This video has made me realize my tongue is frequently touching the top off my mouth, I've been mewing for years without realizing and now I'm starting to feel self-conscious about it
me too lol, its normal. Mew, the orthodontist, basically found out some kids werent doing that naturally. And if you don't, it causes fucked up teeth/jaw placement after a while.
Its the default, but if you don't normally do that, you should start doing it. Even if you are fully grown, the facial structure won't change much, but your teeth can still get more crooked from your tongue pushing against them.
@@abduldes7978I think it depends on what language you speak. Apparently people with certain main languages rest their tongue at the bottom of the mouth. Source: I read this somewhere a few years ago so I might be wrong lol
TikTok kids accidentally recreate eugenics every few months. Earlier this year there was “your personality is based on your skull shape” and my soul almost left my body. Edit: I say “kids,” but really it’s teens getting warped by bad faith arguments from other corners of the internet and then spreading it to TikTok.
They clearly watched Django: Unchained and thought that Leonardo DiCaprio looked so good they needed to emulate phrenology. Conveniently they ignored the slave owner part.
Atrioc clearly mews, but does he edgemaxx? Like Baby Gronk in Ohio. He needs positiv canthal tilt before he can call himself the sigma rizzler. Gyatt -pilled! Ohi.o!
Good book about the effects of jaw posture on health and appearance, "Jaws: The Story of a Hidden Epidemic", sandra kahn and paul r. ehrlich. Book has a forward by Robert Sapolsky and was recommended by Andrew Huberman, the science in it is pretty well cited and academic. idk what mewing is but my guess is there's a kernel of science it's based off of. Also "Breath" by James Nestor talks about jaw posture which sounds like mewing. That book is a lot more pop science and had some stuff that seemed silly but the stuff about jaw posture and its affects on breathing during sleep is really interesting.
I think "soft-maxxing" is pretty healthy tbh, teaching people how to live a healthier life My worry is that "Looks-maxxing" stems from young men feeling undesired or feeling like they're not good enough which is pretty sad
This comment will probably be buried, but your tongue is supposed to “rest” at the top of your mouth. Generally speaking, a person with a recessed jaw is caused by the tongue staying at the bottom of your mouth. A tongue suctioned up to the top of a mouth causes the top teeth to arch out wider, which encourages the lower jaw to move out and meet it. I worked at a dentist assisting a myofunctional therapist who trains this in kids all the time. It just doesn’t work in adults (unless you use hardware) because our facial structures are less malleable.
Thank you for adding this! Because a lot of the people following this are teens without fully developed bone structure etc, I wonder if there is some reality to mewing in this cohort.
Regarding Big A's Stalin comparison, something similar actually happened in Mexico, where a TikToK female beauty influencer was also the head of some kind of cartel and was actually murdered by a rival gang whilst in a hair salon.
I had a friend in highschool back around 2014 who broke his own nose by slamming his face purposely into a wall. Just so that he could adjust his slightly crooked nose.
I always like to point out that Stalin didn’t look like that at all. He was on the run, sleeping rough, dirty and covered in smallpox scars. Like most dictators Stalin was incredibly insecure and so had his old mugshot doctored and spread about.
It actually is true, not to an extent shown here BUT tongue is strong enough to take out filling if unconsciously it's touching teeth(over time). Also if you have a narrow jaw if keeping tongue on palate it can (by tiny bit) expand it and keep teeth in their place.
“Looks maxing” just reminds me of an anime that came out a few years ago. It’s about this disgusting, anti-social Gamer™ who gets taught about personal hygiene and how to socialize by a girl, who explains it all in gamer lingo.
When i was a kid, the doctor said that i should always keep my tongue against the roof, because it should set my fucked up teeth straight. Since then, that's just where my tongue rests etc. Idk if it has any permanent effect, but id does momentarily make the jaw line a bit sharper and it's not like there's any bad effects from it. Ps. I'm Not British
Putting your tongue at the roof of your mouth helps against "mouth breathing" and snoring. Mouth breathing, especially when you are still growing, causes a significant change in the facial structure, and is seen as one of the most unattractive traits possible, and snoring also being very unattractive. Also if your tongue is not at the roof of your mouth, it might push against your front teeth, which causes them to get crooked after a while. For most people, its the default tongue position, but if yours is not at the roof of your mouth, you should start getting used to doing it.
Oh snap. I accidentally have been mewing. I started keeping my tongue high and i genuinely dont remember why but its terrible because its harder to stop doing it...
Kinda wish the article or Big A went more over how this originated in incel culture and now is kinda mainstream with a certain percentage of young men.
The fact that atriocs thinks happiness is all directly tied to money makes me think... That he must think that the majority of people are unhappy... Because most people are poor. Unless he is just exaggerating lol. Nobody can be happy unless they are rich like him. He and the 1% control all the wealth and all the happiness.
