I understand not liking reaction content, but not liking people who react to things at all? Most streamers in general have reacted to something at some point. If I'd call people reactors, it'd have to be people like XQC who do it so lazily with nothing to add. And atrioc definitely doesn't fit that definition.

@@godlyvex5543 this video specifically would, under my standards, be pretty transformative. What upsets me is that he watched the whole thing live. And Atrioc isn't someone who "reacted to something at some point", he has a whole section (get smarter Saturdays) dedicated to reacting to stuff lol, he is 100% a reactor, which sucks for me.

@@godlyvex5543 "having something to add" doesn't mean you get ownership over the video. In this example it's fine because a small portion of the video plays, he talks about it, and then it jumps to another small part he has something to say about, if I were to watch the original after this video I'd still have a lot I haven't watched yet. But when he watched the video live he played the entire thing, and that's by no means something I consider ethical.

@@nottaibo I disagree. And actually, I think I'm going to amend what I said before about needing to add to it. I also think people should be allowed to react to more things, not just videos. I do wish there was a system to somehow reward the original creator, though (maybe by implementing some system where it embeds the video on the page while he watches it somehow?) and I also believe reacting should only be allowed on streams, and shouldn't be allowed to be reuploaded on youtube. Streams don't fulfill the same purpose as videos, so I think it's different. My reasoning is that reaction content is pretty similar to a playthrough of a game. If someone can show off an entire game, without anyone watching compensating the original creator, why is it THAT much worse for someone to basically do the same thing with anything else? The overall premise and appeal is the same. You want to watch someone else experience something. And it doesn't necessarily fill the same role as the video (just as watching someone play a game doesn't necessarily fill the same role as playing the game yourself). I added the distinction that it should be stream-only, because uploading a video reacting to someone else's video gets very close to it filling the exact same role as the original video. But in general, the entire reason it's ethically dubious is because youtubers make a living off of making videos, and not rewarding them isn't great. I personally think art shouldn't be financially motivated in the first place, and that we should have UBI or something so that artists can actually focus on making things good without having to worry about broad appeal or advertising or monetization.

I'm not sure if "some crimes are actually good" is necessarily a good justification for having something that helps people get away with crime

I dont have a problem with this video - since it doesnt replace the audience of the original one (theres only like a few minutes of coffee's video in this one, instead of say like an asmongold/hasanabi/xqc react where they dont cut it and just upload the entire live reaction). I think if he makes these videos YT exclusive instead of reacting to it live and cutting, i wouldnt care at.
