I'm not trying to say she's the best character in the game every time you play her, but her peak is probably higher than any other hero and I was bringing attention to that
Orphan rank 2 dragonfly is my favourite thing in this game honestly. 4 base burn when mastered, +1 from orphan, +2 from blanket, +1 from snappy. Thats 8 burn to 2 targets plus a decent small hit of damage with a 20% orphan damage bonus. Its around 11-12 damage to 2 targets, and if you can get her back into position 2 on her next turn then she can just kill whoever if in rank three with backdraft. Very silly character when she want to be the team carry, but also very capable of just being a strong generic role player with firefly, controlled burn for bosses, smokescreen, and cauterise (plus dragonfly in case she gets caught up front). She's never not useful, and I love her for it
@@Siennarchist you know what's funny, I don't even think I knew about the interaction where dragonfly does burn based on where she lands when I made this video haha. I know survivor doesn't get a lot of love from the community cause it takes away burn piercing and damage, but I do try to mention whenever it comes up that she does have the tools to have success with it, even if there's only one heal because hearthlight and smokescreen being such useful abilities like you mentioned
Not sure where your going with this first arguement. Almost every character would be busted if you could "hand pick" there trinkets, and hand pick there signature inn items along with them. Leper with his +66% crit when blinded cultist trinket is the best damage dealer in the game. But what if you took the pet that makes it so he doesn't have to run a cultist trinket? Now he can run the 10% extra crit trinket or a +damage trinket, etc, etc. or the most likely scenario, you never find that and he low rolls with his extremely wide damages range the whole run. What if you could just pick the taunt trinket on chaplian vestal every run? All of a sudden she's not so ass. Also most if not all the trinkets you mentioned require taking her to the fire area, where she happens to be ultra ass super ass. You could get the same or close to the same blight damage on pd, and have a character on your team that's actually good regardless of high roll. With more than Two useful skills. and the ability to remove the highest cause of character deaths enemy DOTs. Noxious blast 6 Early experiment +2 duration brilliant brew +2 durration 8×5=40 damage a turn with 33% piercing from the path 13×3=39 with 0 piercing if she misses a single 30% resist it's no contest. looks like runaway is worse at the dot game than PD, without Rolling an inn item. Jester Slice off 4 base damage, 3 bleed and a vulnerable The Finger +2 dealt leather strop +2 duration 6×5=30 with the +33% piercing from the path. unfortunately you need to net 10 damage off the vuln so someone else has to hit the vuln for 20 to match up to PD . Not the same damage but jesters also insanely useful,cool and fun. If we are balancing Runaway around her "high roll", she needs way more buffs, cuz she needs to high roll to be worth a damn. While everyone elses high roll just makes them "really good" to "really fuckin good" She's a mediocre character with 2 good buttons. You had to mention one of two of them with her absolute best case scenario just to make an argument for her in the first place, you debunked your own argument at 8:00, bro you're not even fooling yourself. She doesn't do anything interesting. They said "lul make burn character" and threw her in, her back story shows it its literally "lel Kid who played with fire onetime lel xd". I like your ideas for reworking her into a beta tested graverobber though.
I MEEEEEEAAAAN Plague Doctor's blight capability needs to be nerfed too, she's pretty over the top. If you're running Soloist on Jester, you're running -20% max hp and -3 speed so that's a pretty legitimate downside to having all the bleed that he has with that path compared to the tiny downsides of Orphan/Alchemist.
In my honest opinion, I think runaway is actually surpsingly strong cause I mean she's the only one who can burn down a orphanage in the game making her kd naturally higher then the rest. She is also able to help big buff daddy leper always hit his chops. So I think honstely she's super fun and you're wrong.
Only found this because YT suggested it on my main page but I gotta say your breakdown was really well put together. I think the reason a lot of people undervalue her is mainly because she really wants trinkets and a lot of people might be too afraid to do 3x lairs in a run thinking it's hard but in reality going 3x lairs gives a ton of trinkets, stage coach items, combat items and relics/baubles to buy whatever you didn't get. I was curious myself some time ago about her potential and the best path. The results were that a r4 Orphan is very close to an Arsonist against a 30%-40% fireres enemy and no trinkets. If you add the favorite toy and trinkets Arsonist is by far better mainly because the +burn dmg trinkets are very strong and you want the res pierce passively so you can have 2 trinkets for power/duration. Also Arsonist has the benefit of being able to use Controlled Burn which absolutely melts bosses.

Yeah I think you're right, if you're willing to sell your soul in order to get her buffed then it definitely pays off, but it gets into the question about whether that's worth the time or fun at all. Controlled Burn is honestly a nuts ability as far as DPS goes but I kind of give it a pass cause it's at least a unique ability haha
@@vantablacc3264 I'm not really salty I don't even like DD1 because its too punishing and not fun for me. I was just genuinely shocked to see a DD2 video because all I saw was the negative opinions of it and assumed it was dead on arrival. Its interesting to see its actually not.
