So many have used my repeated tribulations as evidence that I "must not be following God", despite what Jesus and the scriptures say, despite their experience of me only being of love, compassion and seeking righteousness. Job had the same struggle. His friends were attributing his losses and tribulations to his "shortcomings" in pleasing God. But then God rebuked them and said they are wrong. The concept of God giving and taking away was corrected by God himself.

It is indeed tempting to joy in the world rather than joy in God: to place the blessings He gives us before Him. That's what the devil wants you to do, for sure. Seek to renew your heart in Him: this is an active thing, not passive. You need His help to do this, you need to do this, and part of you will not want to do this. And, I think, the first two parts of that sentence are there (at least in part) because of the third. Renew your mind in Him: when you enjoy things, seek to glorify Him in how you do so (or, otherwise refrain!). When you work, do it to His glory rather than your satisfaction or merit, and when you suffer push through it and learn about Him and make Him look good. I fail here. Only He is perfect - so seek Him.

You are not alone! I am praying too... this momentary affliction can not compare to the glory that will be revealed to us in heaven. Let us rest from our own works and enter into God's rest. Read and study Hebrews 4. We must trust the Holy Spirit to move in our hearts and minds at the time He sees fit to lift our afflictions, or bring us to supernatural peace through the increase of our godliness, or sanctification. He has not forgotten you Ian. Your brothers and sisters are here too praying for all the saints, including you. Soon we will be reunited with our Lord, and we will see why all this affliction was endured, and how God used us to bring more glory to His name and ours!
Sounds like spiritual warfare. If you've been genuinely seeking truth in God, the devil or his demons could be trying their best to keep you away from the truth and away from Jesus, I've experienced it myself. The devil only comes to kill, steal, and destroy, he wants to see you hurt and wounded, and knowing you're seeking God will definitely make you a big target. I think I know of a few things that can help you: Living Waters RU-vid channel (along with hundreds of their usual interview videos you can look up Ray Comfort's old sermons where he talks about Hell's Best Kept Secret, How to Overcome Fear, the testimonies of Emeal Zwayne and Mark Spence and general questions you have about God and the Bible, they have years worth of content), Marcus Rogers' channel (especially his videos about demonic warfare), Marcus Rogers' music (can be found on RU-vid and Spotify), and Torch of Christ Ministries. Brothers, the Lord showed me 2 months ago, an extraordinary vision, regarding the DAY OF THE LORD. I saw myself outside, among the people, and suddenly, an immense light, which encompassed everything, coming from above, of an unimaginable force and power, hit us unexpectedly. At that moment, I didn't have time for anything, I just managed to shout: OH MY GOD! I woke up instantly, and I heard a voice in my head (I knew it was the Lord), which told me: GOAL! And then I told him, remembering that in the BIBLE, it is written that the Lord's Day is a day of great auspiciousness, as it has never been before and will never be again, and I asked Him if this is what we must do, when we see this light. The LORD answered me that that LIGHT is HIM and that our GOAL from that moment, for salvation, is to CRY FOR HIM!! What I can tell you, after this experience, is that the ONLY thing we need is FAITH in the LORD. Believe me, nothing will save us on that day, except HIM! Glory to our Lord! AMEN!!!!!!

I think you should confirm with the Bible references that Piper has provided within this sharing. Probably, from Matthew 24: 30, we learn that the Day Heaven and Earth passes away is the Day Jesus Christ comes back, and that day as he rightly points out, no one knows, not even Jesus Christ.
I heard a clip on Desiring God RU-vid channel where they upload podcasts, On it Pastor John talks about a question that came in from the listeners about why Jesus didn’t know when He was coming back, being fully God. I really liked and feel it was truth the way Pastor answered. Pastor John’s answer was not what he demonstrated here on this sermon though. I’m wondering if this video is old or the other podcast was old because now I’m confused on this topic. On this sermon Pastor admitted Jesus didn’t know when Jesus is returning and pulled the scriptures to confirm that Jesus privileges were cut. I get that and it makes perfect sense BUT in the other video Piper explained what the world “know” means in the original language (not sure if was originally in Greek or Hebrew) and that the word Know can mean several things. For example when the angel appeared to the Virgin Mary to announce she would bear a Son. Mary replied “how could this be when I haven’t known a man” (paraphrasing). The word “know” is used (in the original text) there differently than how we know it today. Obviously she meant she has never slept with a man. And there’s plenty examples of this word being used differently in through out the Bible. At the conclusion, Pastor John said that when Jesus said “only the father knows …” in that moment Jesus wasn’t saying that He himself didn’t know but that “know” in His sentence … meant that when the Father wants to reveal that, He will. Once the Father is ready to announce that, He will. As was the costume back in Jesus day, only the father of the house can make important things know to everyone officially. Like a wedding for instance. Everyone had hints however it wasn’t so until the father announced it. But obviously the son who is about to get married knew… the household probably knew.. the bride have to have known and her family … so on but it wasn’t official UNTIL the father announced it. So if someone was to approach that young husband to-be and said “are you getting married? I heard” the bride groom would have said I don’t know. Out of respect of the father. That’s just how it was back then out of respect. So both concepts make sense but I just know what to believe as truth now lol

We don't speak from our minds, no, we speak with our mouths, what the heart of God says, that He put in us, and continually feeds us with(that being true, born again christians). It is not cleverness that will reveal to you what he is saying. I have read the bible once through, and some parts many times over, and have gotten more from prayer, and listening to what God says to me through a preacher, than text on a page. That's not what the bible is. The bible is the word (in time past) spoken by God, through people. It's living, it's breathing, and it's powerful. It has changed me. Base parts of me have changed, by God's grace, and the word spoken to me. True Christians believe what is spoken by God, and then act accordingly by faith. I'll say again, the bible is not text on a page, it's the Word of God, which Jesus is called. (John 1:14 KJV) "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." And He died for us, and according to what piper spoke Jesus will be coming back. (Revelation 19:11-13 KJV) And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.(12) His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns; and He had a name written, that no man knew, but He himself. (13) And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And He will condemn all those who have not believed, and those that choose to worship satan, and take his mark, and they will burn alive forever Revelation 20:12-15 ( 12) And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. We know the Beast treads down the whole earth and crushes it. He make war against the saints and overcomes them. Unredeemed Jews are not saints. Yes Daniel 9:24-27 deals with the Jews, but the Beast does much more than that to the earth. There is no scripture in context that actually teaches a pretrib rapture.
If you believe that Jesus is Lord and that God raised him from death you will be saved All those who believe in me - though they die - yet shall they live as they have already passed from death to life. No suffering spoken of! He who has the Son has the Father. He who does not have the Son does not have the Father. Jesus told Christians to pray for God's Kingdom to come and for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. God's Kingdom is a heavenly government ruled by Jesus Christ as King. Soon Jesus will bring beautiful changes to the earth. There will be no more death, pain or sorrow on earth, Revelation 21:4,5! No more wickedness on earth, Psalms 37:11! After Armageddon the meek will inherit the earth and live forever on it, Psalms 37:29; Matthew 5:5; Proverbs 2:21,22! The earth will be cultivated into a Paradise like God intended in the beginning, Genesis 1:28; Isaiah 55:11! Jesus will do on a grand scale what he did when he walked the earth including raising those who are asleep in death, John 5:28,29! If Jesus died to pay our sin debt, then he should still be dead. That's the price I would have to pay on judgement day, eternal death. And we wouldn't be required to repent of anything nor crucify our flesh on our own cross. Either he paid or we must pay thru repentance and obedience. There was no blood sacrifice required for the prodigal son to find the Fathers open arms welcoming him back home. Just a repentant and contrite heart. The way it's ALWAYS been. Ezekiel 18. Every man must die for his own inquity Jer 31. The old man must die so the new man can arise. Unfortunately most people have never figured out the gospels were originally written as allegory and later literalized by Rome. What if a born again Christian still struggles with alcoholism & struggles with at times being drunk with drunkards? I just don’t understand why the Bible says that God will come come back while you’re in that cycle of sin and send you to hell but it also says that once you’re saved you’re always saved and going to heaven. How can both statements be true?
I understand your question. Perhaps you can consider reading John 6 as a whole, and Paul's introductory letter to the Ephesians (Chapter 1). But first, from John 3:16, we do know that all who believe in Jesus Christ are saved. But, in John 6, we see a separation of the '12 disciples (John 6:66). The '12 disciples' were set apart to be 'fishers of men', because they believed that Jesus Christ is the 'bread of life' (John 6:68). They believed that the word of God is all that they need and, that the flesh and all its desires i.e. money, drunkenness etc., count for nothing (John 6:63; Matthew 4:4). This leads us to a next set of people, the 'new believers'. 'New believers' know that they receive eternal life because of Jesus, but as they take on the new path of salvation, they discover much more. With 'feeding' daily from the 'bread of life'-Jesus Christ, their eyes are opened to learn great and unsearchable things about God (Jeremiah 33:3). For instance, they get to learn that they can find their whole being in God, and that the world counts for nothing, in comparison to what God has to offer (Acts 17:28: John 6:63). Paul sents a letter to 'these new believers' in Ephesians 1. By believing in Jesus Christ we are saved through God's grace and mercy (Ephesians 1: 11-14). But, there is so much more to 'simply believing' in Jesus Christ, that we can receive the Spirit of wisdom and understanding to know deeper truths of God (Ephesians 1: 15-17). This is too long, but I hope it enables us to understand why the '12' must not be found in drunkenness and carousing when Christ comes back. All who believe in Christ are saved, but the "12 disciples' - the 'fishers of men' they know so much more, they must be found working in the fields. It's no wonder when the prodigal son came back to the Father, the elder son was in the field (Luke 15:25). For the 'elder sons', we do know that God is gracious, but we also know they will be judged more strictly (James 3:1). For me, that's where it gets 'confusing', but even to this, the answers are in the Bible. I hope all this is correct. I hope it helps.
Pastor John i absolutely love listening to your preaching, but allow me one constructive criticism in the form of a question. Why does every preacher ,pastor, etc. believe they are saving souls? When Scripture makes it unequivocally clear we(the believer) have little to do with it and no mention of the preacher. Yet i hear not just you but every pastor take credit. Is this Scriptural and if so where?

It’s the hearing of the gospel that plants the seed of salvation that ultimately only God can make sprout and thrive to bare fruit, but if there is no preacher to proclaim the gospel then how will anyone hear it to be saved? It’s clear from scripture that believers do get credit, heavenly treasure, for the seeds they plant that bare fruit.

What was a mystery to the Old Testament prophets was revealed by the revelation of Jesus Christ and the New Testament prophets. What was once hidden has now been brought into the open, two thousand years ago. There’s nothing Gnostic about the New Testament.

adam davis if you repent of your sins, accept Christ’s free gift of love, and give your life to the Lord there is hope for you! God is for you and since Christ defeated death on the cross there is NOTHING you can do to be separated from the love, grace, and mercy he offers you. All you have to do is recognize that you are sinful and need a savior to save your life. Praying for you.
Hi Adam, the fact that you recognise your fallen nature is a good thing. Please find a church, find more of Pastor John's teaching on RU-vid, learn about who Jesus was, and why He is able to save. I'll try to give a summary, but nonetheless, search deeper into the Bible. Since the fall of Adam, sin has had a hold on human beings. It has corrupted our nature and made us undeserving of God's presence. God however, loved us so dearly. Right from the day of the fall, He made a promise to redeem us from our sin and its consequences. He kept to this promise and sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to earth, to take on human flesh, and live a perfect human life. Jesus left his perfect Divine nature, inhabited a human body free from sin (virgin birth guaranteed this), and lived that perfect life. His perfect life lived on our behalf pleased God, he had no sin, nor consequence (judgement), no damnation whatsoever. Through this, we are made perfect with God. That's one part. On the other hand, he also willing laid His life down as a sacrifice for our sins. The death which we deserve, the hell which you think you deserve for your sin, he paid the penalty for it. His payment was infinitely worthier and greater than every lamb sacrifice that had been done in the past for our sins. With an understanding of this, I urge you to have faith in Jesus, your sin has been fully paid for, you have no place in hell anymore, you are set free. Read up and get to know Jesus better, pray for understanding, and intimacy, and gradually, you will see Him work on you. He will transform your imperfect nature to one that loves and walks in righteousness. It doesn't usually happen overnight, but it does. He will give you a new heart to sin less, and he will blot out your mistakes with his blood. He knows you are imperfect, and his perfect self knows exactly what needs to be worked on in you. You have the promise of eternal life waiting for you, the promise of a new perfect body at the second coming... So fear not, have faith, and watch the Lord do some great work in you. 🙏🏽

I face death every day, my life is never certain because I have disobeyed the Commandments. Please pray for me because God spoke to me and told me I am most definitely going to hell. Possibly the year, but that's not clear - it definetly could be longer. Jesus Christ himself tells us that the writing is on the wall when the wicked one (anti-christ) claims that he is God in the flesh and sets up an image for the world to worship by force (Matthew 24) Paul says the same thing in 2 Thessalonians chapter 2: "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God." You'll know its close when these two things happen. Until then I wouldnt lose any sleep.

@@mitchellc4 Actually Matthew did write that is written in his gospel and if not him someone of the same ilk. We have no way of knowing what Jesus said. We rely on the scribes to have told the truth but too often the contradictions and omissions found within the gospel give rise to suspicion of interpolation and falsehoods. As for Paul he was a charlatan cut from a cloth of the most devious material.

@@mitchellc4 There is quite a lot of scripture that I believe to be true. For instance we find Jesus advocating the keeping and beating of slaves. In the Old testament we find God recommending and authorising slavery. In addition we find Paul admitting that he is a charlatan, a trickster. However if you accept the scripture that sanctions slavery and trickery or excuses the drowning of people that is entirely your affair.
Where are you getting this from? This either needs to be fleshed out or edited; you may be leading people down the path of works here. Romans 5:1 "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" Romans 5:8-9 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him." Accepting and Believing in Jesus Christ saves you from God's wrath. You will follow Christ's commandments if you love him - but it is clear that you are saved from the wrath if you believe.
George Jesus Said..”Obey My Sayings. God Said Obey My commandments. God Gave us commandments to Help us live Good responsible lives. Why would you not want to live Gods commandments? I will stay with Jesus on this one. I have found living the commandments to be the most Helpful and valuable thing in my life. I do not believe in Gods wrath. God gave us commandments because He Loves us. The only wrath that comes is when you disobey the commandments. Your reasoning is crazy to me.
I still find it strange when people laugh during a Piper talk - he NEVER tells jokes and doesn't try to inject any humour into his talks, but there is inevitably someone chuckling in the background.

I agree. It was very sad to hear so many men laughing when Pastor Piper called Christians out for watching the Super Bowl halftime show. I pray that the laughter turned to tears when they reflected on what he said.

Our rescue as believers is before the tribulation, the church is not appointed to wrath, The rescue is for the Jews and tribulation saints that do not get beheaded. Amir Tsarfati explains this very clearly in his video ‘the restrainer’ and Jack Hibbs has a two-part teaching called “what you believe about the rapture and why it matters“ our redemption is not dying and going to heaven, it is the resurrection of those who died after being born again and those who are alive and remain to meet the Lord in the air to go to the place he prepared for us, revelation three explains that he will keep us from the hour of trial coming on the earth, check for yourself the church is not mentioned between Revelation four and Revelation 19
The litmus test is not getting perfect the end times theologies. Get Jesus right...and things work out. Piper is weak on the whole END Time theology some would argue. Understanding the FEASTS and Revelation especially Revelation 4.1 is not easy. Personally, if you do not have the gift of prophecy, you should avoid the topic as it is quite complex. Piper's gift is not in this area, he is a pastor' trying to do his thing, which is the right thing for him.
This pre trib rapture false doctrine is causing the greatest deception in the church. I know Piper doesn’t believe in it!! Most known teachers do! I know it’s not true because Jesus said it isn’t true! In John 6 Jesus says 4 times that he would raise up “all” the Father had given him on the last day! The last day is the end of the age. The “all” are everyone who are the elect. Every person who has been saved by Gods grace through faith from the first day man was created to the last day of the age. Lazarus’ sister Martha told Jesus “ yes Lord, I know my brother will rise again on the last day”. Everytime Jesus talked about his return, about the harvest which is the resurrection he said it was on the last day or end of the age. Hebrews 9 says jesus will return a second time not a second and third! Jesus right before he ascended to heaven said “ and lo, I am with you always even to the end of the age. Not even to the pre trib rapture!!! It is a heavy deception that has come upon Christians especially knowing that there is not even one verse in the entirety of scripture that mentions a pre trib rapture. Not one, and I dare someone to show that verse to me ! But to the contrary there are many verses that say the Lords return is on the last day. What are these people basing this false doctrine on? Fictional books like the “ left behind series” . Because scripture doesn’t teach it, Jesus never mentioned it, the early church didn’t believe it! Matt 24- Jesus says his return and the end of the age were at the same time and it was after the tribulation of those days, not before! It’s after the sun is darkened, the moon doesn’t shine and the stars disappear! I truly believe the church has listened to all these last days prophets for to long and I don’t believe these prophets have it right! False narrative. We were warned two thousand years ago that there would be many false teachers and false prophets telling people what their itching ears want to hear! And that many people would be deceived. And the reason for their deception? They don’t study the word of God but take false teachers for granted, they idolize some of these men! Their condemnation is deserved!
