Yes! And Jesus lay down His life for us, taking on the sin of the world that we might through faith in Him have fellowship with God restored! That we might be saved from our sins and judgement
What's more, usually the sentenced to such death were screaming while dying, cursing in despair. With him, they prayed, chanted hymns and had peace, which is an absolute miracle...
I cannot understand how the prison cell soldiers didnt break down while hearing these men singing and praying peacefully when facing a such slow and horrible death. Did they have no soul or any human left in them?
Thank you for this video! So many things are not taught in schools, so we are taught by researchers of history. This man had a purpose to give love, comfort and compassion when so many were surrounded by evil doers. He fulfilled his divine purpose and for that we must never forget his sacrifice. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
The photo of the priest is held at my Polish Church in Cleveland Ohio. I always wondered when I was little what the picture was. I asked my dad about 5 years ago. And he told me the story of this Preist, and.. how he saved this man's life. Afterwards, I entered that church and looked at the picture differently. Before seeing it as a picture on the wall. Now, I see it as a picture of a hero.. a man whom saved another man's life for love and god. Thank you for the video Patrick.
@@romanstaniszewski1030 No reasonable person dissolves either the Fire Department or the Police Force just because there have been or are some inept firefighters or dishonest policemen in their ranks. Without the Catholic Church, Poland would not have survived its historic turmoil and would not exist today. Moreover, no honest bird defecates into its own nest like you do. Shame on you!!!

A priest at my church met Fr. Kolbe. He has written a book about him and what he experienced when he met Fr. Kolbe. As you said, the man Fr. Kolbe saved was at the ceremony were St. John Paul II made him a saint. What you didn't mention is that soon after attending the service, the man passed away. I find this to be poetic justice, in a way. The man who was saved by A stranger was able to see that stranger become honored by the Catholic church.
It would be interesting to know what he did after ww2, fhe man St Maxmillian Kolbe saved. We know family dead but what did he do, how did he live? Did it change him --this being saved?
I just found a definition of poetic justice. It seems it CAN be taken as you expressed it; so, I was wrong. I apologize for saying somewhere you were wrong.. Im the one who needed a better dictionary/thesaurus not you. ID thought just retribution as. Revenge. Definition said it can be positive like reward.
Where does the antisemitic notion come in with St. Max? I heard he advocated THE ELDERS OF ZION. ideas. I know it was a horrible book, so how was St. MaximillIan Kolbe involved; anyone know? It is hard to believe when he saved hundreds of Jews by hiding them as well as partisans or others?!? Does anyone know? And surely, Pope wouldnt canonize him if there was doubt. Look at Pius XII. HE saved 80000 or 100000 or is it 860000, and they wont canonize him. Regardless, he was a good man and even if in purgatory--which I doubt, he is Righteous Among The Nations by Israel. HITLER wasnt his favorite either. He hid Jews and others in Vatican or closed his eyes to the allied flyers being saved. And that THE SCARLET & THE BLACK film didnt do him justice. I dont think he advocated assassinating Hitler but didn't ban it either. He was concerned with how his being outspoken would cause Nazis to treat Catholics & Jews. He had had enough experience dealing with hitler under Pius XI. That HITLER'S POPE book is a tissue of lies. It is like the opponents of Church act like priests approve of pediophilia! They dont, and Church may have been naive or maybe just too reluctant to condemn individuals w/o absolute proof; but the Church has tried to be just. If She condemns, she is an ogre--Inquisition, tyrannical; if slow to condemn, then Church is painted as complicit.-- Not fair! THE SWISS GUARDS ARENT SS LET ALONE REAL POLICEMEN. IF people think Pope is no one outside Church, why act like he is Caesar and world Roman Empire? I never will get it!
St. Maximilian Kolbe is my inspiration to do good for others, even if it hurts you. He truly deserved the title of "Saint" I have no connection to him, but he is still my hero
Dad heres a question for you son whos maxamillion kolbe bet you dont know Son . Son replies he was a man who chose to starve to death to spare another mans life in aushwitz Father replies oh go away you know it all
tanseygreen My church doesn’t mean you die for anyone anytime. They chose Maximilian Kolbe because they knew what he represented. Taking care of your peers and putting others before yourself loosing your human nature of being selfish to care for other people. Sacrifice what you have for your neighbor, celebrate other people’s successes. That is what that beautiful man represents. So you should try it out sometime. Bless to you my brother ❤️
I’m from Poland ! I learn how to love day by day . I learn how to renounce the whims of this world. I thank the saints for the example of a worthy and valuable life . Thank You Farher Kolbe ! Thank You Sister Faustyna Kowalska ! Thank You my Father Pio !
And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend. -- Jeremiah 19:9 "taste like chicken" - the real Christian.
I want to visit Poland someday. It's one of the greatest nation because of these events that happened during WW2. Through this kind of event you do not discourage a country, you make it more powerful and interesting for the future generations. Respect from a romanian girl. 🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴. ❤️❤️🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱
Everyone should respect the regular people of countries. There are always people who make our countries look bad. Most of us know there is always a mix of people vying for CONTROL in our countries Some laws have caused international concern, but JOHN PAUL II was a Pole. I hope that most Poles are like him or St Max. Kolbe and St. Gertrude Stein or her nun name. So many good saints from just this last century.
HI There is no ' Immaculata' possible according to the Bible. There is no other authority other than the biblical text. To add anything [ Man made Doctrine ] or take anything away[ YHWH's Calendar Feasts] is Heresy. Shalom to us only in Christ Yeshua.
@@toosiyabrandt8676 read the bible. Mary said all generations shall call me blessed. She said this when she visited her cousin st. Elizabeth. Jesus said who ever will marry a divorced woman will commit adultery. But protestant marry again and again. Jesus said this is indeed my blood and flesh. The catholic religion gives us proof after proof is the only true religion. Please read our lady of Guadalupe that happened 500 yes ago. The picture still there. Many true apparitions, like our lady of fatima. 70000 people witnessed the miracle of the sun. The intact bodies of some saints. Our God said many will seek me, but they will not find me.
Truly a brave and dedicated man, but nevertheless God's unchanging word tells us: Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?" Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me". John 14:6. "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12 i.e. The Lord Jesus Christ.
I'm so glad I stumbled across this video. I was gifted a book about Maximilian Kolbe when I took his name as my Confirmation St in 1983. I was in my 20's a decade later when I read that book in one sitting from cover to cover. It became a challenge towards the end of the book to read through the constant stream of tears. A truely remarkable man. As the book is titled - A Man For Others. Thank you so much Patrick and team for this video.
Wonderful video. I had the privilege of attending the canonization of St. Maximillian Kolbe on Oct 10th 1982 and twice meeting the man for whom he gave up his life....as a young man it inspired me to also serve and sacrifice for others. I have visited prisoners and told them his story to inspire hope in their situations. Thanks for your work.
Jordan Bell There are only two possibilities. The world created itself out of nothing, or was created by a being of unlimited intelligence (God). There is no third option. The coming of Jesus Christ was foretold by prophets thousands of years before His birth, and the New Era began to be counted from Him. Turn on your thinking. I strongly recommend the New Testament. That is His testament.
@Yokai369 The Strength of Human Morality? Human morality comes from the Ten Commandments. Any alternative to this is an anti-moral utopia that always ends in human tragedy. God is not a being hiding cleverly in the sky, Jesus Christ was very alive with us 2020 years ago.
segaprophet, although the use of music and color greatly enhanced the emotional quality of this video, it was done since the emotions are the best way to understand the purely horrific actions commited so long ago. The modern mind could not fully grasp the true heroism of the action of this man without the emotional concept present.
I’m not at all religious, but I revere all people who love others. We all make mistakes, but that doesn’t stop us being the best we can! What a wonderful man he was!
He was sent to the concentration camp for sheltering Jews from the Nazis and having devoted his life to Mary he was executed on the 14 of August the eve of the feast of the assumption- extraordinary man a true Saint
Thank you for this movie, Patrick. I am in the same order as Maksymilian. I try to understand him every day and I come to the conclusion that I miss so much. Maksymilian was a grat man and you are incredible that he is an example to follow for you.
This was a beautiful video. I felt deeply emotional hearing your telling of Maximilian's story. You have done him, and all the other victims of the Holocaust, a great service by sharing this story with us. Thanks to the service of people like yourself, their story will not be forgotten. Not in our time at least. Thank you Patrick.
Naprawdę warto pokazywać i mówić o takich wielkich ludziach. Postać Maximiliana Kolbe budzi we mnie ogromny szacunek i pokorę.
Thank you for making this film about an extraordinary man of faith, Maximillian Kolbe. May everyone who watches this short film remember the ultimate sacrifice this person made for his fellow human being. God bless all who suffered in this place of evil.
I am Catholic, but no longer practicing. Thank you for your video. Hearing of the awesome saints of the church always makes me yearn to go back to mass. I have always admired Kolbe and Kolbe was a man who definitely put the needs of others before himself. Not many people know of St Maximilian Kolbe and thank you for teaching the world about St. Maximilian Kolbe.
I respect him a lot and would do the same if i were him. He was brave and he is a hero. One of the best heroes ever. Gajowniczek died in 1995 and pope Francis visited Kolbe's chamber during World Youth Days and prayed there in silence. Without cameras. Alone. Thank you so much.
I have so much respect and appreciation for you telling these stories. It is beyond important to never forget the history the world desperately needs to remember.
The fact that these officers still did what they did after they experienced Maximilian's actions is truly disgusting. How do you not show compassion for such a wonderful human being is beyond me.
What ever you believe, this man was a truly honourable and good person. What he did was brave, wonderful and nothing short of the most wonderful gift that he could have ever given for another living person and then to spend his final days helping to calm and ease the passing of 9 other people. A real light in the darkness of Hell on Earth.
Man, this was really emotional. I can't help but think what that Officer was thinking when the Priest came up to him too offer he's life in exchange for that man crying out for he's family. Most likely regard him as nothing. I would have been shocked as there are more then dozen in that camp struggling for the will too live while this man gave up he's for someone he didn't knew. Man it's sad too hear story's like that for people like him.
Oh dear, I cried a lot. Thank you for sharing their story in such a beautiful (and well made!) video. It breaks my heart whenever I think about those time and what was happening back then. It's nearly hard to believe what choices people were forced to make! They never should've had to! It was an extremely low point in the history (and sadly one of many). I just hope nothing like this will happen again and other parts of the world will find peace and respect for humanity too, regardless the faith, race or gender.
It would please Maximillian Kolbe to no end if, when you hear his story, when you learn how he died by giving himself up to murderers, when you think about his total sacrifice for the sake of another... you would see in him a glimpse of the One he was imitating, see his Master in the disciple's actions and loves, see his heart's desire. ✝️ 🔥 ❤
Piękny film o prawdziwej odwadze człowieka... wielkiego człowieka, jakim był Maksymilian Kolbe. Film świetnie zrealizowany, naprawdę porusza. Gratulacje Patrick Ney!
Thank you for sharing this video. This man deserves respect on the highest of levels. In our modern day, many people praise fictional heroes, or people pretending to be heroes.. But today, I will praise a true hero.
More than anything, what St Maximilian Mary Kolbe did out if love for neighbor is rooted in his complete love for God and Mary. He already died to himself when he chose to wear the two crowns of Mary. In Auschwitz, he then died for his neighbor. Like Jesus on the cross. Today, St Maximilian Mary Kolbe lives in the glory of Jesus and His Mother Mary.
Incredible story thank you for sharing it, at the beginning of the video you ask what was the last time that I chose to truly help somebody, two days ago me and my Dad found a collapsed runner on a dog walk, I tried my best to save him but he died hours later in hospital due to how he fell into cardiac arrest.
You forgot to tell an important detail: when the soldier came to make the shot of poison in the arm of Maximilian Kolbe, Maximilian, who couldn’t move anymore, naturally looked at him; there was such a look of love, of sainthood, of greatness, at the same time such a look of humility and abandon, in his eyes, that the soldier could not stand it and he could not make the shot. So, he ordered Maximilian Kolbe to look towards the other side, towards the wall, and then he was able to give the lethal shot. The look in the eyes of Maximilian Kolbe was already famous before he was a prisoner, when he was in normal life, and more so at Auschwitz before he was sentenced to death. It may have been, but this is a free supposition, that at the hour of his death, God gave him an even deeper look in his eyes...
How dare you dislike this video. They have given up their life just for you to sit in your homes where your with your family and people you love and dislike the video. They gave up their fate for YOU. They died in a place that could only be described as inhuman, they died not surrounded by love ones, not in a place that they feel safe. They were butchered like animals and your in support of that. Please god, tell me that I was wrong
I had the grace to attend the canonization of St. Maximilian Maria Kolbe on Oct 10th 1982 and also meet the man for whom he gave up his life. St. Maximilian is truly and inspiration!
Touched me... what a heroic way to die... absolutly incredible Person... today i have the feeling that there is so Less humanity left in our World.... most of the ppl are only takin care of themselves... sad thing, but there are ppl like you trying to reviewe humanity or spread some love... really good work , i felt it. Much love from germany. Chris
@@zdrastvutye Janusz Korczak was Jew that took care about children. Also a great authority for me. I saw a film about film in the cinema years ago and at the end it was so moving that it was impossible not to cry. He was the director of the orphanage.
Maximilian Maria Kolbe #16670 was a Catholic Priest, a Hero for all Mankind. He even knew Saint Pope John Paul II (A Saint) also from Poland and it happened in the past 100 Years... God Bless Father Maximilian Kolbe & his Holiness Pope John Paul II also a "Saint" within my Lifetime! I may not be Christian, I'm not even close to being one, But I see a good man when I see one, and this is an example and a good man. Give to others before you give to yourself.
Thank you so much for sharing this amazing man's story. You may not have the faith, but you certainly have the respect. Wonderful job! I shared it with my Facebook friends.
The Portuguese consul of Bordeaux saved 30 thousand Jewish people and others who were persecuted by the Nazis. Back then Portugal was a dictatorship and our country was neutral during World War II but our dictator, Salazar, sympathized with Hitler. Our consul, Aristides de Sousa Mendes, defied Salazar's orders and helped those people by signing visas that garanteed a safe entry to our country. As a result of his actions, he was sacked without the right to a pension and died in utter poverty. He never regretted his actions as he said that between Salazar's orders and his consciousness he had to choose the latter.
I'm thankful because I can watch this without any problem. I feel proud of the priest, his story made me cry but humanity can be a shame. Don't let history repeat itself!
I am not a Catholic and struggled with parts of this. But I do believe in Yeshua (Jesus) as Messiah. However I was really moved by this short film. Having worked with Christian Friends of Israel since 1995 (and been apart of them since 1986) I have listened to 100's of survivors testimonies of how they suffered in Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen etc.. How any survived is a miracle. Well done on producing this remarkable film. עם ישראל חי
God bless this man. We need people like this in the world. He was imprisoned for believing in god and could have been set free if he deny his faith, but he didn’t he knew god was by him the whole time
In my 7th grade Literature class, we read a novel called The Devil’s Arithmetic. It was a story of a girl’s life who went to Auschwitz. In preparation for what we were about to read, we watched a few videos about Auschwitz. One of them was about Saint Maximilian Kolbe. It wasn’t very well produced, not even having voices in it. As I go back to school this fall, I am sure to suggest this video to my Literature teacher (who will now be my Religion teacher). Thank you for this amazing short film on a great Catholic man.
