I’m glad you said that you “don’t judge her.” She was young when she had you. Your father did not know you had been conceived. Be grateful that she did not choose to have an abortion. Alex your birth mom had a really hard life! she made a great decision giving you for adoption. You got beautiful loving parents! and because of her decision also you have been educated! she knew that adoption was the best option in her situation been young, scare, and financially broke and without any family to support her! Alex, I dont know if you realize this....but your Mother Tatiana most likely saved your life by getting you out of Russia and letting you be adopted. Human Traffiking is a huge issue, especially in Russia. Id be willing to bet your poor Mom saw or experienced the brutality of that reality in the 80's hence why she gave you your best chance. Ask your Father, as exmilitary he probably knows about that situation at the time. Russian gov has been fighting it for a long time, but they can only protect so many. So glad your Dad went with you. Good on you for not judging, only loving her. You both deserve peace and happiness. Be blessed.

I love that your birth father went with you on this trip. I think he knew you might need the extra support and used the excuse that he wanted to also see her to go along. I also love that you understand your birthmothers situation. She clearly loves you dearly but she has had a hard life and is still living a hard life. She did what she knew was right for you when you were born. Of course I hate that you missed all the time with your birth father as well but you have had a beautiful life and now even more family!

How wonderful it is to have double the parents and able to love them all, I always wish parents would grant young children to love their step parents it’s takes so much pressure off the young mind, because children try to be loyal, not understanding that you can love your step parents without hurting your parents, it would make life so much more joyful for the child, parents and step parent

I am thrilled to see that Mikael and family had embraced and genuinely welcome you as their lost family member. I can tell he loves you very much. I admire your maturity and decency from the fact that you seem to understand Tatiana’s feeling and unique circumstance without judging her and still care and love her deeply as best you can- for the sheer fact that she is your birth mother. You are kind, generous, loving and a decent young man. I congratulate your New Zealand parents for raising you that way. Do not neglect them even after you’d found Mikael and Tatiana. Just let your birth mother know that you love her deeply and unconditionally and will always be there for her when she needs you. You’ve probably done so already. I was raised by the whole community of family. But I always felt a loss, when my birth mother came back into my life it helped alot. I have brothers and sisters I was never even around. I think your mama tatiana has had a fair deal of heartaches in her life so she is being very guarded and holding back, maybe fear of being rejected is there. But it is also evident she is proud of you. Give her time to warm up to the fact that you sincerely want to have her in your life regardless of what misses she may have had to take in her youth.

Sasha I really enjoyed seeing the footage of you, Tatiana and M. I feel for her very much. Just put yourself in her shoes. You can never forget the child you give up for adoption, being a mother myself. She had a difficult life no doubt but she can still smile. She made the ultimate sacrifice, something which I could never do, death would be easier. She had to bury the pain for all those years, not knowing whether she would ever see you! She numbed it I guess but she loves you dearly and tries to cope with all the hardships and guilt. I empathise with her more so than most as I have a deep understanding as a mother of two. I cannot judge her as I was not in her shoes. She needs unconditional love most of all. People should respect her for being her own person and dancing to her own tune. It’s really lovely to see your birth mother so happy when you visit her. some people have really hard life, and those who don’t have a hard life have no idea what it’s really like. Your mum did what she thought was best for you, and tbh realistically i think if she didn’t give you up for adoption, you’d have grown up in a very hard environment experiencing a very difficult life, especially in Russian in the 90’s. I left Russia in 95, and came to Uk in 97, I heard many of my class mates got involved in difficulties life. From what I understand many of not most towns/villages in Russia still have a very difficult life. Completely different from Moscow and St Petersburg. It was great to see your train journey too. I used to love going on the train in Russia when I was a child. Every time I went on the train, it was like an adventure, just being on the train. I’d certainly love to go again one day.

Give her time, she is probably dealing with shame and all kinds of emotions. She loves you and she will come around.

I love how honest and open you are! That is so rare! You should come to America! My daughter goes to a specific private school for youngsters that are really advanced. There is only 8 kids from grade 1-6 and I think it’s hilarious that 7/8 kids are all part or all Russian! I love them singing happy birthday in Russian! We had exchange students from China this year to learn English and to teach them Chinese. I think it might be easier for your sister to do a study abroad program like that where someone could interrupt for her if she couldn’t ask it in any language other then Russian. My husband’s sister is adopted and I know she struggled a lot growing up. I even heard people ask her why she didn’t look like my mother in law which I found to be hurtful. Her mom cried when she asked to find her birth parents so she didn’t. I hope one day that changes before it’s to late. So much love to you. Dear Alex ( Саша), its very important and difficult time for you. Meeting you biological mother especially. Even though there were 2 people involved, she was the one who carried you for 9 months and she made the decision to give you for adoption. No one can judge. Nobody. Only person who was in her shoes at that time. Also, remember, she was only ...what 18-19. Basically a kid herself. I just watched few of your episodes and I got hooked up to the story. I'm russian myself. I'm a grown woman. I'm 55. Looking at your dad I'm feeling more close to his generation. Back in the day in the rural area of our huge country two people met. They had a connection. They had some plans, but something happened. Its an old wound possibly for both mom and dad. They never had a chance to talk about it. As long as I understand. You grew up into a kind, very loving person with big heart. You are ready to hug whole world because you were lucky Misha and Tanya were ready to face their past. I see you getting very attached to Tanya already. It can be explained. I'm not a psychologist to understand what's going on, I'm just a woman and mother. I'd love you to get your answers if looking for them. Probably it would be easier if you learn russian, so you can talk to mom one on one. Everybody have the "skeletons in their clostes". You might never get your answer. Who knows? If you make you mom happy its wonderful. Love moves everything. Love makes this world a better place. Now you have 2 moms and 2 dads.
