@ximiraxelo7375 Oliver Hazard Perry class frigates. The US used them for a long while, but sold or sank most of them because their niche was better filled by other ships and the hulls were getting OLD. Mine was one they sank. No one aboard, all the doors, valves, and fixtures wide the Christ open, just pure, unadulterated battle damage, and she still took what would have been a giant ass whipping for more capable ships in WWII, and was riding just a little low in the water.

@@85isaboat53 Simply put, their combat niche is disappearing. Anti-submarine warfare is done by the Arleigh Burkes, anti-air goes to the Ticonderogas, and anti-surface is split between the two and carrier air groups. Much as I was proud of the old girl for tanking an absolutely _brutal_ bombardment and needing little more than a fresh coat of paint and a swabbie, that was all it was really good for: tanking hits. By the time I got to one, the conventional warfare scheme was that we'd close to within missile arming range (because we were also absurdly fast and maneuverable) and get personal with the 57mm gun (which never worked) and the self-contained assault team (points at self) which is how I'm a former US Navy sailor from the GWOT era with a coast guard special operations ribbon and very nearly a combat action ribbon (damn shame they didn't let me shoot back) who is qualified to operate an M60 automatic rifle. I had a _very_ weird career. Anyway, we were mostly we were relegated to counternarcotics duties and conventional warfare exercises.

Connery didn’t even try to change his epic Scottish accent at all. I’m pretty sure the filmmakers just had the other actors playing Russians sound vaguely British, and just be a little more stilted in their speech patterns. That way it would be less jarring than hearing Connery contrasted with Russian accents.

@@HistoryofEverythingChannel The FSB is not their version of the CIA. That would be the SVR RF. The FSB handles internal security including the Russian Coast Guard and Russian National Guard. It is effectively a catch-all homeland security agency. Before you ask I am doing my MA in international relations with my focus on international security and conflict.

​@@HistoryofEverythingChannelwell actually KGB and thus FSK and now FSB were always the ones taking care of the border control, patrolling and such. So yeah, the coastal guard falls under FSB jurisdiction. And yes, both KGB and SVR have competing spying networks outside Russia. The one handling the "usual" spying through diplomatic cover is SVR (Foreign Intelligence Service), while FSB mostly has "illegals" and snitches (non staff members, they have confidential contracts with FSB and normally only provide information).
