Great discussion. Really like this set, as the absolute floor of it is a few hours of entertainment actually playing the jumpstart game. You get the pack opening experience, play with some random stuff you may not be able to in other formats and as a side benefit maybe get some value. I grabbed a few during the last Amazon dump and got waaaaay more for my money than I paid, and I still got the game play experience as well.
i would be down to go in on a box of this! you're absolutely right, this is a decent product, especially for the price. There are cards worth digging for and cards that are playable. I'm not a patron, yet, but when i am, i would love to jump in on one of these.
Ive looked at these multiple times and am never sure which one i would want to open, 2022 or 2020. They look super cool but its one of those products most people dislike and im not sure if theres a good reason for it.
I am not the norm...but I really love that they come pre-wrapped inside with clear packaging. We love playing with this format, it should/could be the way for people to play the game in a much more affordable way. At $65 a box...it was a no-brainer...I should have bought some when Amazon had the fire sale.
For sure too many products. Not sure if it was Hasbro or Wizards that flew to close to the sun with Jumpstart. It'll be interesting to see if they try it again. I hope they do, it's a fun, interesting, different product great for new players.
Jumpstart is like theme boosters. But it's likely there is too much product too fast that most people can't or don't want to keep up with such a miscellaneous set that has a buttload of basic lands. If jumpstart had a sanctioned format and prize support it would be pretty badass but WotC is just dumping too much product pressure for simple sets to have any momentum towards worth. Totally not a consumer issue. MtG is "buy the power or ultra chase" or bust.
