Great song. For the longest time I thought this was a Runaways original. I knew Cook & Jones, in fact my band opened for them in 81, but I didn't realize this was their song. I was a huge Runaways fan, and Cheap Trick too. Really I thought they were the only two bands who were any good in the late 70s before I discovered punk. I liked Alice Cooper, T.Rex, lots of others, but figured out at some point that all the bands I liked were good in the early 70s, but they'd all kind of lost it over the years. Shonen Knife does a really good cover of this too. Haven't heard the Guns 'n' Roses version, not sure I want to, but I won't judge before hearing it.
He's all geared up, walkin' down the street I can single the slime, drippin' down his feet Well, you can't refuse and you just can't choose what he's gonna do Well, you can't refuse and you just can't choose what he's gonna do Well, it's late at night and I'm all alone I can hear the boots gettin' near her home Well, you can't refuse and you just can't choose what he's gonna do Well, you can't refuse and you just can't choose what he's gonna do Scratch, scratch, he's clawin' at the door Oh, no, I can't take anymore, crack, crack, I'm feelin' so sore Never should have asked for black leather Black leather, black leather, black leather You can try to hide, you know you won't get far You let him in and you'll start again Well, you can't refuse and you just can't choose what he's gonna do Well, you can't refuse and you just can't choose what he's gonna do Scratch, scratch, he's clawin' at the door Oh, no, I can't take anymore, crack, crack, I'm feelin' so sore I never should have asked for black leather Black leather, black leather, black leather
The Two Queens of Rock, Lita and Joan. To bad they do not get along now. It would be great to see them both on stage together now. Both were so cute . And of course both great guitar players.
It's a band from the 1970's with Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Cherie Currie, Sandy West, Jackie Fox, and Vicki Blue. It was pretty much the first all girl punk band.
This is a Sex Pistols song, done by Steve Jones & Paul Cook (Sid Vicious too?) after Johnny Rotten left, in 1978. It came out on the Six Pack singles thingie. Guns'n'Roses covered it too. I didn't know Joan Jett had done it as well. Thanks for posting this. I love Joan Jett, so put another dime in the juke-box, baby. Or alternatively - upload another video on RU-vid, baby : )
@offwithurhead black leather was written and recorded by The professionals(steve jones, paul cook, andy allen) . but it was released as the sex pistols on a collection of 6 seven inch singles called the pistols pack it had another great professionals song on the b side called here we go again later both songs were on the japan only releaased lp the best of sex pistols
They were Great they should have reformed 2003 - 2007 at some point they still Rock & it would be good to see them do another studio CD. But as time goes by the less chance they ever will.
@Akira3441 I bought it in 1978 (or 79?). I still have it. It says Sex Pistols on the cover, it was a sort of box set with 6 singles. Sid Vicious didn't play on most of Never Mind The Bollocks either, he was in hospital with hepatitis, Steve Jones did the bass parts.. so it's not the Sex Pistols then? There are Rolling Stones songs sung by Keith Richards, without Jagger. Sometimes without Bill Wyman, with Richards on bass... so, by your reckoning, it's not the Stones? How old are you exactly?
@Akira3441 I had a record of this song with Sex Pistols written on the cover, you "do the math", if there's any math to be done, lol! I'm not sure whose quote is the one you mention, or how relevant it is. That it was done by Guns 'n' Roses I said it myself. Anyway, it's not that important, not to me at least. Thanks for posting it, take care
Well put Shelly And I am going to do everything in my power to reconcile any differences the ladies may have had. I knew Joanie in jr high and she is the hardest working rocker I have ever known. Lita I know from her displayed talent and her intellect per interviews, but they play so well nicely together, Rock on girlsand to reiterate Shelly's very true and simply mazing comment, "so fucking hot!" oesnt even scratch thw urface, but oh the surface, and what a surface!Joanie as a Knight, you saved a Titans life when we were twelve, and was too badly shaken that Inever told you then what my feengs became aftr you showed me truth and gided me by showing I had worth and value
@gretzz007 This is Black Leather, originally performed by the Professionals (post Sex Pistols) and the old Guns 'n Roses also made a cover on "The Spaghetti Incident?"
