A minor correction if I may? The Director's Cut of the film DID show that Captain Dallas had survived the attack, but was "cocooned" by the Xenomorph. Ripley found him and he begged her to kill him. Also, when Kane went near the egg creche, he inadvertently broke what sounded like some kind of "field" over the egg he was looking upon. When the field was broken, the egg hatched and attached itself. Finally it should be noted that the "distress call" was noted by Ripley as not a distress call but a "warning" as she replied to Ash. Other than that good video!! Especially with the description of the Nostromo.

@@robirvine6970 - The Captain is only in charge of the ship and crew when he has entered the ship. As he has not gone through quarantine, she outranks him, which means that the captain only made a "suggestion", not an order.

Ash also wasn't actually part of her crew, he was a Weyland-Yutani Android planted as basically a saboteur. He ignored her orders because they contradicted his orders which came from higher up than her.

Would be really cool - if they then made some prequels that explain what the aliens are, and where they come from. Thoroughly.

It would be a independent film the way Hollywood is now I wouldn't make anything I'm surprised that anything is made without some leftist message in it

@@forresthenry9535, between Nostromo's disappearance (2122) and when Ripley finally gets picked up by some junkers (2179), I imagine there would've been a whole slew of movies, books, TV shows, etc., all on what could've happened to it. Most conspiratorial stuff, but still.

Especially when that fictional event comes with all the details of a real one.

Cartwright does slip on the scene and takes a fall due to the fake blood on the floor. She was a pro, though, and pops up to keep the scene going. Im not sure, though, if her, "Ahhhh, God!" Was scripted or not.

In case you're wondering, I didn't choose 2031 like most do, because I wanted to see the supernova in 2024, and 2020 was the nearest algorithm coinciding with the gravitational frequency that I was scheduled to leave. I didn't wanna wait till 2166, so I opted for two years earlier, and I'm glad I did. Or else I woulda waited three more years to gain two.. on the 2022 ship. But that just didn't add up in my head.

I didn't even read the book it came out before the movie and I watched the making of the movie and no thanks.

Except where he makes strong assertions that "they received orders from The Company" when the evidence simply cannot make such an assertion safely. The reality is, we know only that Mother told Dallas to capture it, crew expendible. We don't know if they have FTL comms in Alien, as it's never explicitly shown; and the fact that Lambert can't raise anybody is telling in that regard, as if they had FTL comms, they should have been able to reach somebody. Obviously by the time of Aliens, they do have FTL comms, as the plot requires; but we can't take that fact and make the same assumption about Alien. We cannot safely assert that "The Company" even knew about the alien based upon this film alone - prequels and sequels try to tell us a variety of things, but since they're all over the place, none of them is truly of the same level of canonicity as the first film. All we can safely assert is that Mother had a general "collect interesting samples, and damn the crew" rule in place, to be invoked if anything odd was found, etc. All of that other stuff assuming "Evil Company" comes from other people, and just wasn't shown at all in this film. Even Aliens doesn't show an evil company, just one so large and bureaucratic as to be horribly run... but not evil. It's when you get to the dumpter fire that is Alien 3 (and the magic egg) and afterwards where that becomes a theme... but Alien doesn't go there, so it's unwise to bring along other peoples' baggage of doubtful provenance and act like it's top shelf authoritative. It simply is not. People will use the crew transfer of Ash as a solid assertion of The Evil Company knowing, but once again... possible but not in any way actually demonstrable.

Good point. Screwing with your head, absolutely. The Alien lifecycle itself is built on nightmare logic, and considering Prometheus and Covenant, built on the nightmare logic of a twisted A.I. (David). I use to think this was lame, like many others, but I think it's kinda interesting, especially with how David's character is portrayed. Alien is a masterpiece of unknown horror, where not knowing a damn thing about where it all came from is advantageous for that particular story. But if one's seriously going to explain where it came from.... there's some big hurdles like how the Facehugger seems just about perfectly designed to smother a human being's face. So how could one say "oh man it's truly alien" ? How can something that is truly alien, be able to attach itself as a parasite to human biology? Another interesting thing is that during the production of Prometheus, Ridley reasoned the difference in interior and outer appearance of the Engineer ships/structures between Alien and Prometheus was due to decay and degradation. In other words, the Derelict interiors had been worn down to the underlying bonelike organic structure, due to the environmental exposure, the deep freezing cold of the surface. Nostromo crew didn't pass through any sealed chambers. In Prometheus the interiors are strongly reminiscent of what you see in the Derelict but it's different, like stylized hard plating is covering everything, covering the bones. It's all intact due to the ship being stored in perfect condition underground. And the ship in Prometheus has some spines or antennas along the outside, whereas the Derelict no longer has them from wear and tear.

I wondered the same thing and I concluded that specific type of ship has some kind of space-warping tech, making it bigger on the inside. The juggernaut in Prometheus indeed looks smaller than the one in LV-426.

@@abelaidloera5930 Even if that was true (which it isn't), such tech would've failed long ago since the derelict had been "dead" for probably hundreds, if not thousands, of years with the warning beacon the last remnant of something operational. It also doesn't mesh with the "radically different, but viable" concept of biomechanics that Scott expressed through Giger's artwork and sculptures. To put it another way, if you asked either Giger or Scott if the egg chamber was a physical part of the derelict, made during its construction, and carried with it during flight, I'd lay serious odds they'd look at you like YOU were alien. That sort of "fantasy sci-fi" is best left to shows like Doctor Who where's it's a cute plot contrivance rather than something that could actually be created. The "engineers" are obviously advanced, but not THAT advanced, FTL capability notwithstanding.

@@GiantBoarMonster Remember that the chestburster has borrowed DNA attributes from the host. Come to think of this, this probably happens during the facehugger phase, as the parasite samples the host and adapts the embryo to be viable both inside and outside the victim. Hence why the xeno in Alien and Aliens are roughly humanoid and the one in Alien 3 is dog-like. I always thought this was a brilliant way to explain how the alien lifecycle can work with virtually any organism that can be facehugged. If DNA or something like it is there, the alien can use it and make it its own while crossing it with its own superior biology. It's absolutely terrifying, almost beyond comprehension, like the body-snatching entity in The Thing. No wonder W-Y are after it for their bioweapons division.
