@@syahshar2982 twitter and RU-vid the type of place where well articulated sentences still get misinterpreted. You can say "I like pancakes" and somebody will say "So you hate waffles?" No bitch. Dats a whole new sentence. Wtf is you talkin about
Elly’s husband getting emotional speaking about her wishes for her family to see the business 😪🖤. so sweet, hope they get to see how Elly is flourishing irl!
I love the passion people have when cooking. Its one of those things thats just a universal language and everyone gets it. I honestly think food could end all wars
Love this family, and their food looks delicious. I love sateh with satehsauce (peanutsauce) sooooo much. One of my most favorite foods. Here where I live (Netherlands) we have more Indonesian Saté. It's soulfood for sure❤
Watching from Singapore. This is dope ! I intend to make a trip to SFO later this year, and you bet I gonna be having your satays. Too bad ketupat isn’t on the menu.
Respect to Mrs Elly and her Family. You employing manpower. I wanna join in but sadly i'm no where near there. I am near Singapore. The neighbouring country MY.
Grandma’s recipes to the rescue! To this day, my mom’s pa cit is still the best pancit I’ve had. And all my neighbors and friends that are Filipino-Americans and even other ethnicities would agree! She said to me, she will only pass down the recipe to me when I get married. So, that’s going to be a while
Her facial expressions looked so happy and sad at the same time. Her coming from a very conservative culture to one where she is more free to be who she wants!
Unfortunately, it's not the country that held her back, it was her family. I'm glad that she's having the best time of her life, however it's quite unfair to make those statements when Singapore is very similar to any other metropolis in the world. Her frustrations stemmed from her family's (and perhaps cultural) expectations of the role she supposed to assume within the family.
what she says is true. To some, the american dream is to not make riches or affluent, but having a comfortable life living away from the bustling and hustling of the the rat race. That is the american dream that i want. look at her she is like the not super rich bad is able to live her american dream! Also, look at that satay that is so chunky and filled with meat! i wish i am able to go abroad and live my dreams, owning a farm, having a laid back life and just be who you are. Thank you Elly, you make me realise that the american dream is really not that far-fetch and typical.
Those are some big satays 😭😭 wish my local satays are also that plentiful. I could really tell it was made with love and passion or it would have been burnt and skinny
@@kaiserlow652 how can people said it's from Indonesia? Singapore and Malaysia also do have this in our country and btw she's Singaporean Malay so she popularized the satay in San Francisco
As a javanese i was surprised when saw her peanut sauce. Just like kind of peanut sauce that we had. But when she said her father was javanese descent and she showed her grandmother photo, Now it all make sense. I hope to visit her shop
@@norf2690 yeah easy to found as well. The thing that blown me away is the melayu version of peanut sauce looks the same with ours and taste the same as well i bet. Hi are you Malaysian btw?
@@norf2690 Yes it is, but there are many variety of it. The meat, the spices, and the sauce. Even in the Javanese region has distinct variety of it. Some can be just with simple soy sauce, some even has fresh tomato slices sambals to accompany it. And that's just talks about the satay in Javanese region. Not including other famous satay producer region like from Padang, Bali, and many other.
I'm a true blue Singaporean. I smiled all the way from the start of the video until it got to David. The feels. That's love right there. Nothing but love for them and may their business prosper to greater heights. Thank you Vice for showcasing this.
When I worked in KL, I'd end up wondering the streets of the Golden Triangle at night and seeing the different 24 hour Mamak, Chinese and Satay places; all the little food trucks too and the lanterns and lights. It was like a cultural fusion of Tamil, Malay, Chinese cuisines and everyone doing their thing. I can still remember the sweet, charred taste of satay grilled to order that just melted in your mouth when you broke past that delicate crust of caramelised meat and marinade. The kacang (peanut) sauce just took it over the top. I could eat 20 skewers no problem. Oh and I just remembered the cubes of sticky rice too. Man... those were good days, just seeing some old auntie or uncle fanning the flames and the hot humid nights, people watching.
As a Singaporean, even though we have our own good food, I still miss KL. The taste of the food there is something else, and the atmosphere cannot compare
Indonesian food!🇮🇩
people who dislike this are either peanut allergic or just generally miserable with seeing a good, happy and satisfied family. Fok those peeps, I'm dying for some satay now =)
Alot of chinese in singapore that shout and when i was there, a singaporean lady told me “ why you look like this woman” i was so confused than I realized thats how some Singaporean people talk, very very direct and “in your face” type of talking
How could we not. So much shared culture and food (with some variant depending on areas). It will be silly if we keep bickering about who's better or who owns what culture/food. 🥰
i can feel his feels and thoughts when he's talking about her parents. maybe he just don't want talk about it with her because it might trigger a guilt trip or bad memories. all he wanted is her parents are proud of her.
there is some advantage to being married to a lighter skin guy. im not being racist but there certain advantages in society people don't like to recognise.
@@asadb1990 only people who think like that have inferiority complex. it's mainly asian women who worship and love white men. when your dating you can't base someone's skin color on their success or values. you're prejudice.
Assalamualaikum Elly. I'm so proud off you. I was married and lived on the bay area for over 10 years. And it was so hard to find anything halal then. I used to have to make everything I wanted to eat when I was there. Kudos to you. #Be safe!! 🌹🌹
