Having just found him it's funny to see him try and be professional and not drop a lot of weird and inappropriate humor. Speaking of dropping stuff watching him talk makes my shorts drop....oh wait 😅😂
Unhinged is really subjective, I think Mike is pretty reasonable. But then again I’m also a fan of Austrian art so take whatever I say with a grain of salt
This is a great point to just simplify things I also recommend listening to your body and how you feel. You often might want something that will make you feel sluggish an hour after. Some days you might feel like you need more water than normal or some veggies for dinner instead of spaghetti. Just listen to how you feel and go with the flow. Obviously twinkies and Diet Coke for dinner isn’t the answer but if you want a snickers bar when you go to the movies , who cares🤷♂️
wonder what would happen if he made a channel sarcastically but knowledgeably talking about celeberties excercise routines ... i think that might actually be quite successful ...
Yeah, that's why I am here. I expected something extraordinary, revolutionardy... But this is all just common sense. It's not the best advice, but you wouldn't need to read any studies to figure this out. :D
@@michalvalta5231 It is the best advice though.....not trying to sell anything or push any kind of agenda Extraordinary and revolutionary as you say is what zealots use to promote agendas and their products
Keep it going dude! I'm down 95lbs in 14 months. This morning in a 42deg, 10mph windy day, I did a 37min road bike ride. Got addicted to eating well and in a deficit as well as cycling.
All the bro, all the science, but none of the bro science. Sadly, it will most likely fall on deaf ears, due to people wanting a quick fix for health and physical fitness.
There is no neck in the whole video and therefore no rotation of the head that gave the talk. Therefore you can't break his neck, neither disprove him. But actually, I've to rewind and listen again now.
@@adminalltribes1815 theres doubting science because you have a different hypothesis and theres doubting science because you read something on infowars
I had to log in to leave a thumbs up and comment. I could listen to Dr. Israetel talking about nutrition and training all day. He's so passionate and I love the way he talks: no rambling, he's funny and knows his stuff.
Uhhhh I dunno. Sounds too logical for me. I prefer to think that *insert newest fad diet here* is the best way to go for health and longevity until something else comes along in a month to change my mind.
236 pounds lost, i can say that i didnt really look at food scientifically like this for the longest time. Genuinely opened me up to a lot of ideas. I tried to get on the fad diets when i was at my heaviest(478) and just couldnt stick with them. knowing what i know now about food has made it easier to make a HEALTHY relationship where i use food for a source of energy and that is it. Well done, and much appreciated!
Lots of guys with long term bjj training can’t fully extend the elbows due to having been armbarred and having the elbow popped. My left arm doesn’t fully extend, but after over a decade of bjj it’s to be expected.
“No one doubts science anymore” - this aged well. With that said, this guy is awesome! Love the way he clearly and simply uses logic to present information!
nobody doubts the scientific method, they doubt the motivations of politicians that use the rhetoric of science to say things definitively. as a scientist and a lawyer myself, science to me is a continued conversation with reasonable pushback and investigation of observations & testing. it is not something that you “believe or disbelieve” in such a binary way. look, the cdc is still coming out with new information every day, learning new things that sometimes overturn our previously held beliefs. i’m just saying it’s silly to suggest anybody doubts “science,” they doubt improperly wielded tools that help us investigate the world.
@@supitschillbro Not sure why you are sharing this with me here... I agree with your view on science. I am not sure I understand how this correlates with the motivations of politicians though...
No one doubts science in the sense that when there's a scientific vs. religious explanation, people prefer the scientific one. But there could be doubt within the science as mentioned in the video, like this study says A but that study says B, which one should I trust? Even someone who is hardline anti-mainstream science always refers to a quack scientist to make their point instead of going "this is what my religion says and you're wrong for thinking otherwise!"
He just emphasized on the popular concept/method of weight loss. Its merely motivational for you. This guy couldn't help your typical T2 diabetic American and doesn't address the real problem in our industrialized food supply, and the greater health problems, of which obesity is a merely just another symptom.
@@jarto10 it's sarcasm. he said funny cuz of the dry witty humor most casual people don't enjoy and tall because he says he's 5'4 in the video for what weight he should ideally be
Lol. He was a professor at university of central Missouri while I was there. Super nice dude. Mike was always in the gym training these jacked up bro’s and I didn’t find out until months into my first year there that He was actually a professor. He’s quite short though
Err... he made a huge mistake in the video. It's not elves that come at night, it's fairies. Those are the same ones that tangle all your cables and wires.
Science unfortunately is mostly perspective and is only the study of... very little is fact most is still experiment eval and educated guess. If you know what you believe to be true then narrow down the science that supports that so it's practiced safely then come to your own conclusions it's prob best.
@@ThePiscesgirl318 Yep alot of people have been brainwashed into believing science is just facts. Not at all. Scientist are pressured to come up with results that powers that be want. Money talks. And many are controlled so it's a religion pretty much. 🤷🏾♂️
But seriously, there are studies indicating that 60% carbs correlates with higher all-cause mortality compared to 45-60%. At least if you eat animal fats and animal proteins. So, maybe don't go for just any macronutrient combo...
@@angelolife The reason is due to high blood sugar in the blood all the time over time, and potentially insulin resistance due to crazy amounts of carbs. But if you're a very active person or a marathon runner, you wouldn't have to worry about that!
@@Hoop639 Brilliant is a strong word to describe him. The reason I doubt him is because he recommends lean meats, leafy greens, seeds and legumes. All of which are either useless or harmful for humans to eat.
@@patrickdisalvo6532 ok let’s not being in the hippie bro science stuff here🤣 all the food you stated are very healthy and should be recommended. The sum of research shows a “plant based” diet is best. plant based is “plant heavy” whole grains, fruits and veggies, and includes lean meats dairy.
this guy is hilarious and really brutally honest actually, he does a bunch of stuff online, he swears like a sailor but ted talk is not the place for that
I'm trying to loose weight and have gone to nutritionists, watched videos and read tons of info and I still felt lost. After watching this video I can see clearly now...Thank you!
You've read and watched countless things and you still haven't come across calories in vs calories out. That's all it is! Eat less, move more and 100% of people (yes 100%, just at different rates) will lose weight.
Thanks Dr. Mike for highlighting the importance of scientific consensus. People put so much stock in fad diets and supplements and making binary moral judgements about foods that they miss the broad strokes that actually matter. Just eat the right amount of calories most of the time, eat a varied range of healthy food most of the time, and exercise some of the time, and you can do and eat whatever you like for the rest of the time and still be healthy.
Finally! A straight-forward (and very enjoyable) talk on nutrition and health based on the best accumulated scientific evidence we currently have. Thanks Doc.
@@ClassicJukeboxBand you can eat chicken, avocados, and salads all day but if you're in surplus all the time and not moving you will be over weight. Thus not being healthy.
@@Nathantooit Yes, you could be right, but if you eat natural foods, you body will automatically keep you from eating a surplus of foods. Your hunger will reduce. Thats what happened to me.
Defect because meat is not healthy, long or short term. There is factual evidence continuous consumption of animals increases risk of disease or cancer.
@@Dee-ye2dk I'd like to see your evidence. Although we can all agree that a high consumption of meat correlates with increase risk of some diseases, the studies that say so were done on subjects on the average american diet (highly processed meats), you can argue that a moderate consumption of meat is perfectly healthy, it is also more sustainable for the average human who has no access to supplements that are often overpriced.
@@Dee-ye2dk False. I recommend you find some peer reviewed studies on the benefits of eating organ meats for example. "Government meat" is not healthy. Factory farmed meat is not healthy. McDonald's "meat" is not healthy. Free range grass fed beef from a trustworthy source is the only way. The studies you are reading are likely suggesting that tofu and soy (which lead to many health issues) are healthy.
Western societies are increasingly under strain (literally) from obesity. Governments should be investing the same amount of time, energy, and funding to halt and reverse this process. It would pay for itself easily in cost savings in health car, and increases in wellbeing and productivity. But it doesn't seem to be much of a priority for some reason.
