Geo and Physical are in a bit of a sad state in terms of support from new characters. Dendro has been around for less than a year and is about to be equal to the amount of Geo characters.

Honestly they should introduce more mechanics for geo/physical, like Parry, like beidou, maybe combo counter ( the longer the combo, the more dmg increases, taking hit breaks that buff. Or something like that). Bleed effect is also good a suggestion, maybe poison too. Maybe a really heavy attack or continuous fast atks that just stuns enemies for few sec. Idk anymore

I run a mono geo with Itto at the center, Traveller as burst dps, Nungguan as sub dps and Noelle as shield. The unga bunga team is fun to play.

Found Itto's trial to be such a fun, chunky onslaught of hits. But, he was surrounded by other characters I had been eyeing, and I only have so much of a primgem budget.

The main thing holding those back are the enemy shields. Having to use a burst window just to break a shield at a terrible pace feels bad.

For geo i get that. For eula you have 4 units on the team that are capable of dealing elemental damage and eula has a 4 second skill cooldown. And youre also mixing cryo and electro. Which as 2 elements can literally cover all shield bases neutrally. Yeah eula sucks at shields if you unga bunga claymore it. But her team can proc reactions just as frequently as most teams if you just cycle units like those teams would. And shields dont care about your elemental damage. They care about proccing reactions. So her building physical stats doesnt affect her or her team's ability to damage shields at all. You just have to not spam claymore when youre trying to break a shield.

@@thatrashcan9993 shield totally care about your damage. lector and mage shields have 5x the HP of their masters and do not take critical hits, but they can still be bruteforced without any reactions. it's just very, very inefficient to do so because it takes effectively 15+ times as long as killing the monster itself on well built characters.

@@GenshinYuppe yes they can be brute forced but the way to break them isnt based on damage scaling. Its based off of reaction procs. Its not like eula suddenly doesnt proc reactions because shes physical focused. Eula gets a cryo tick every 4 seconds at least. Without even using burst she can get 5 procs of cryo in 12 seconds. And if she uses burst she can do 5 procs in just like 4 seconds or drag it out to get 6 procs in about 8 seconds (E, Q, E, swing for 4 seconds and hold E). Not to mention you probably have a rosaria, which is 2 procs of cryo potentially every 6.5 seconds and another 6 procs from burst. So eula can get 5-6 procs in a 20 second rotation and rosaria can get 10-12 procs of cryo in a 20 second rotation. Which totals up to an easy 15+ procs of cryo per rotation. Thats about as much as any other cryo team does across just 2 units. (Not to mention eula teams sometimes run 3 cryo.) The thing is. A cryo application that does 2 damage does the same damage to a lector's shield as a cryo tick that does 2 million damage. Yeah eula hits smaller cryo numbers than cryo dps units. But she still applies a similar amount of cryo. And she often times has another teammate applying cryo. And guess what. Eula's cryo damage doesnt matter. It just matters that she procs it. Which go figure, she does. A respectable amount. And her teams do. A respectable amount. Sorry, that cryo dmg cup doesn't make you do more damage to shields. Eula running a physical damage cup doesn't suddenly make her no longer proc cryo. She still has a 4 second cooldown on a tap E and a hold E that does 3 applications. Eula is just as effective on the shields cryo is effective against as most other cryo units. Again, you just have to not just sit on her and swing her claymore. Instead cycle all your units E skills. She has a fast enough cooldown to repeatedly weave her E in between them to break shields faster.

@@GenshinYuppe either way point was. Eula's teams have 4 units that all proc standard elemental reactions just like any other teams. So on shields that take damage primarily from reactions, her teams have no more problems than any other team thats using cryo and electro. Physical or not. Her teams problems with shields are no different from a team with just pyro and hydro units or a team with just cryo and hydro units. There'll be some shields its great on and some its not so good on. No different from how vape teams aren't the best at dealing with hydro shields and freeze teams suck against cryo shields. Since eula is still a cryo unit who does cryo reactions and procs cryo at a decent rate, breaking shields with her is no different from breaking shields with any other cryo unit (except that cryo shields are vulnerable to impact damage and she has a claymore so she actually hits those okay unlike other cryo units). Whereas in Geo teams theyre stuck with just Geo. Which isn't great for really any shields in the game.

@@thatrashcan9993 This is false.... A Eula team struggles against Pyro Lector shields. Their shield number is 72 and they are only weak to hydro. It would take you 144 cryo reactions to break their shield, and 72 electro reactions. even if you team swapped it would take a really long time to break said shield. In simple terms, cryo against pyro does 0.5 shield damage, while electro against pyro deals 1. It takes about 1 minute to kill a pyro abyss lector. If you brought fischl its slightly faster. If you went for the Raiden version of her team, its worse. If you doubt me, go and fight the pyro hypostasis without any hydro. Which has 1/3 the shield of a pyro lector. The only team elements that can clear everything in the game is... Geo / melee weapons, Electro, Dendro, Hydro This is because the Dendro Hypostasis can only be cleared by using dendro. And the Geo Hypostasis can only be cleared by Geo or sword, polearm, claymore attacks. Thus is why hyper bloom is the best team in the game right now, aside from the damage it can do.

In the beginning when the DPS checks in the game weren't as brutal as they are now, it was fun to use physical and geo. I happily used Noelle, Ningguang and physical Rosaria and didn't have issues clearing content with them. It would be fun to have a reason to go back to them at some point.

I mean the only DPS check is abyss floor 12. I agree that it's kind of sad some teams are invalidated (unless you're very heavily invested in said teams) from clearing f12 at 9 stars it's just one minor piece of content in the end

@@naunau311 It's not only floor 12. They are creeping their way into the overworld as well. Or do you think it's normal for a geo wolf to have MORE hp than Dvalin, a weekly boss? And that was back in 2.0. We're here in 3.5 with a green worm boss that on overworld has 25% res to everything (60% to anemo) and more than DOUBLE the amount of HP Dvalin has.

@@Sergmanny46 In the overworld Geo and Physical don’t struggle at all tho. All those two need is more units that take them to the next level. Geo needs a Nilou variant and Physical needs an off field electro physical unit for Eula to receive a huge team DPS gain.

Albedo is probably the best Geo character after zhongli because of his pretty good support abilities and EM buff that works really well on a lot of teams. Just....RIP anyone who missed cinnabar spindle.

More accurate to say that Albedo is the least worst geo character after Zhongli. Sure, he doesn't hold you back as much as the other options, but he's a "4th slot" character... the last one you add, the first you replace. And if you look at the type of "meta" teams where he has found a home, they're also the type of teams that are still looking for the right teammates that really fit them well. Like Albedo was used with Hu Tao for geo resonance... that's a character who had a team variant that used a freaking weapon as the 4th team member.

@@Axterix13 Zhongli for many people isn’t used for his geo damage at all, I would say Albedo is the first character whose geo damage matters for most people. And it’s actually a pretty respectable bit of damage and he’s pretty good as a sub dps off his actual geo damage

Having an "element" that does not react with others in an element reaction centered game is really healthy since it is different, not always people want to worry about reactions. However, geo does not react synergistically with other elements and physical is physical, so they are pretty much the same, and having two similar things is not good design since why have two of the same thing, so it is really hard to make both good and different enough from each other. Geo was probably supposed to be a defensive element but pretty much all elements have a defensive support nowadays (either shields or healing), even dendro has Yaoyao now. Not only that but dendro is the new focus from hoyoverse, so it will take a few patches until geo and physical can have the spotlight again.

I 100% agree. And imho, a way to fix this issue is to just let physical end with mika, and start releasing more geo characters to build on it being the main 'unreactive' element. I mean, geo's doing better anyways with mono geo. As for phys... well they tried to make it work, but it didn't, so they should just let it end at that.

If I were to change Geo in any way, I'd say to treat geo crystals like bloom cores where a third element can react with them. Like a Hydro buffed geo crystal could give some health or an electro buffed crystal having a stronger shield

there is no need to make them react. They simply need to be brought back to relevance, which is what they are lacking now. Crystallyze shields are almost always completely irrelevant as a mean of protection in the late-game, they are not reliable and you can barely feel the difference, plus you're not unlikely to have a shielder in team already (expecially in any kind of content that features an actual challenge) and since shields don't stack, crystals are likely to become completely irrelevant in their only intended use: protection. What they need is either improve the protection feature (which alone most likely won't change anything) or give them other functionalities, like embedding a damage bonus compatible with the element being turned into a crystal or things like that. Another example would be having them deal instant-AoE damage of the crystallized element when picked up, which would not require another reaction (which is the staple of what Geo is), but that mechanic seem unlikely since they already have kind of featured it into Gorou's kit. But who knows, maybe, one day...

Hoyo really fucked up crystallize big-time. These are my ideas to improve Crystallize: *Shard Self-Explosion* - crystallize shards will detonate on their own after 6 seconds (like dendro cores). - explosion will have AoE - explosion is elemental dmg depending on element used to procc crystallize - AoE explosion will apply elemental aura on affected enemies; you can chain other reactions. this way, we can use Geo to spread other elements too. we don’t necessarily need to rely anymore only on Anemo/Swirl for that. - Crystallize will be a backloaded way to spread elements while Swirl is a frontloaded way to spread elements. - this will synergize Geo and/or Crystallize with other elements and will open MANY new team comps. - a max of 4 shards can exist at the same time *If you pick up shard* - if you pick up a shard, shard explosion and its entire mechanic happen immediately. no need to wait 6 seconds. - you also gain a Crystallize shield. element of shield is based on the shard’s element and will resist attacks of that element. - if other nearby characters are within the AoE explosion of a picked-up shard, they will also immediately gain a Crystallize shield _(but it is 15% less sturdy than a shield from a picked-up shard)._ - note: only picked-up shards will grant shields to your character and other party members within the AoE explosion - shards that explode on their own after 6 seconds do not grant shields *Side notes:* - the mechanic of shards reacting to elements and getting buffs based on the shard’s element would be best for a 5* Geo character’s kit. - also, i’d like Geo to react with Dendro. give it a non-crystallize reaction. I can’t think of one now. but we deserve a Geo + Dendro reaction. These two elements make absolute sense to have a reaction. - *4-piece Archaic Petra (AP) should be improved too:* - any member of the team can pick up any shard and still get elemental DMG bonus for entire party - shards are automatically absorbed by the character on the field equipped with AP every 3.5 seconds. (Gorou absorbs shards every 1.5 seconds. So, Gorou’s ability is not devalued). - 30% bonus DMG lasts 12 seconds if it’s 1 element - can stack 2 elemental DMG bonus at the same time, but DMG bonus is reduced to 15% and duration reduced to 6 seconds for each element

The geo structures + dendro plants and stuff had such great potential for a reaction that could create fields of plants that would give us different effects imagine!!!!!! That reaction would have a great cooldown maybe 10 seconds, but would create an "seed on the geo" that could be fed elements to grow into different plants Geo + Dendro = seed Seed + Hydro = healing grass field maybe Seed + Cryo = a field of thorny plants that would deal ticking damage to the enemies, slow them, debuff etc. and It goes on, could have been great something like this reason for cooldown tho, before y'all question it: we dont want to have that huge structures being spammed everywhere, probably one would be created at the time and then you would refresh it or something maybe you could great another, like 2 seconds later, but that would delete the other one existent 🤔

@@San-cb9mj Actually they should be opposing elements since plants can grow into rocks and erode and destroy them. Was hoping that Dendro at least got a niche where it countered shields and destroyed Geo constructs but no Hoyo just couldn't be bothered with making interesting interactions.

@@yammoto148 Opposing elements work well together, though. Fire and ice = melt. Fire and water = vaporize. So whether opposing (plants break rocks) or positively interacting (plants grow in earth), there should be a reaction. And it can well be both (dendro + hydro makes cores, but also destroys hydro shields).

Honestly, i don´t mind for Geo to not react essentially with any other element. I kinda feel like how Anemo can swirl most elements, Geo is the opposite and is the most neutral element. I just wish we had more situations, were Geo is actually more useful than simply using any other reactions. Same goes with Physical. even worse is, that those phys-res for a lot of the bosses even discourages you to use physical. Still, if my Primo-Gods allow it, i might pull for Eula when she reruns. IF she reruns ever again lol.

yeah, it honestly felt like geo was supposed to be the element used to remove elemental application with crystallize. obviously that's not the case as doing an actual reaction is just better and keeping an elemental application on an enemy is never not useful. In the end, geo has a useless reaction with all the elements and it feels like there's a missed opportunity with crystallize

it's very easy to do. make enemies like the serpent knights, but for every other element. if you do an offensive reaction on them, it activated some counter attack / buff mode that makes them much harder and annoying. idk why they would do that for crystalize, like it wasn't bad enough on its own, but not OP stuff like vaporize.

I think one simple little tweak they could do to help geo is to make the crystalize shields come to you over having to run around and pick them up. It would make it a bit smoother to use and more in line with the shielding characters we have making it feels more synergistic in a way.

Geo was doomed since they make it's reactions a defensive type in a dps game, and then put enemies that nullified their roles completely just because they couldn't find a way to balance the Zhong buff vs Healers... The only thing Physical needs is something to break shield and elemental things, maybe a new artefact set. apart from that everything else in the game is just fodder for phys.

I can see Natlan being the last shot for Geo element or Physical to shine. Hopefully they’ll do something with either of those two, electro was stale before Dendro shows up

i think fontaine will focus physical the same way 3.0/2.0 focused dendro/electro because hydro units are far too overused and explored. doesnt seem a great idea more xingcius than we already had and mika's release can hint a suitable character for him since he cant bennefit both of the only 2 physical damage dealers in the game

One thing I never understand is why Hoyo is so insistent on making a Unit C6 dependant instead of getting benefit additionals when they have no intention of adding any Endgame Content to the game

@@Yuki-zz8hz there’s the Abyss which plenty of folks online like to ego stroke about. For plenty of players that alone is enough reason to justify the practice. And in time more end game content will be released; I’d be shocked if they truly expect the Abyss to be the end all, be all in that regard. If you’re gonna quote that interview, we still dunno who that was or their role or if their vision has since changed. It is kinda weird to want end game content for an unfinished game though.

I was and still am a Ningguang main and I really enjoy how straightforward the mono-geo or duo-geo duo-pyro teams are. While reactions are really cool, I just like the design of the geo characters and it's very disappointing that the element is so neglected.

Rosaria also is physical. Her C1 and C6 specifically call out normal damage or physical damage. Toss in her element being half of the one, physical reaction in Superconduct, she 100% was designed to be physical.

Geo’s one that’s purely carried by likeable (for whatever reason) characters. I hate the way Geo works in the game, but I love the characters so I pull for them. If geo could be applied, with crystallise only triggering when geo hits, and then allow geo to be swirled, that could probably help it a bit, as well as maybe a cool reaction with dendro instead of nothing at all.

Genuinely, I am not worried about Geo because it works just fine as a nothing element carried by really good characters, and also Itto is very quickly catching up to Ayaka in the ranking of "Hoyo's favorite child". He has some of the best VA's across all languages; has been featured in an event or quest, on average, every other patch since release; and has had 3 banners in a relatively short amount of time despite not being a top seller. Rip to all the physical dps mains, though.

That would be neat. Maybe the Geo version of Nilou's "Bountiful Core" could petrify, since Zhongli is currently the only character who can do that. I'm thinking something along the lines of "When a character gains a shield from Crystallize, whichever element caused the Crystallize reaction gains bonus damage to units with the Petrification status". This would allow for teams to be built around Geo characters who can petrify, but still opens it up to any element that can trigger the Crystallize reaction (basically everything but Anemo or Dendro). That's just me spitballing an idea. The only issue I see with it is that you're building a team that can stunlock enemies, but it's basically the same thing as a Freeze team.

Barbara is THE physical catalyst DPS. Slap one ocean hued clam set, and give her hp and maybe a healing bonus circlet, and big physical numbers are going to appear in your screen periodically. They also bypass hilichurl shields

When you were describing “assumed new player experience” i was laughing so hard, cause it was exactly the opposite of mine. I saw that most characters were doing physical damage with their normals and elemental damage with their skill/burst and went: okay, this ain’t it, i wanna do ONE type of damage with each character, so Sucrose became my first main and Yanfei became my second (getting Lost Prayers as one of my first standard banners 5* relatively early in the game solidified my path to catalyst hell as well).

I'm definitely in the camp where I prefer geo to be a non-intrusive part of my usually swirl-based team. I like Albedo and Zhongli becuase they can play nice in supporting roles, but I probably won't pull Itto even though I like him as a character. I don't want to try mono-geo and at least in the events I tried Itto in, he's otherwise hard to find a comfortable team where I don't just ignore him. Double for Gorou who's been sitting neglected in the corner.

that's because you have the wrong mindset for playing itto. itto is the center of the party. if you're ignoring him, you're playing him wrong. itto is super comfy. he doesn't have many weaknesses. he has high defense so shields are better on him, he has high dps, a large AOE, long reach, can reach flying enemies, no energy issues... you just need to support him properly. thing is, you need to go all-in with geo for that. or at least double geo. try zhongli itto xiangling bennet. that is a good compromise that pretty much always works.

@@GenshinYuppe I'll admit, only playing him in a few events didn't lead to a lot of experimenting with team comps. He is comfy and fun to play, but I know he has to be the main for it to work. I dont really remember what comps I used though, so maybe next time I'll try him with the one you suggested. But as said, I tend to play swirl based teams with my main deviation from that being some form of Ganyu freeze. I dont want to go mono-geo, and my Zhongli is pretty half built because besides keeping Ganyu alive I dont really use him much either. I'm not trying to say he's a bad dps, but his limited options + having to kick my usual mains and playstyle for him isn't realy worth it to me right now. I'll just enjoy his character as he shows up with his next festival idea or whenever we find him next.

i started the game with eula and my first proper team was geo which I still use both physical and geo teams to this day. Despite not being very reaction based, that's the exact reason why I use them, no real strengths but no real weaknesses either

i think geo could work well as a snuff element, opposing swirl it kind of negates elemental reactions, a reaction called stagnate or something which deals damage and kind of gets rid of the elements that are left on the characters (or even temporarily removing immunities//resistances and using it as more of a supporting element like swirl

I think something that could help Geo characters is adding a second layer of reactions to crystalize shards, that would make them blow up or "fragment" sort of like dendro cores but deal geo or physical damage. a "Fragmentation" reaction or a character who could make the reaction by being in the team (similar to Nilou's bountiful cores} would help bring geo or physical back into relevance.

Geo and Electro used to be my favourite elements before dendro also got added to that list. I'll pull for any geo that looks good to me regardless of the state of the element. I do think it deserves some love but in my eyes it's also in a better state than physical if only by a bit. Maybe one day when the game needs new mechanics to carry on they'll consider geo reactions.

For some reason I think the devs specificly designed Kaeya to a physical DPS in the early game? + Ar10 gives you a 4s sword that gives Physical bonus, in which being paired with Kaeya - aka the character that they would expect you to give the sword to. + With new players not being that good at strategies and combos, when you're done doing your skill then normal attack is basicly what you'd do until the skill is up again. => Early game wise Kaeya might supposed to a physical DPS to helps players get through the game's contents while slowly learning more about the game's combat system.

I feel like saying Geo/Physical aren’t popular when they have about half the options of other elements is unfair. If all things were equal, they’d still by the numbers be less loved. I am personally saving a ton for Eula and love my Noelle but I like claymores. The options are slim though and the same issue of claymores aren’t popular when they have 4 total 5* options is kinda crap. They need options for it to be a somewhat even playing field.

During the Ruin Serpent Abyss, my clear time with Raiden Hypercarry would end up somewhere between 6:50 and 8:00 depending on how well I managed my rotations and energy. The amount of skill required was fairly high. My clear time with Noelle would vary somewhere between 7:09 and 7:11. The amount of skill required was left-click.

I think you can fix the lack of interactions through kit design when it comes to geo characters (you can even alter what reactions do through their kit such as nilou did with bloom) but when it comes to physical it would probably be much more difficult to encourage their use in the game as long as elemental shields and bosses who require specific element usage exist

I find it badass when characters can solo enemies, regardless if they were designed to be supports or not. Some have different playstyles and I find it fun to see how they do alone. Solo Nilou and Layla rely more on their skill and burst while someone like Mika or Noelle can buff and/or heal themselves while doing decent Phys damage (I have Mika at lvl50 so this may not be too accurate, but still, he can buff his Auto Attacks for a short time). So unless I want to use something specific about a character, I'll build them to be viable for all fields (Main DPS, Utility, etc.), even if it naturally makes them mediocre overall.

To buff Geo,I have an idea.Either buff the crystallize shields to like Layla shields and make the obtained shard give you a %25 damage bonus of that element or reasonance buff.Cryo shields give you 15 crit rate,electro shields accumulate fav energy particles etc.Or just add geo reactions like Scorched(Pyro),Grounding(Electro),Sprout(Dendro),Shift(Anemo) n all.Lemme know your opinions.

For a pretty long while, I had a pure geo team, focused around increasing geo damage with gorou, Ningguang as burst damage and Noelle as main DPS. Put a lot of effort into getting them the right gear, but I barely use the team these days because my half-baked, poorly geared aggravate and hyperbloom teams just do so much more damage. I’ve actually been thinking of ways to make geo characters more usable-ish despite their current state. What I mean is that I tried to some extent to make geo characters a little bit more defensive and can keep your team alive without the need of a powerful healer like Kokomi or Jean. Here are some things I thought up starting with the 5 stars: Zhongli: relatively the same but his lvl 70 passive talent now makes it when he ults without a shield, he will gain a shield that will absorb dmg 70% of the dmg that his e absorbs, and if he ults with his shield active, it will basically reset it to full hp and reset the timer of the shield before it goes away. Albedo: his e thingy will increase the def by 15% and res to interruption by 12% of the active character inside the field, and his ult will give everyone an element boost of their element for 6 seconds. Cinnabar spindle can now be pulled on any banner Itto: his ult increases his def and res to interruption by 12% Noelle: her shield last 4 seconds longer and she no longer has to attack the enemy to activate her heal, she will heal the active character once every 3 attacks to her shield. her ult is now a big geo explosion and enemies hit by it will have their def reduced by 12% for 15 seconds she also increases the res to interruption by 12% to her allies ( excluding Noelle herself ) for 15 seconds Ningguang: since ning is somewhat of a dps I decided to keep her as one but still make her based of def. ning’s e instead of a wall, it is now a shield that she applies to herself (not her allies, if u switch u switch off Ning while her shield is active it will go away, but it will come back if u switch back to her) which last 18 sec and absorbs 80% of all incoming dmg, her shield is based off her def, additionally, after being ascended past lvl 70 Ning will gain a 60% geo dmg bonus while her shield is active, her ultimate has no changes Yujin: her e gives a shield after casting that last 10 seconds and when is is destroyed or time expires, the shield will explode in a small area and will heal the whole team based off 40% of her def her ult buffs all attacks for the duration of her ult instead of 5 Goruo: the same but instead of buffing just geo dmg, he buffs all elemental dmg and his lvl 70 passive is now the teams res to interruption is increased by 10% whenever he is in the party Ik some of it isn’t perfect but it’s just my ideas that I made up if u have any suggestions let me know

I love both currently not playing them cuz im ar 60 kinda burned out and just meme ing around with my Dehya. BUT 1st sig weapon i got was The Song of Broken Pine followed by a Redhorn later and now i have Bacon too. I love my mono geo team in the abyss and i love to go back and pick up and work on my Eula time to time. but reality is they get boring faster than my reaction teams cuz of the lack of reaction and the very limited team choices.

I love Geo but I feel they really dropped the ball by not having a special reaction to Dendro. But at the same time, it is nice being able to slot Zhongli and / or Albedo into any team comp and get good use out of them. Yun-Jin not really messing with reactions helps her a lot with boosting basic attacks. If anyone other than Geo characters scaled with Def, Gorou may even see play in those teams. Geo is a double edged sword, it is great for teams because it doesn't really react but also bad for teams because it doesn't really react (nor is it that good). But sometimes it is fun bringing a Geo team and just brute forcing your way through content with Noelle.

I'm in the process of transitioning from a physical Razor team to an elemental based team. (Working on Ayaka freeze team.) Playing all the way to AR 45 without using the element system at all sure is making it extremely hard to get a handle on now, unfortunately. I had the training wheels on for way too long.

i think it makes sense to have a fighting style thats on its own without reactions which is why its crazy that there are 2 i would love to see geo get reworked and physical get more attention basically just make physical what geo is now but i think its too late for that since there are now 5 geo characters that are made with the intention of them being on a team with only geo characters adding actual reactions would probably hurt the roster more than help it if they were gonna do it they shouldave done it early on doing it now would either make every geo character extremely op or make the reactions undesirable as most geo character kits are design to be only used in full geo team and i play geo but thats mostly a side effect of me only pulling for characters that i like lore/story/personality wise which trully made things dificult for a while since basically from 1.0 til 2.2 i only had pulled for 5* supports and was using mc as main dps. i pulled venti albedo zhongli kazuha on their first banners and didint use albedo until itto came out

I usually pull for characters for two reasons: 1) I think they're cute/cool 2) I really like their play style I don't really care about getting "the strongest" characters because it wouldn't mean anything if my gameplay would be limited to spamming charged attacks (looking at you, HuTao and Ganyu)

Geo should get reaction with itself like attacking enemy with geo leave on him geo aura and when you attack this enemy with geo again, it will leave a geo crystal for archaic petra or another set in future and deal geo damage based on defense of the character who dealt second hit

My second team that I recently built for the abyss is actually a geo team. I really liked Ningguang so I built a team around her. Coincidentally this team is really good against the enemies I used to struggle against. I also really want Zjongli and Eula because I liked their mechanics when I did the story quests. I also want to make an electro cryo team (for super conduct and overload) together with Dehya. Maybe an anemo character for swirling or geo for shields. I like the idea and I want to try out teams and find out what works for myself.

Geo is my favorite element when I started back on launch day and I also like physical too. The reason was because at the time there were a lot of elemental enemies and I couldn't get alot of new characters to deal with them, or didn't when I got Ningguang who is my absolute favorite character in both design and kit. geo and physical that don't require reaction for damage was very helpful.

I am glad for Mika. I have a team build I want to try with Razor, Candace, and Mika. I think the current problem with physical is that people are looking at it as a stand-alone source of damage, but every physical character also has an element. Eula doesn't work as a cryo dps, but she works as a physical dps because she is cryo, and superconduct and shatter reactions both exist. I don't have a Eula... but I am going to try a Razor Tazer team in which Candace infuses his normal attacks with hydro before he bursts. Then use Candace, Mika, and another cryo to buff physical damage through shatter while Razor's burst is down. I think the problem with physical is how people approach it in isolation from elements. The reason Xinyan is bad is because she can't trigger shatter or superconduct. Physical was never meant to stand alone.

I think this is a fair enough take, and Xinyan's problem is 100% that she requires 2 other team slots if you're really determined on making her physical. I've been playing Eula since launch, and her cryo damage is negligible, but the application could arguably be used for an off field damage dealer (even then though, ehhh). Her problem is, she was made to be exclusively physical, while when you look at Razor, his attacks deal both electro and physical in his ultimate so he can facilitate reactions as an effective driver while still doing decent physical damage. Eula-dedicated teams use her as a hypercarry where the supports funnel all their buffs into her, and because there's not really a good sub dps to also piggyback off of the phys resistance shred and damage buffs, so almost all your total team damage (80%+, maybe you can lower it to 70% ish or less with Yae, Fischl, or Raiden invested high enough) is going into a character that can really only do physical damage. There is no elemental overlap for Eula to tie into. And with electro off fields that fuel Superconduct, that's hardly any elemental damage to build into. So to expand on my first sentence, I think while your take is fair for physical characters like Razor, someone like Eula whose entire kit is dedicated physical and almost nothing else, she's forced to build physical in isolation without running teammates that sacrifice her overall damage (and in return, sacrifice total team damage as well and just being generally worse). If Shatter was atleast half as decent a reaction as Superconduct (because let's be real, Shatter may as well not exist. Crystalize is better than it), then maybe Hoyo could create hydro supports with physical damage in mind, which lets characters like Eula lean more into Shatter and characters like Razor to build hybrid physical + elemental reaction damage.

The next geo character could either be a charged attack buffer or a character like Nilou, but for crystallise. Imagine special crystallise shields exploding and doing geo damage while still scaling on EM. Or a new artifact set could be released that makes crystallise shields useable. Whether these changes happen or not, Itto is still my favourite character and dps.

I think there's going to be phys and/or Geo reworks coming down the pipe in 4.0 if they're both holding off on new Geo characters and still releasing new phys supports this late into an expansion cycle, especially since I can't imagine how they're going to make Hydroland not devolve into a boring clusterfuck of vape, freeze, and bloom shenanigans without some interesting new interactions to draw everyone's attention.

i find physical to be pretty convenient. like elements can definitely be restrictive at times, but having a physical character in your party is just a character ready to do big dmg immediately. no cooldown, no reactions just slash slash kaeya aquila favonia

We could have at least had Dendro and Geo reaction. Earth (Geo) and Life (Dendro) is like a fundamental concept and it would have been great to have these as elemental reactions in-game.

Yeah would have been nice if Geo + Dendro amounted to some sort of Area of Denial reaction. Basically burning grass, but through an elemental reaction with Geo + Dendro.

I feel like physical is going to shine.But not now.If we look back at two new region release after monstadt and liyue,They both introduce a lot of mechanic toward the game.Inazuma brought HP scaling for hydro,Def for geo and ER for electro while Sumeru introduce us more of EM for any dendro reaction base. Im sure that HYV doing it intentionally to shape the meta time by time so people have something "new" to try. But my only expectations here is szenaya being the region that introduces this mechanics and its probably going to take us another years to reach that place.

i think varka could be an interesting way to bring more to phys or introduce a new mechanic since he doesnt have a vision. my idea is to have varka have what the treasure hoarders have which is the elemental bombs or to be only phys. i think varka being only phys and having a really strong scaling maybe with hp to bring up his atk would be amazing and i think he could be an amazing unit but if he doesnt have a vision he likely will be unplayable or will be given a vision

I don't know about Itto teams and Eula, but i love to play Razor. Currently, he uses physical build as i got C3 mika from the current banner. I will invest more in to them later. Also, I am thinking of building NO L, aka Noelle. With geo element I play zhongli and could play Albedo. I mainly play characters, which I love their playstyle, or how they look.

I like geo, my TCG deck is mono geo, but because of many of the points you made I had little reason to build a geo team. I finally built Lady Ning because i recently c6'd her, but I hardly have a real geo team built, she's more of a driver for yelan & Raiden Shogun.

For Physical, there is some future with Superconduct and Shatter reactions to get updated. For Geo, well they need to make it react in some way other than simply giving a shield. The most forward way to make it react is for the reactions to happen as you pickup different crystalized elements. Pick up Pyro crystal and Cryo Crystal and you get a Melt reaction shield. What does it do? Well they can get creative with that.

Well i do like geo, the thing is since i dont have the spindle i skipped albedo and ended up not building a geo team at all. If spindel ever comes back i will start to pull for albedo and itto and make the team, but the fact that a big part of the team is locked behind a weapon that is not avalible makes me just not wanna build it and pull for it

i've been playing physical shenhe with mika + raiden ei + yaoyao for my friendship team. shenhe, mika and yaoyao are there bc i have no other characters that aren't maxed yet, so the electro slot is technically a free slot. but it's fun. physical OHC kokomi teams are so fun too. but physical is not something you really go for if you're looking for minmaxing or however that goes. part of the fun of physical is its novelty, i guess

I wonder if we can get a visionless character which is going to be a dedicated physical character, in which they could utilise different weapon types (like Childe or Mika), where they changes to different weapons, and their main weapon being whatever you choose it to be, although that might be too complicated. The different weapons could have different scaling and playstyle. While their burst would maybe be different for each weapon, aswell as having different energy costs. Like for claymores you smash the ground with a higher energy cost, for polearm you dash towards the enemies with a low energy cost, for sword you slash forward consecutively with a moderate energy cost, and for bow you either shoot a rapid fire of arrows or the arrow rain like Amber. It would also be cool if we have a dedicated barehanded martial arts type of character that doesn't have a vision, it's like Heizhou without the anemo. These are all interesting ideas and could change the way Phys characters would be played, however the lack of element would definitely hinder them, but maybe visionless characters could have a special bonus, or a resonance that helps them deal more phys dmg or shred phys res. This is all just an idea, and idk how plausible this is. But you know, I thought it'd be cool lol.

I mainly use geo and really like physical attack and well it's true some lack in pure physical. I mostly to use anemo traveler because they are very good at shredding shields, and most geo dose not. Also there many characters who flat out ignore physical DMG or deal little to no DMG. Besides geo I also use character like amber who I made a Phy and Pyro DMG hybrid and I use venti with the combination of albedo. some of the abyss enemy like the abyss herald have a Element shield when they are low were Phy just won't cut it. And because element reactions deleted enemy it feels more power full but I like to fight the enemy with physical Attacks head on and also trying dodging because I have fun with a challenge also Phy DMG is somewhat satisfying

I use DEF scaling Geo for playing really badly on mobile and or for Sumeru to not zap/burn fungi, but now that I have that one geo team, the game would need to feature creep it for me to get more geos. I don’t plan to build physical or attack scaling geo because as a later returning player (played more starting patch 3.2 or so), those characters are not versatile enough to be worth the artifact farm for me.

I love both and it hurts. I was assigned phys main by RNG twice, first by getting Razor as my first non-freebie character in my main account, and then on my secondary by getting an accidental Eula early-ish in the game. I've pampered them both to the best of my abilities (at least weapon and talents wise. with artifacts, uhm, pale flame domain is incapable of throwing me a bone in either account). The reason why I don't use either all that much today is because phys feels powercrept for sure compared to early game and early Genshin. I love Razor but my son has a restrict 4* dmg ceiling for physical (even the meme full EM Razor team with Nahida XQ c6 Benny is much better). With Eula, she's cool in most domains but abyss just isn't comfy or made friendly for her, being filled with shit moving or spawning to the other side of the room and making her waste her burst a lot. At least I wanted Mika to play her more in dailies but I was haunted by all Sucroses and Dionas last night. Oof. Now about geo, I was already saving for Albedo for Xiao teams when Itto and Gorou were drip marketing'd so I quickly targeted at them three to make a mono husbando team. I skipped 3 banners to get them all, they're well invested and do quite good dmg for a welkin-only account. Even got a C1 for Itto on the Scara rerun to play him more smoothly. I really like mono geo's brand of bullshit, but then again as you might've guessed I'm an unga bunga enthusiast and also a degenerate because I'm a mono anemo believer. I think they're fine despite the meta and lack of reactions and Hoyo's lack of love, by using Gorou as a glue. It's like an expensive phys that feels more powerful and tankier. But I have to admit I often forget I have mono geo Itto when choosing the team for abyss, like more of a last resort kind of thing when nothing else works. Lately for my unga bungas I've succumbed to hyperbloom Cyno instead, which might have synergy issues but it has the same monke neuron activate as Itto but while being less boring to me and doing crazy dendro reaction numbers. As for my secondary and geo... Let's just say I put my Ningguang's lost prayer on Heizou and onfield Nahida...

I never played with a dedicated pyhisical DPS, but I really like to play my Mono-Geo-Team with Itto even at AR60. It's still good enough to 36* abyss and that all I need. The DKC Tropical Freeze music in the background was amazing as always 😁

I really like to play my Eula/Raiden/Yunjin/Zhongli Team but yeah it's true that there's only one reaction on the game that is good for physical dps that is Superconduct. I think we need more, or even reworking on shatter, the damage when breaking frozen ennemy is nothing, it can make some hydro unit be more used whith cryo and Electro if shatter was like Quicken. Even a really good physical set that boost damage after a superconduct reaction.

As we saw dain uses a different kind of element, might be some abyss or space element. Later, when the element becomes playable, geo might get buffed. The abyss or space element might do some reaction like sucking geo into itself or some AoE dmg by manipulating dendro application into spikes or size of geo pillar or dome of zhongli and traveller.

For Crystalize we have the Archaic Petra. The 4 Piece Bonus gives Elemental DMG Bouns depending on the Element of the Crystalize Shield. It is a long forgotten Method, because most Geo Character want the Husk Set. If we get in the future a Geo Character which for example has elemantal shredding when he Crystalize, that could work well with the Archaic Petra.

I have Xinyan Physical while Eula is on hold for rerun, and I RECOMMEND! Amazing Pyro application for particles to charge, Physical damage is over the roof (hitting 100-200k constantly every ult), altogether she deals 35-40k Pyro damage with 200-400k Physical between ults, Using with someone like Layla for melt reactions, it can get higher, but reactions are mainly for the Burst energy. It helped me clear 11th floor in Abyss, but mine is too weak for 12th floor yet (Talents are just lv8 for me) Really heavy in terms of resource, but worth it!

I definitely avoid rolling for Geo characters, but not necessarily because they don't react with anything but because I can NOT be bothered to farm the 3+ different high tier Husk artifact sets that are required to put together a good Geo team.

huge barrier, but you don't need to farm husk at all if you don't want to. assuming you have zhongli, that obviously doesn't use husk. itto can be built with crafted retracing bolide just as well as husk (only difference being a lower E number, but it's close to irrelevant). Then for the other two, you don't need them to be geo at all, you can use two turrets on the other slots, or bennet + xiangling, or gorou (whose BIS is a 3 star set anyway) and fischl, rosaria, really, any off-fielders. if you want to pull for itto, look into that. husk is only narrowly itto's and noelle's bis. i don't think it's worth farming for them. it's only albedo that pretty much requires husk, and you don't really HAVE to use him. itto can use retracing bolide, husk, shimenawa OR the wanderer's anemo set (yes, really). noelle can be built with retracing bolide, gladiator, husk, or the wanderer's anemo set, and shimenawa (although this one requires extra care to only use shield AFTER you burst and honestly is kinda annoying). if you want proof that husk isn't a set you need, go look for my noelle in The akasha systems webpage, 110 ER leaderboards. she is the only one using bolide... and she is in the literal top spot in the whole world for that learderboard. my itto is top 0.1% too using bolide too. heck even my hutao is top 8% or something using bolide because i got so many good HP pieces, lol.

As a very new player, I'm so very confused as to why Physical is so left behind, even if the game is about mixing elements to get reactions. Shatter exists as a mechanic, superconductions lowers physical resistance, Mika now exists, and there's a lot of normal attack and charge attack modifiers on the gear. I don't see how Geo also couldn't have interactions with other elements that aren't defensive orientated.

hopefully the recent warrior's spirit event was for testing an upcoming physical related buff/character it wouldn't be the first time they use a limited event to test out new mechanics/character related abilities the parry focused combat was a lot more fun than just mash m1/e/q and instakill everything
