to outright say he doesn't like a figure.
For the record, the business Thew is talking about at 3:10 was a time when the Transformers Collectors Club apparently had some seriously outdated software on their website when Over-Run got put on there. So the site got hacked, a number of people ended up having their credit card info and login information leaked, and the Club spent a couple weeks completely failing to contain the problem or come up with a good answer for why. I think it was the point when the fandom opinion of Fun Publications officially moved from "aw, they're alright, ennit?" to "wow, these guys are utterly incompetent."
@@walterlopez5054 Ayup - I mean to say, there was always people who didn't like them and their operation always had some major issues. There's a laundry list of exclusives preceding that period that had some kind of problem; the Seacons had major mold degradation problems, Nightbeat's ears were removed last-minute, Heatwave's combiner head didn't store correctly half the time, Punch's head was tiny. Not to mention the website being hilariously outdated in general. But 2012 was the point when they officially started losing ground, between the Over-Run issue and most of the Botcon releases being mediocre or undesirable.
I love how the two characters that do absolutely nothing and die in the G1 cartoon somehow manage to get fan vote victor status but we're still yet to see Star Saber outside of a Masterpiece here in the west truly a magical brand
And he is going to get Shafted again from a Commader Class Figure in favor of a "Leader" Class Rodimus Prime (worst leader in existence) with a Commander price point. Yay...
@@Spartan-Primer And the crazy thing is that the Beavis & Butt-Head characterization is from a comic that predates the actual Beavis & Butt-Head cartoon by almost a decade! Bob Budiansky was remarkably ahead of the curve there.
I know you're probably over the comments on every new video saying that it's some of your best work yet, but in my opinion the videos you've put out this year and in 2020 have genuinely been the best work you've ever done. Not to mention some of my personal favorite content. Yes that includes what they've got going on at netflix and disney+. Your stuff is really that good. Very few things in life give me that warm feeling inside than settling in from a long day to see a new Thew video in my patreon feed. I keep catching myself backing up a few seconds to appreciate the wordplay you craft, or take in the photos you snap and the graphics you create. The production value you're able to bring as one dude is genuinely insane to me at times. Anyways, not just trying to big you up too much, but I really do love what you're doing. Keep at it man, we appreciate ya.
Thew's videos always bring a smile to my face. Alliteration, puns and a very nice guy who seems super passionate about his robots. What's not to smile about. What's better than this
Am I the only one who thinks earthrise runabout could be used for a future knight rider crossover figure? Because I get some serious knight rider vibes from him
I love Thew trying to do a rare negative-skewing review. It's always "Here's a bunch of perfectly valid criticisms that demonstrate why this is a bad toy, but I still think it's the best thing ever". And honestly, that kind of positivity is what keeps brining me back.
If you're referring to the Marvel comic that they headline in, then Beavis and Butthead are the Runabout and Runamuck of MTV, as the Battlechargers were featured a good 5 years or so before that other duo of idiots. For those reading this who don't know, Runabout and Runamuck in the Marvel book act and talk almost exactly like you would expect Beavis and Butthead to act if they were Transformers -- it's quite funny, and a bit eerie that Transformers "predicted" Beavis and Butthead so early on.
I don't normally bother collecting teams if most of their key members have been made into exclusives, but these guys, I went for. And Thew nailed it, as always. They're . . . all right. They don't want to hold together particularly well, their chest-hood undercarriage has 1.4 nanometers of clearance for rolling (if you're lucky), and they're not particularly stylish in car mode, but they're a laugh. And now I can't help but imagine Ultra Magnus saying "Ain't they them two 'Cons that've been priming their pistons in mah tool shed? Them boys ain't right."
"its like a foot without the toes" as an advid watcher of anime, animation teams sometimes just have the feet be one solid block with no detail when its a panned out shot for whatever weird reason. don't get me started on fallout 4's atrocious foot block
Really digging the "review across the eras" you've done with several videos now. Would like to see more or even for this to become your standard format, assuming you can get your hands on the original toys.
Oh, man, this guys... I really love them. Sad to know that usually they are used as simple cannon fodder or generic decepti-goons, but... Their bios and the way they act in Decepticon Graffiti make me want to see this two making more crazy and funny things. Definitely two of my favorite decepticons
I got recommended this channel by a friend recently, and it just makes for awesome comfort viewing. You know, when you need to lie down but don't want to fall asleep.
Mucky Pup reference at 3:36! I caught that, and it might be the first reference of good ol' MP in ANY Transformers review EVER! Thew, you ABSOLUTE UNIT.
I think they get their love from us old heads having them as youngins. I remember getting them both at K-mart on our family Sunday afternoon excursions to one of the three big ( well bigger lol) towns with in thirty minutes, they weren't much more than a Gi-Joe so I could ask for them and know it was sure bet lol. Got A-Muck in Whiteville and A-bout in north Myrtle Beach two separate weeks apart lol. I didn't get the club versions I did have the univere one I think it was A-bout in A-mucks colors, but I jumped on the earthrise versions. I like them but I've lived the characters or my interpretation of the characters since forever
I would love to get this duo but the exclusives strike again. It’s like the seekers you can get some of the team but you have to pay way more for sky warp and Thundercracker.
Yeah, I miss the days of a Seeker coming out every other wave or so at standard retail, so you actually have a decent chance of getting them all. As soon as they start making key team members exclusives, I don't even bother trying to collect them. Except for these guys. These guys, I went for.
I got Starscream, Skywarp, and Thundercracker. I also saw Thrust one time at target but i didnt get him because they had new Studio Series stuff, which i prefer.
Was a fun vid, funny enough I had my two Run's nearby while watching it I'll admit I do kinda prefer Earthrise keeping it modest with its screen(comic?) accuracy to the robots - but I gotta agree the paintjobs on the Collector's Club figures really do stand out!
So Runamuck wins a fan-poll completely on his own, Hasbro decides to make Runabout I ASSUME because these two are as synonymous as peanut butter and jelly and having one without the other is completely unthinkable... and then they make Runamuck a Target-exclusive and cast Runabout to the four winds? That doesn't strike me as the best way of giving the fans what they want.
Hey Thew! Saw the sweet comment on twitter you posted. And i totally agree! I don't even collect transformers but i really enjoy your content.. the jokes, music, puns and the emergy! Man i just love that enthusiasm. So keep it up and stay cool!
So, I noticed a thing. In the fan pole the Impacter was decided on, everyone of the characters eventually got a new toy in the WFC trilogy. Except Needlenose. Then in the fan pole that Runamuck came from, Gnaw got a SS86 toy. Shrapnel is probably going to be in Legacy since Kickback is. Poor Needlenose
Regarding the faux-wheel heel-spurs (wheelspurs?) - Recreating the general look of the often rather silly-looking late-G1 toys when making figures of the charcters those toys depicted is the aesthetic of WFC. An extreme form of CHUG's "G1 with knees" shtick. E.G. Siege Springer, in all the angular glory of the OG toy.
I think it's worth noting that because of the gigantic feet/heels, these guys are very stable for a lot of poses, including a few which exude pure stupid reckless hooliganism (try it, you can get a half-squat gangsta-style guns akimbo pose out of Runabout) and it just works wonderfully.
Thew thanks for I introducing to the music of Trivium, they are awesome! I meant to comment on the video of you telling us the music you liked, but can't find it. Anyway love the transformers reviews!
I'm amazed HasTak didn't go insane on the repaint train by releasing some kind of hard to get exclusive figures of the grunt forces from Devastation. Blue and Orange Muckabouts, black Blitzwing, and black, red, and purple Durges.
I got a really good deal and picked up the Collector Club twins off eBay several years back, still dig them quite a bit. Picked up the new ones (they're fine), decided to keep my CC twins. Kickass review as always, thanks!
I love my Runabout and Runamuck. A couple of background also-rans that really should get more time to shine. They're kind of like the Beavis and Butthead of the Decepticons. Too bad my Runamuck had so many QC problems I thought he was unusable. His hands were covered in so much plastic flash he couldn't hold his gun, his tabs would go into their slots and the painted parts were done by a blind man with no sense of smell. But some work with an x-acto knife, cutters and model paint got him right as rain.
Great video as always. I saw on your desk you got selects Deep Cover are you planning on doing a video with all the sideswipe molds/repaints in the future? I didn't know who runamuck was against in the fan vote, but found it funny that Needlenose was up there again. Man some one at hasbro has him in every vote.
i always like this little runs of the history to the latest model of a tf figure is like a nice strorytelling / buy checklist if you want to get them ...and that's why im running a cj collection, oh well . love you
I was there for the Transformers Collectors Club releases of Runabout and Runamok and don't remember how exactly I went about getting them, even. But I do remember that was one of the only 2 times (so far) that I've had a credit card be compromised
Did anyone else notice that the last 2 had faces on their crotches? Seriously rewatch it, they do have crotch faces! What was the thinking behind that design choice?
Thew, I've just recently gotten back into customizing my figures, and this video has now got me hyperfixated on turning two Studio Series 07 movie Jazz... es into these two heehaws, and I blame you ❤
Love these little dudes! They seem so fun! Love the colors! That white and orange is glorious! Might see if i can find the newer ones. Good stuff! Love ya thew! 😁👌🏻
BEYOND AMAZINGLY FANTASTIC REVIEW THEW ADAMS!!!!!!!!!! :D I loved all your puns throughout the video, they are mucking about so much they gave me the runs. :D Keep on being amazing, Double Thumbs Up. ;D
Love these two guys, so I was thrilled to get them, although I'd a pig of a time getting Runabout. Poor ol Runamuck was definitely lacking in the orange colour dept as Thew said. Definitely could have used a bit more colour. Still love 'im though. :)
I'm also a fan of some Decepticon cars. Menasor, Rodimus Unicronus, Exhaust. It's a shame Runabout has been really hard to get a hold of, especially here in Australia
I sort of expect a hasbro pulse g1 toy accurate repaint 2-pack with an added orange runamuck and solid red plastic window runabout. If nothing else I’d love some 2 packs of these guys in generic primary colors for Transformers: Devastation troop builders.
