I love how you’ve included heroic variations of “Merry’s Simple Courage” and “The Edge of Night”, in order to show the journey of growth these two remarkable hobbits have undertaken. Pippin doesn’t get to solo-sing “The Edge of Night” to Denethor in the books, but somehow it still manages to work for him thematically: when Frodo, Sam and Pippin sing this song at the very start of their journey, Pippin jokingly modifies the final line of the song to “And NOW to bed! And NOW to bed!”, since he’s tired after walking all night. Now at the Scouring, after thousands of miles and a newfound boldness in him, he isn’t thinking of going to bed anymore: he’s thinking of waking up his countrymen. So yes, I find this brief musical moment very moving and poetic! Cheers to you, you’re crafting incredible stuff. I hope we can look forward to more of this!
