Osama Bin Laden’s letter to America goes viral on TikTok. Free speech loses even more friends. Harvard rallies around the race card.
We’ve watched a series of truly outrageous events unfold. All of them are deeply connected and a warning for the trajectory of our society. Too many of our kids have embraced the enemies of civilization, too many of our educational and cultural institutions are to blame, and at the heart of all of it is an assault on our nation’s founding principles: freedom of expression and equality under the law. These enlightenment values are being replaced by a resurgence of pre-industrial tribal barbarism masquerading as postmodern social justice.
As parents, we need to get engaged in this battle of ideas with our kids and help them navigate this crazy world so they don’t end up as useful idiots taking to the streets in defense of evil. We must accept our responsibility to help them understand right from wrong, and be a lighthouse they can turn to in dark times. They’re not going to find that light anywhere else.

I have just discovered this channel today, honestly if there is one thing I am appreciating compared to the so polarized media is that you point towards moral clarity. This has nothing to do with siding. If we had to start over, we should start here and you nailed it. The current media wave is so toxic, I almost started to find myself siding. I had to pull out and reflect and find my ground back. MORAL CLARITY, this is genius. I appreciate. Thank you so much.

I am baffled by the reaction of most young people to the situation in the Middle East. I appreciate your take on the purpose of a college education to teach all sides of an issue, though I wonder if there are some issues that, in a debate, are a waste of time. An example would be a debate on whether or not the Earth is flat.

The challenge: who decides what science is “settled”? And how does that decider get chosen? The fact is, there’s no such thing as “settled science” let alone arguments about human nature or politics. Beware those asserting settled science. They’re selling snake oil. Our only choice is to make our arguments and present our evidence for everything, all the time, for every generation, forever. Our schools have given up on this, and have shifted to selling settle science snake oil. They’ve “settled” on the worst ideas in all of human history: communism and racial essentialism.

Often evolution ends up being a discovery of a plant or creature that defies its environment by its mere existence which could very well just point to our own lack of understanding and knowledge or discovery of a new plant or/ creature.

Hi, I have no idea what we can do to restore the morality and compassion for other from this point on in our world, I am so weary and still in shock that any human being could justify and defend the 10/07 actions as anything except an attack of pure evil, my kids are grown and I thank God that they were just as shocked and outraged at the attitudes of a lot of their friends, I think we taught our kids right, thank you Lord. I admire your truths and I have to tell you. It might just be too late to change anything. 😢

Do these Ivy presidents know that the law in Gaza, as of 2022, says that an unmarried woman in the strip is not allowed to leave her home without explicit permission from a male relative, even a younger brother. Do they understand women there are pressured into arranged marriages at a young age? How can they ignore/condone this?

I was watching the fall of the Twin Towers in New York while my son was being born. I was in France at the time. Most were livid, as was I, but a few, I could see, had gleeful smiles on their faces whilst watching the footage on state television. I was a senior diplomat back then. I was posted in Berlin during the fall of the Wall, I was in Zagreb during the Yougoslavian war, and again during the civil unrest in Algeria. But never have I seen such joy in the faces of any people than I did after the mass murder of civilians then. Just to say that this December atrocity is not only condoned, but supported by those same people, or their descendants. And why? Because these people think that their oppression, justified or not, gives them the right to inflict on others anything their minds can come up with, horrible as they may be. It's a free pass to martyrdom. There is therefore nothing you can give them that will stop them, other than death.

“Moral clarity” is secondary to religious conviction. Christian inertia is draining from our culture. Hammering “morality” without identifying the standard / source of morality is a hollow call.

If we can't gain moral clarity without trotting out pre-technological fairy stories about "sources" of same, then I guess we're going to have to enforce moral clarity with muscle, and I don't think you're up to that task. I won't have it; if you insist on "objective morality", I'll tell you to take a hike. If social cohesion is the only thing in focus, and we can't achieve it by citing its benefits to everyone, then we have to admit that the strong will go on stealing from the weak, and we won't be scared by fairy stories any more.

You're not wrong. I'm not spiritual in any way but at least Christianity as a cultural institution provides a set of time-tested moral conventions. On the other hand, the critical theories which are now venerated as sources of secular ethics are inherently deconstructionist. They don't promote peace and unity, only a dismantling of the culture and praxis; a method by which activists can realize their self interest and undermine the democratic process by harnessing biopower (threatening decision makers by amassing in large groups).

I agree but it runs deeper than this because certain organized religious upbringing get imulated in forming all these agencies and institutions. Its what many great & grandparents knew to work and live in or under. So many wars kept large amounts of Americans in milatary life in late 1800s & early half of 1900s . This conditioned many of them to build welfare on the state in grants and what not.

It's not that I disagree with you, but I will say this. One thing you're referring to is the concept of "truth". Sure, bin Laden was beyond despicable and of course, calling for genocide should violate a univesity's principles. I get that. But outside of those things, many of the people you're talking about have come to different conclusions than you - and more often than not, me. Moral clarity? Is it moral that we're supporting a war right now where 20,000 people have died within two months with a sizable amount of them being children? Is it moral that infectious diseases and famine are now actually happening in Gaza? The issue here is that each of us can examine this or many other situations as a whole where we place our own moral values above that of others and declare them as being the "highest" of values that reflect what "we" are for. This means that "we" need to have a greater discussion as to what moral clarity is and what are highest values are. Otherwise, we'll end up just talking past one another. I also share your disdain for much of higher education when it comes to how they shape society. But I'd say it goes well beyond that. It's also on the media (especially cultural media), the entertainment industry, the advertising industry, etc. But most of all, it's on "us". The vast majority of us that put the "morality" of which you speak on the back burner when it's an inconvenience.

Moral clarity lies in addressing ambiguous questions. Consider a scenario where a victim kills their perpetrator. Are we, the so-called good people, in support of the victim? Yes. Now, let's draw an analogy with the current situation in the Middle East, where morality has been eroding. In this analogy, the victim was brutally attacked, forcibly taken to the perpetrator's home, and while defending themselves, killed not only the perpetrator but also anyone aiding the criminal. However, instead of condemning the criminal, we, the so-called good people, begin discussing the cause of the attack. We conclude that the victim might have provoked the attacker. Then, our focus shifts. We, the so-called good people, start talking about the perpetrator's personal life-mentioning their family, financial struggles, and obligations. Suddenly, the criminal act loses its focus. It becomes vague, and we begin feeling sorry for the criminal. We argue that they didn't deserve to be killed. It's unfair because the victim comes from a better-off family, has no debt, and has lived a comparatively good life. So, maybe, the victim even deserved to be attacked because he or she might not have been such a good person (we don't know for sure, but there is no smoke without fire). This is where morality vanishes, replaced by ideology. The ideology that has been slowly occupying western minds for many years. This ideology has given rise to a generation of neo-communists or neo-marxists who eschew debates or free speech. They don't value human rights and they don't use language to communicate, but to indoctrinate, confuse, or shut down their opponents. Interestingly enough, this ideology has always aligned with radical Islam.

For too many of our kids, it’s even more barbaric than this. They simply look at the situation and ask “who is more black/brown/indigenous because they are the real victim”. Too many of the kids are taking to the street out of woke racism philosophy. A majority of 18-29 year olds now say that “Jews as a class are oppressors”. How sick does our education system have to be to produce THAT opinion??

@@paulinadoki1043 Again, that's not addressing my point. I AGREE with the way you described the historical flow of how things happened. You, however, didn't address the relationship between the "victim" and the "criminal". In the current situation, there's a definite relationship between Israel and the Palestinians. Importantly, in any situation, the responsible thing to do is to examine causational factors. Not to draw equivalence or to spread or switch blame, but to actually grasp the situation as a whole. For the record, in my opinion, today's woke crowd looks at these causational factors through their warped lens and selectively applies them to come up with their conclusions. But they're following their "truth" though, just as we all do. I also don't see the ideology of which you speak always aligning with radical Islam. Perhaps for the past few years but before then...not so much. Traditionally it was aligned with communism.

@@zeenuf00 Nope. In fact, your response accusing me of being on the "Palestinian" side shows me that it's practically impossible to have actual conversations. My point is that this isn't really about Palestine or Israel. It's larger. Those who blame Israel here and think oppression is usually based on race or demographics fully believe their views are the "truth" and are based upon "morality". That means that what we're dealing with is entire belief systems and not opinions about this conflict. Yes, as parents, we need to instill certain values into our children. But that doesn't mean they'll accept all what we say. Furthermore, we also need to realize that these belief systems that we oppose aren't just rooted on the campus of a few elite colleges. It's become an increasing part of our culture from different angles. Those idiots pointing on TikTok praising bin Laden's words didn't get that from a college lecture at Harvard.

Dad is showing his BIAS. Hamas’s attack on Israel was barbaric. Israel’s treatment of Palestinians has been barbaric. I have listened to arguments from both sides.
