@@AJayZyno most people would end up like Jimmy, his father is not attentive to him at all, yet gives him mostly everything he asks for, both of his parents aren’t exactly the best examples of hard work so to me, i think Jimmy could be A LOT worse, atleast he isn’t those weird ass rapey wall street dudes with daddies money
It’s so ironic that Franklin and Trevor (two sociopaths that had no father growing up) call Micheal out on being a neglectful parent in a hangout and express sympathy for Jimmy
Franklin and Jimmy weren’t completely different. Both around the same age and lived under someone else’s roof. It’s just that Franklin was willing to get his hands dirty doing criminal work and Jimmy couldn’t.
But I would say the difference is that Jimmy willfully stays home and does nothing. If he got a job, I don’t think Michael would ask him to pay rent or bills. He’d probably push him to save and get a place and a car. Franklin suffers from what a lot of minorities suffer from which is finding a way out of the hood. When your influences are gang related and criminals, it’s hard to just get in college or get a decent paying job that would be able to buy or rent a place. He only gets a place of his own when he becomes a hitman for Lester. Choice versus circumstance.
I wouldn't say that. Franklin has been dealt some tough cards and it doesn't help that his support group is made up of people who just want to bring him down or want him dead. Jimmy is more of an entitled brat who slowly becomes more mature over time. While Michael is no model father, he's provided more than enough resources for Jimmy to be successful but Jimmy refuses to get better.
@@irvinmorales1409This is the reason why Michael said that Franklin is the son that he always wanted. While having nothing and a lot of people are bringing him down, Franklin made it to the Top on his own and he's willing to take any opportunity he could take. He even had a large House and Lot on his own while Jimmy, despite having everything, still chooses to waste all the opportunity he could had.
I legit played GTA and one of those kids was on. He had voice chat on through Discord, he followed me around, being mad annoying. So yeah. Got my Sniper out and yeah.. and he was actually crying
Franklin is honestly the man for being so calm and understanding with Jimmy and tolerating him when most would just immediately get weirded out and ghost him.
Nah Franklin is a b*tch that’s why he’s always getting punked by everyone he meets literally everyone so him listening to jimmy isn’t really patience it’s him being the usual b*tch he is
@@daboy5256I swear! Like when he apologized to Trevor for laughing at him tripping over the fence at his aunt’s. Handled it with the patience of a monk lol “unfortunately you fell, and I made a mistake and I laughed. I’m sorry.” Franklin is mature as fuck and a good dude in a lot of ways
@@rushpatriot2866 not me exactly, i don't own a car. But last i checked a new simple car like Hyundai HB20 with no extra stuff like alarms costs around R$ 84.390(US$16.034) and the minimum wage is R$ 1.412 a month. If you work on minimum wage and want to buy a car, your only option is to sell your soul to a bank and spend a few years working off your debt and abusive tax income to pay out a shitty second hand car with high chances of losing it to a thief or the goverment TL;DR: our economy is f*cked
He probably can’t cry at home because he’d be ridiculed by his family, and Franklin is a pretty friendly guy so Jimmy feels safe enough to cry in front of him
As the game progresses Michael is gradually reestablishing his relationship to his children from biking with Jim, saving Tracy to her stalker ,rescuing Jim to his kidnappers and saving them from Devins goons he even helped Jimmy get a Job thru Lester in diamond Casino heist in an arcade.
Michael was there for his children even though he knew both of his children hated him. That's how great a father he is. When Jimmy is in trouble, Michael always has his back. He even protected Jimmy from Trevor despite Michael having an argument with him. Also Michael protected Tracy from Lazlow from taking advantage of her.
@@kendivedmakarig215 His kids didn't hate him really. They just couldn't be what their father envisioned his family to be like ("my family would be like all the other families in the movies" is something he says in the reveal trailer i think) and as a result they clashed a lot. Eventually when Michael realises HE is the root of the problem and resolves the issues with his family it becomes clear that they never really hated him. Besides they are teenagers so they hate everything anyways lmao.
And that’s a great example of why I chose option C, Michael’s kids needs a dad, Trevor and Michael can still be friends and they even get to kill their enemies (Stretch, Haines, Chang’s and Devin Weston)
Michael was kind of a shitty dad. If you spoil your children without teaching them how to be responsible for anything then they come out like Jimmy point blank. It’s not as simple as telling them to be responsible, you have to actually TEACH THEM. But people never learned how to be responsible parents and now we have a whole generation of Jimmies
@@R.T.Logan.80He's still a criminal if you counted his crimes he would serve 27 years in jail + 500 dollar fine for stuff like battery and possession of illegal substances (drugs) and theft
I wonder how many IRL Jimmies played GTA and felt called out by Jimmie. I hope they turned their lives around...although knowing the Jimmies i know....probably not. Its the world's fault, not their's
After my dad died when I was 21 I was a jimmy for like almost 5 years . Crazy part was i barely graduated highschool and quickly got into auto sales , everyone asking me what I’m doing and how to “get like me” and I dwelled on that and stayed unemployed until I swallowed my pride doing odd jobs .. 27 now and got my own place again . Never too late fellas
what a lot of people dont realize, is its extremely difficult to get the momentum going after spending years doing nothing and not going towards a goal. especially if all your life no one did a damn thing about it until it was too late. even worse hear because not only did they enable him, but his entire family just slowly became a train wreck
True! Jimmy doesn’t exactly have a stable family and only really got one after GTA V’s ending. I think often times people want to blame people like Jimmy and close their eyes to people like Michael and Amanda. I also think you should look to Tracy who also has no job and regularly is involved with shady people who will take advantage of her. These are two fucked up kids. Sometimes parents just expect people to learn things by just existing. They teach you how to walk talk and read and kinda leave the rest of it to you. There’s a lot more to parenting than making sure someone who you made who cant provide for themself doesn’t die. A lot of people forget that.
It's also interesting to see the hate and despise against Jimmy in the comments mentioning how horrible person he is and how not to become him, how he's the worst that one can become etc... And there are also characters in the same game such as a criminal like Michael or even mentally ill maniac sociopath like Trevor, who actually deserve such reactions more than Jimmy. But instead people admire and become fans of them let alone criticize them for their acts or even think about this for once. How do I explain this? Well I think very wrong role models have been portrayed and normalized to them by the media for years. 'A Jimmy like figure' who does no harm to others, or not work hard to waste his life like a slave just like others do to gain some benefits in life, is now actually someone who is not 'normal' to them and should be criticized with the way he lives his life. Yes, doing nothing is actually something to feel ashamed in today's world, because the system wants it that way. Imagine if everyone suddenly decides to live like Jimmy one day... Jimmy is a threat, a figure who must be constantly humiliated so no one should ever think about living like him, ever! No wonder that today's society is screwed tbh, with that mentality of people which leads to a world full of selfish people (mostly men, but also supported by women, both brainwashed by the media) who have no morals but only greed to win no matter what, waste your life with working no matter what. This is what the current world system expects people to be and they fall into this trap because they obey it without questioning nothing and rationalizing their selfish and greedy behaviors by humiliating people like Jimmy where he actually does nothing wrong but living his life only the way he wants. Majority of people prefer being Trevor over being Jimmy, literally. And am I supposed take these people's thoughts seriously? Haha. No. And these same exact people also wonder and ask that why the world is a shit place. Hmm... I don't know... Oh yes! Jimmy! It's all your fault bro!
@@vbw4501its almost definitely a case of projection. the people who vehemently hate jimmy do so because he is a reflection of the worst aspects of themselves.
If you ever think your life is bad and sucks, at least your not Jimmy lol. Jimmy is a sheltered kid who got everything he wanted, living in a fancy mansion, everything paid for, but he didn't want to put in the work for it. 20 years old, living at home with no ambitions to getting a job, going to college etc. A true NEET. The way how Jimmy acts with Franklin, is funny, You can tell that Jimmy is that rich suburban boy that tries to act all tough and gangster. I do like how at the end he starts to take life seriously, and decides to get a job.
At least Jimmy has some kind of financial head start (wealthy family), I'm worse than him in that regard. Though I don't blame anyone else for my circumstances
Jimmy has it somewhat good due to his wealth, with much bad as well due to his dad being a criminal, hence where the wealth came from. Jimmy is like the avarge present day teenager or 20 year old, but with corrupt, rich parents, so their all upper class instead of middle. I myself am 20 and and admitadly same position as Jimmy, except Jimmy likely doesn’t do any chores or help others when asked, and has a very flawed family.
Honestly Jimmy is one of the least morally corrupt gta characters. He starts off as an ungrateful loser but he recognizes his problems and tries to fix his life by the end of the game
Even when you almost got it figured out, on the games, with your friends, got a job bought your own shit. I too had no guidance from my father as he left (he’s present nowadays 9 Years later) I still feel lost and obliviously have no game to begin with. Yeah we’re all Jimmys. @@titaniumcranium3755 Yep, Michael is alot more psychopathic than trevor, hes manipulative, a pathological liar, irresponsible to a fault which trevor is aswell but its different, he can be "charming" if you wanna call it that. Michael is a narcissist, Franklin is kind of just an angry man with some anti-social tendencies such as remorseless murder and theft but thats kind of how he grew up and not something he necesserily enjoys and also aggression, hes the most normal out of the three of them.
I’ve met a few Jimmy’s in real life. It’s sad to see. Some were people I considered friends in middle school. They stayed stuck in middle school to say the least

It’s honestly sad because it’s a million type of kids like Jimmy all across America, despite their upbringing in a nice family with everything given to them by their parents they still feel the need to fill that void of acceptance, their not good at sports, not good in school or with the ladies, lack of friends to help shift their point of direction in life so they rather see the media representation of the gangster lifestyle, a man who gets the respect of women, guys and those around them for being a tough badass willing to risk it all under what he stands for. The issue that many kids in jimmys position is they don’t see the systematic oppression that forces many kids of color in that position based on birth, it wasn’t something they chose to be apart of, and the negative consequences of the lifestyle such as prison time, death of close friends, and a life full of mental health issues that arise from the lifestyle but it’s a lifestyle that many kids in suburban America can only dream of simply because of the glamorization from the media. It’s an epidemic of kids like jimmy who are willing to throw it all away for acceptance in the streets. The gangster lifestyle is bullshit. Wrong he attended bullworth academy where he got into a dispute with a kid named Gary then he beat him up and the whole school loved him and he had a buzz cut back then
The crazy thing is how Michael makes 0 positive contribution to society and yet, is the main Jimmy hater. Even Amanda points out how Michael the bank robber has no idea what a hard day's worth of work really is in that one cut scene
Difference is Micheal knows who he is..he never pretends to be a “good guy”. He also changes his life around and becomes a producer. Jimmy on the other hand has nothing and blames everyone else for it.
@@Rico-yx9tn Michael never said Jimmy wasnt a good guy. He complains that Jimmy is wasting his life away doing nothing. My point was that at the time of him complaining, Michael acted like he really worked so hard to put food on the table, as if he wasnt just a crook. If Michael was a lawyer or a doctor or a surgeon, then Id understand, but he set a poor example of hard work
The crux of his issues with jimmy wasnt about being a positive influence he just wanted him to *DO SOMETHING* michael didnt care if his son was a good person or not. And saying michael never worked hard is ridiculous, unlike jimmy michael didnt have anything handed to him, He almost became a football player, and as a criminal he did work hard he just wasnt a good person which again michael never cared about. The only reason michael brought up jimmy not helping society in his therapy session is because his therapist brought up jimmy being a good kid. If michael cared about jimmy being good then why does he treat franklin a career criminal like a surrogate son? You're just ignoring the story to let out some weird hate for michael.
@@Shadow666_ My point again was, Michael the no job / no career having criminal was the one judging Jimmy the most for doing nothing in life. If Michael was all good with Jimmy living a life of crime, he'd get him directly involved some how. He wants him to get a job, any job. And lets be real, Michael isnt a hard worker. He's an easy money kinda guy. Hard working folk dont rob and murder others. Thieving and killing is risking your life yes, but it isnt being a hard worker. But see, thats part of Michael's flaws. He points the finger at the stereotypical lazy character while being the type of easy money character that only other deeply flawed characters in the game might admire. Im not saying Jimmy is right in 100% putting blame on others for all his shortcomings, Im saying its silly for Michael to judge, in his mind he thinks of himself as a great success, which is kinda funny seeing as how the excuse for it was having nothing handed to him, which is the case for just about most people in America who start off adult life working a 9-5 (which was not good enough for Mike)
@Rico-yx9tn bruh I don't think you understand gta5 story properly if your saying micheal does not pretend to be a good guy when he clearly does, lying to trevor & getting him & Brad set up plus lying about the situation then trying to justify his actions. Micheal is a snake & doesn't care for no one but himself
Michael's whole family has so much detail that most people miss because they want to play it like a gta game and miss most if not all the smaller details in their first run in the story
I always wondered why the hell Jimmy drugged his dad and let him drive after drugging him. That was dumb ASF to me. He could have had a bad accident under those drugs and crashed and killed them both. 😂😂😂 Dude was wreckless.
such a great story about friendship this game were. Despite the whole getting dragged into doing crimes thing, Franklin is actually a very wholesome character.
Every time I play GTA five and I have to listen to Jimmy and the more I try and learn from him, I find it very hard to have sympathy for him because you can definitely hear it in his voice. He wants to be appreciated and accepted, but at the same time he is constantly doing stuff just to blame other people or primarily his father. I understand I get the fact that Michael is not a good role model for him, but it doesn’t mean that Jimmy should repeat the same mistakes or actions that his father did, especially growing up in luxury where Michael didn’t grew up. And you can also hear it in his voice when he’s hanging out with Franklin trying to act like he’s black or trying to act like a gangster but the thing is he doesn’t know anything about that life because he’s been closed in and more importantly people in street gangs will never accept him as one of their own when they take a look at him they see him him as an easy mark. Drugging Michael and blaming him for it was the last straw for me because he and his sister are spoiled rotten but he is literally the worst just by doing that he doesn’t have any good influences in his life.
The saddest thing I think I saw in Jimmy's room is that he has a guitar but he never plays it. Showing that he has shown interest other things besides video games, but Video games seem to be his default go to. As someone who uses playing Guitar as an alternative to playing Video games, this hits home for me. Edit: I'm 99.99% sure the canon ending is killing Trevor. Reason one, The Cayo Perico Heist shows Madrazo's son destroying evidence of Trevor and his mom doing the nasty. Reason two, when you do the agency start up mission with Franklin in the Online, he mentions something about "He has a friend who works at the movie studio" and that he "Hope's he's not at work today" (that second reason is enough for me but I have a third) Reason three, Franklin says something about how working with Trevor Phillips leaves scars
@plewisjr90 Went all vinewood means he vanished. Trevor wouldn't have let the Freaks show up and set up shop in Sandy Shores, even if he was living in the city. Ron would have told him about the freaks, and Trevor would have done what Trevor does best

how could he go easy on a kid he neglected for the most part, it was mostly Amanda who cared about the kids while Micheal just daydreamed all day and ignore his family, of course, until they were gone, like trevor said
I think you missed the entire of the story being my Michael is a shitty father who is only going to reproduce shitty kids until he changes his ways first. It's the hypocrisy of a man whose life is not one to brag about mad the kids he raised (or better put neglected) aren't some picture perfect family out of one of the movies he loves so much. Same here. Ive always liked how tolerant Franklin is of other peoples ignorance like Lamar, Trevor and Jimmy. Like Jimmy is so indirectly/accidentally racist to Franklin, but you can tell that Franklin knows that its not intentional and its just that Jimmy is stupid.
I wouldn’t say Jimmy’s life is sad per se. He’s lucky enough to escape the chains of capitalist conformity and live of his rich parents. He’s clearly intelligent. Maybe if he had a nurturing father instead of a jock, criminal trying to relive his glory days he would have thrived. But no blame it all in the kid instead of his disgusting father figure. A lot of protection here.
Jimmy is 20 years old and Tracy is 22. He is not 21, because Michael and Trevor refuse to buy him alcohol if Jimmy spends time playing for them, only Franklin does not refuse, because he is more irresponsible
Dont know why but i am turning into jimmy or i am jimmy. My dad is like michel wait no he's not a robber but he is fair , gives nice tips , always positive but i am brat who didnt do things which makes him happy. I am changing my life tho doing good things and results are positive and parents are but happy too. Just told my some moments or habits ingore it if you want
13:32 I don't know why but when Michael turns around and says "I'm sorry" it always makes me emotional because it's like he's saying "I know I'm horrible and I always will be but help me have a good day eith you just this once."
After watching this video. I want to do a new game on GTA V and do the Hangouts before the missions. I never gave that any thought really thank you for showing me this.
Michael is a great father but the game bends over backwards to try to convince us he’s an awful father when he’s not! His family just doesn’t appreciate him and the shit he does for them, he’s better off without them.
@@BxNcVsper777 I disagree cause he saves his wife from being arrested, he saves Tracy from her stalker, saves Jimmy from being kidnapped(twice), tries to get Franklin to walk away from a life of crime or when things get too heavy. Mike is the only decent person in the group while Franklin is too busy bitching about wanting to make something of himself yet stil gets pulled in the wrong direction by Lamar and Trevor is…Trevor
@@GunthersLoyalSoldier1307 Michael is an arrogant asshole, but one thing I absolutely hated was how they tried to justify Amanda cheating just because Michael is neglectful, I understand given their situation they can't exactly divorce, but that doesn't give you a right to cheat. She acted insulted when Michael got upset when that yoga guy practically thrust his crotch into her ass. Yeah, he still loves her no shit he would get angry at that. I don't like how the game tries to present it as if it all Michael's fault, when they're all fucked up. Especially when Trevor of all people criticises him, Trevor, the mass murdering psychopath, he's a great character, but he has no moral high ground to criticize Michael when he's done far worse.
Wow you totally missed the point of their father-son relationship. Jimmy is a horrible son but Michael is also a horrible father and an even worse father figure.
