Joan sounds so cute and little! I love when Jackie is like "Yeah we have boyfriends in every city!!" and they're all 'NO! Speak for yourself" and Joan just busted up laughing when they asked Sandy if she had a boyfriend or lover, hahah.
Cherie's voice sounds alot different than her singing...wow. I wish I could have been born in that time period and get to be their friends. My aunt actually got to talk to them and play an opening band for them!
THAT FILM, it really broke my heart when Sandy said to get together and have a tour, and just do it for her. Man she was going through so much and when she said that she'd been working construction for 20 years when she just wanted to be a drummer, that's a true a example of broken dreams, damn.
Jackie later recalled how she made that "we have boyfriends in every state" joke because she thought it matched their Bad Girl image. She was surprised when the rest of the band was so shocked and offended.
i watched the "Edgeplay" documentary and sandy was my favourite as a person. i like joan the most as a musician but sandy seemed so sincere and it was really sad to watch. i didnt know they had that much problems. as a fan looking in from the outside it seems like the perfect rock and roll life.
Love this clip Just love it. They are such kids, we all were then but wow just little girls with a combined talent that paved the way for today Just five years after I ha=d last seen her, and she and the Runaways are beyond description. As my tat says, THE RUNAWAYS RULE I love you guys! And I always will!
Here's what I can hear from the interviews: Joan: the fans are great. Cherie: we give it our all on stage, blown away by reception in Japan, Jackie likes to shop and talks about how they've been all over the world, Sandy likes to party, Joan and Lita like to play guitar. Cherie's been wearing the corset onstage for 8 months. Asked about boyfriends, Joan and Sandy say they have no time (ha ha!). Jackie says they have different boyfriends in every state. The rest are outraged by this, lol!
Ah the wonders of VHS tapes!Man,how I wish if we could go back to using these!I like them better than DVDs since CDs are a lot easier to break or scratch it which causes it to be unreadable. But VHS tapes can last for years which is incredible!Sure the only bad thing about those is that the tape can come out of the cassette sometimes when it's way too old,but I love these better than DVDs. I still have my VHS tape that contains videos of my childhood days in the 1990's and it's very precious to me.So seeing these footages of the Runaways brings a lot of nostalgia in my heart even if I wasn't born yet in the 70's.These ladies are really something!
Kristen Stewart mirrored Joan so much my gosh the resemblance is uncanny. I can't think of any other actress who can portray her better than Kristen! Respect for both women. Joan Jett moved like Kristen, the hair touching, face touching, the I don't give a fuck look, the legs crossed and laid back way to sit and stand. Gosh
This interview is a lot better because at least they have interpreters not like how rude the japanese women were when they tried to interview them on stage.
They are just truly amazing. My inspirations as people and especially musicians. I love all their personalitys that really show during the interview. "SPEAK FOR YOURSELF JACKIE!" Hahah! I love Cherie at 3:40 in that clip from Johnny Guitar live. :D
Some of these comments are so lame. First off, they aren't wasted, they're fuckin ' exhausted because the Japanese got them as soon as they got offstage. And all this speculation about who was gay and who wasn't. The only one who was just into chicks was Joan. I was best friends with Sandy and she preferred girls, but she also liked hot guys and had boyfriends as well as girlfriends. She told me an interesting story about her and her bodyguard one night on this tour! LOL Jackie and Lita were just into dudes. Cherie preferred guys, but messed around with girls , including Joan and Sandy! LOL Vicki I think liked both, she's been in a long term relationship with a woman for years now. So hopefully that straightened some things out for people. But most importantly they were the most talented group of kids ever, guys or girls! And all beautiful in their own way!
I think was during the time when they saw cherries magazine covers and things went down hill bc this interview is Awkward. But I love they all even get to speak and incorporate each-other as a group. Love them
i am really they glad they love what they do and I can see how much energy they put in to this track and all the others and it makes me wonder how they would have time for a serious relationship but at the same time they would have loved their privacy
holy shit, is that footage of johnny guitar LIVE? thank you so much for all these videos, you are so fucking awesome. if you have anymore i would cut off a finger for you to upload 'em.
It makes me wonder how wasted these girls were during this interview...I watched the movie and thought they are lucky to be alive, no matter how talented they are..and they are talented!!
@@taklampa6197 They are 100% wasted, It is literately in every single documentary and most interviews. They where heavy heavy into drugs. Watch the movie the Runaways.
I've been a runaways fan since I was like 11 so I wasn't actually around when they were a band so it seems weird watching things like this now ... -__-
@lajne96 I think our generation really needs to work to help bring good music back! 70s/80s rock definetely is on its way to having a major revival, especially because people hate the fact that pop music is dominated by those who can't really sing. Pop music is not a bad word to me, pop music was good up until about the early 2000s when corporations REALLY made image more important than the music.
During the "American Nights" clip you can see a brief shot of Joan & Jackie doing their routine - they would flip around in tandem, raise their guitars in the air together.
I find it funny that even though ive been a Runaways fan for a long time I didnt know exactly what "Have ya grab ya till youre sore" was referring to till I saw the movie and Michael Shannon as Kim Fowley did his little gesture, then I was like "Oh, Im a dumbass."
@SamanthaCarterFan01 That movie wasn't 100% correct (although it was still awesome) Lita was mean back then but so were the others because Kim Fowly pitted them against each other
( This is my mother` space on youttube cause i havent one) but i have to say i`m fucking obsessed with this band and this girls too ^^But im in love with joan
That's my impression about Lita too- you are so right- she always seems happy and friendly! So, I am frankly shocked that anyone says she's a jerk or that they don't like her. She's so friendly, open, and honest, I'd find it nearly impossible not to like her! And I think she's probably the most honest one in the band, by the way. If Lita says something did or didn't happen, I'd most likely believe her, because she just has that open, honest, no frills air about her, which is so genuine and refreshing. She just says it like she sees it, but usually has a kind bent. So yeah, she's A-okay with me! She and Joan were the best in the band, I say. Virgo power!!
@@storybellz Like when they asked her if her name was Carmelita, she replied: 'No, no: I'm not Carmelita! (her mom was Italian, but quite looked Mexican)
tnx for this vid! its great but could you pleeeeease out english subs for the interview?? its just because the footage is from the 70's, its obviously really hard to understand what they're saying, so can you please put subtitles??!! tnx!
Joan Jett, the legend. Best vocalist in Runaways and her longevity is proof of her talent. I think Lita had a brief career resurgence in the early 90's but nothing like the career of Joan Jett.
@MrsZizzyBaluba yeaa yesterday i was in mi uncles house then we were talkin bands tht i like n hes soo lucky he went to ramones conert! ughh n he said he wanted a band n he wanted to be called Teeth lol cuz the album cover wud look cool :p
@2dboy umm after reading Jackie's stories about the runaways in a blog lita wasn't that bad and cherie was also mean in one story she said that they used to pick her and joan first and then then one of them have to face the challenge of trying to wake cherie up to get in the car .. I mean cherie wasn't an angle neither do lita jackie said that the most serious and good personalities in the band were joan and sandy and they didn't start fights with other band members
@BloemxEef im 13 n i agree wit u ALL da way! i blame radio for crappy music too! i like lita ford, the beatles, blondie, twisted sister, the ramones, suzi quatro!!! n of course the runaways n joan jett man!!!
Now, there are 3 differents kinds of music; Dance, Hip-Hop and Justin Bieber. What about rock n roll? I would like to be born in this years... If we're lucky, we hear a rock n roll song once a month !
MoviesGuitarMusic Still the case now, but there’s RnR out there. Check out the band Bleached if you haven’t. Elements of The Runnaways, The Go-Go’s & so much more
