My salt is that not everyone got the same level of "anti-X" buff treatment AKI got. Gief still just sucks at anti airing. Marisa 2HP anti air is less negative on block because we all know that anti airs are for blockstrings /s Manon anti projectile is still dubious at best. At least Cammy knuckle got ruined, but even then I wish they just made it negative instead of less anti projectile.

I'm living for Broski and these AKI changes. His AKI was already super fun to watch and obviously super strong and impressive, but I'm really excited to see more now that AKI has all these new routes and just generally much stronger.
the universal change to back throw into the corner feels like a buff for Jamie, as back throw in neutral already guaranteed a drink but into the corner could leave you too close. now that it forces the distance, Jamie can be disrespectful in more places. love to see it.
I play AKI and I’m pretty good with her, Thanks to you and Hikaru. But I gotta say dude wtf?! Diving through fireballs fullscreen is going to be insane. I’m gonna go ahead and guess she’s A tier now. Is it a bit too much…probably, but we struggled. We deserve it, at least for a couple months.
I think part of this is a compensatory buff. Thanks to the way that they changed parry and perfect parry it's going to be slightly harder to force a burnout situation on your opponent, which is a nerf to Aki more than most other characters.
Such tiny details being changed having cascading effects such as the light kick to medium whip convinces me that there's no chance in hell i'd be able to balance a fighting game
I can’t remember if it was Broski or someone else who said it seemed like AKI was really strong in internal testing so they toned her down a lot before releasing her… looks like pre-nerf AKI came to season 2 lol
This is such a great video, as your extensive knowledge o A.K.I allows you to quickly put every change into context. Reading a change on the paper is quite different from understanding its practical implications, so such a video is extremely useful to people who aren't as familiar with the character.
You can stand point blank to Dj, Blanka, and Chun and bait their reversal with st hk xx lk slide. The coward crouch kick buff makes it so you can go for it even after 3 jabs (ex whip, cr lp x3 xx hp whip, dr st mp xx coward crouch kick would miss before)
It’s amazing what they did with AKI, it’s just a bit sad that some other characters that needed buffs a lot more than her didn’t get half as much if anything meaningful at all. Thinking of Lily for example. I don’t play her but at this point I’m literally wondering why she’s even in the game lol
My suspicion is that AKI merely got reverted to their alpha build for her character hence such a long list of buffs while others were already done and Capcom struggled to come up with anything.
I feel like this patch is a good example of capcom listening to Japan as I feel like that’s where the most Aki down players were so they gave her THE JUICE
@@ΚρανίΩTo do? Sure. To use? No, it sucks, it loses to many air attacks. Has almost no vertical hitbox to hit high up or stop cross-ups, less horizontal range than many DPs, isn't invincible on EX so doesn't double as a wake-up reversal, and doesn't even have full body air invincibility. TL;DR: No.
If these changes stand Broski is just gonna slide in to Capcom Cup and win the milly and I'll pop the fuck off. It was awesome to see a pretty unknown Juri win it and just say he knew he'd win the first time, but dude lingering in the shadows with AKI and getting the bag would be perfect
I watched the stream, and a couple things regarding kimberly is that she can still get j-MP after 6HK even with the juggle changes, you just need to do Drive Rush 6HK after you HP combo into her Izuna Drop. With that, you can get full-screen corner carry. Also, L. Vagabond is -3 on block if spaced now, so it actually can be +1 in Burnout.

You know, I only ever pick characters I like playing in fighting games. But I also had a gift of picking the most obnoxious high tier ones unintentionally. M Bison, Hakumen, Miyako Arima, Tianhuo, Nagoriyuki and so on... Aki was prob the first real lower tier character I picked and decided to truly stick with. And now there's a good chance she'll be an obnoxious high tier, lmao.
These are great buffs! I mainly didnt pick her up in s1 because of her anti airs being sub par but im looking forward to trying her out this season! Gonna be stealing all the aki tech😈
Same, I ended up going to Dhalsim because I like oddball characters. But my boy hardly got anything this patch beyond the universal recovery drive reversal and some minor quality of life stuff. The former is pretty big for him of course, but the patch still feels underwhelming for Sim.
19:35 I know this is like a month old, but just in case you weren't aware, AKI 236HP isn't actually air invuln on frame 4. They just shrunk the head hurtbox 2 frames earlier
The Venomous Fang change is kind of overkill I think. It seems like she kind of just has Spin Knuckle now, and I don't think Spin Knuckle is a good idea for anyone to have.
I gotta wonder if the excessoveness of these buffs os something to do with the JP player ase perception of her of its notably worse, obviously english regions didnt think aki was great, but there was Daigo calling her bottom 1 which probably had greater influence in japan in how badly they saw her.
I'm half way through this vid and paused to see if anyone mentioned the internal testing vid that came out not long after A.K.I.'s release. It was shown she was much stronger before her release and as you're going through her changes these all feel like a list of nerfs they made to her before her release that they're now rolling back.

Season 2 is so incredibly down bad for Aki. Like If Aki said she was tired of standing season 2 would immediately offer to be her chair, season 2 would do whatever Aki wanted as if it was Aki’s personal servant. I’m saying this as if I wouldn’t do the same…
1:54 oh? Well first time i’m seeing it in action. The costume helps the feeling it’s almost a different character lol 3:25 yeah i thought that too. Pretty damn good light 4:29 and now she can get it into medium whip or light fireball for damage 4:56 yeeeah. Crazy 6:13 dang 6:27 even that yeah. Man
i think this does well to lean into her two-touch assassin kinda archetype, before she leaned too much on her poison to be an okay character. this does really well to round her out. the anti-airs too. those are just nice c:
on the drive rush cMK on block its probably worth to mention that if you go straight into HK and the opponent choose to press a 4 frame for whatever reason, you have a trade combo with another HK (or cMP depending on the distance)
Obviously everyone is trying out Akuma now but hopefully we'll see more Aki in actual tournaments, alongside Jamie, Zangief, Manon and perhaps Kimberly

I really like her buffs, Capcom went ham. The only thing I'm afraid is that an Aki army is coming. she is probably going to be picked more by high level player. And sadly, it means incoming nerfs in future balances
As a Jamie main, I've been eyeing AKI for some time now. Glad to see the low tiers got some much-needed improvement (except Lily lol). Definitely gonna try AKI out now
