@@arielruh7773 It just felt pointless to continue when the villains responsible for why Sarena and her friends were sent from the Moon to Earth in the first place were gone by the time jr high was almost over. But villains not connected to the Negaverse kept on coming

TORONTO, WITH DIC, AND OPTIMUM WITH THE MOST ICONIC RE-WRITTEN VERSION, FULL OF LOVE, COMEDY, AND HEART BREAKING DISASTERS, AND S.M. TRIUMPHS OVER EVIL 🙈 🙊 ,.....AND THAT MEANS YOU!!!!!!!! .HI IN APRIL 2023A.D.!!
Sailor Moon (breaks 4th wall): “I apologize in advance, the disappearance you’re about to see will not be pretty. And if you have young children, this would be a good time for them to leave the room.”
0:53 It's interesting that she owns being the princess in this dub, while in the original I don't think she did. In fact she wanted to be just a normal girl, not a warrior or a princess. She just wants to be Usagi. In this part, originally she says "Even if you get haute couture clothes you won't replace our uniforms" or something like that.
Yes I think that change of dialogue really works as they also literally just got back from seeing/reliving their past lives. And it also shows more character growth from Serena in that as you say she used to just wanted to be a normal girl in the beginning or like most girls just saw the cool, fun side of being a princess, verse the true leadership that role brings. I think there really was a chance to kind of combine the best of the old dub vs the original when they redubbed the show, but sadly it was more staying nearly 100% true to the Japanese translation when little changes like that one line above could have strengthened the show even more in my humble opinion. The clothing line makes Sailor Moon seems much more shallow and at this point in the season she should have grown more I think.
@@Sadiep16 no, it doesn't work. what kinda girl, after finding out something tragic, would go all sassy and confident minutes later when confronting her enemy? not that girls usually have to confront powerful enemies, or that they get magic powers.. but you get the idea. usagi has just found out what she actually is, or used to be in her past life, how it all crumbled, and what responsibility she and her friends are destined to just because of that. it is some heavy emotional and mental baggage, especially for a 14 year old. it makes total sense for her to want to come back to her normal life, and not devote her entire life to fighting evil by moonlight and winning love by daylight JUST because of some shiny gem and some weird shit that happened in the past because of it.
in my opinion, despite the entire "clothing" line in the original being EXTREMELY cheesy in such moment, it also carries an important message. truthfully, it's not about the clothing itself, but rather, a girl's dignity. girls are strong, and when ya mess with one - a simple "sorry" or a new dress won't get you away with it. sailor moon is a true feminist icon and you won't change my mind
"I'm NOT letting this Moon child defeat me." TOUGH LUCK, MALACHITE. SHE'S YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE. IF NOT, THEN ALL FIVE OF THEM ARE. SHE'S EVEN MORE POWERFUL THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS! "She's no match for the Negapower!" And YOU'RE no match for the Moon Power. And you're finding THAT out the hard way.
Terri's acting was caused by Serena sounding like a Valley Girl in 1995, she is a foreign exchange student in the strange country of Japan, then weird events happen with monster girls.
"Even if you went out and bought us the finest fashion trends as replacements, I will NOT forgive you for shredding our Sailor Uniforms! In the name of the Moon, I'll Punish you!"
I like the "KLONG!!!!!" sound effect when S.M. hits back the energy blade of Malachite; when she back hands with the Silver Crystal Wand like a tennis racket; and maybe she learned tennis 🎾 from Molly's friend Katie, when she was is the DIC Episode 11 called, "MATCHPOINT FOR SAILOR MOON", that first introduced Nefflite as Maxfield Stanton when he was disguised as a new, young businessman, with his own company, who just moved there a few days ago, with his Super red sports car, but also constantly badgered by Madame Zoicite. Wow, lots of details, ok!! HI IN MAY 2023A.D!!
When they combined all of their powers that's what created the force field! They can call upon their powers to combine them and do several different things they wouldn't be able to do separately!
I hate the voices in the new dub. I can't even tell them apart. No nostalgia glasses here. Literally when you close your eyes with the new dub, you can't even tell whos talking. I am so upset
Same here! I tried to watch it and in some parts Venus and Moon's voices sound so kiddish. Sailor Moon's voice actor's voice gets irritating when she yells an attack or transformation phrase. I wish we could have gotten these voice with the more faithful dialogue it would've been amazing!
The shows are predictions. That are unfolding currently instead of the girls imagine collectives high minds one mind in many people. The silence scouts the power ranges the great houses. The 4 elements well 5. The Avengers the beatlebourg's. It is that team in every childhood show that equaled representing 5 to 10 colors.
@@ryanwitwickifaddegon4291 in the original, she attempted to heal kunzite, but he denied it out of his dignity - he said it so himself. so he tried to attack her, and she blocked the attack, thus killing him by accident.
It’s only nostalgia that makes me look back fondly on this. Now I’m older, I hate they changed his name to malachite, changed the sex of Zoisite and all of the attacks have different names. I will only watch with subs now
The change to Malachite actually works for two reasons, though. 1. With the prefix "Mal-" in his name, it exudes a sense of evil. 2. Kunzite, as a gemstone, is pink. Whereas Malachite is green, just like Zoicite, nephrite and Jaedite.
@@Katrawr1988 OH. I'm guessing they decided to change his name to avoid unnecessary and accidental racial issues. Especially since he's perceptively the one with the darkest skin of the Shintennou. So, to avoid "Coon-zite" from being a thing, they just changed his name to Malachite.
@@jerfuhrer2581 I see your point, the 90s was a different time and I'm glad the newer dub seems to have moved on from that. Not that I have watched it, I much prefer it in Japanese with subs.
@@Katrawr1988 well, the new dub isn't airing on TV. SO it doesn't have to face the same scrutiny of "Boards, Standards & Practices." They don't have to be screened to avoid any accidental racism or anything.
Those in french aren't better, especially about the translation : super cheesy and ridiculous. Sailor moon is definitely one of those animes that you need to watch in original version with subtitles.
@@nikubitsa I grew up on this one, but even if I didn't, I still prefer it over the others. Everyone is not going to like the same things. It has nothing to do with being American either.
