According to Aberdeen city council parking on double yellow lines is not permitted, and not for loading/unloading or picking up takeaway food. And yet there are a plethora of people who park on double yellows, blocking the road

Hi,can someone help me understand where we can park 24 hours without being able to move the car around every two hours as I still haven't received my council permit, I am new to the UK and there is no much info on this. Is it no lines or white lines ? Thanks

For yellow lines (single or double) picking up and dropping off passengers is always permitted.

My council has painted double yellow lines near the corners of my street. With one set of lines there is a break in the lines of one car space, I assume a car was parked there when the lines were painted. Would the double yellow lines be invalid if they aren’t complete? One of the neighbours has received a ticket for parking on the lines even though the lines unpainted
@frankhooper7871
@frankhooper7871 3 года назад
Now if only they'd actually enforce these restrictions! There's a secondary shopping street between my home and the town centre with double-yellow lines; at any given hour of the day, you can guarantee there will be at least 3 cars 'parked' ther whilst the drivers just "nip" into one shop or another.

Wonderful video thanks a lot and helps for non-locals! Quick question if I may and it is very specific: have at times a multi-stop route set during a road trip where I would not typically stop on stops, it was mostly made to create a route. I use Google Maps (phone and cradled on air vent) as my sat nav alternative when driving. When say I reach stop 1 and want to proceed to stop 2 continuously, I may need to touch the screen button to cancel stop 1 which will resume to stop 2. Was wondering if pulling over to check navigation for a few seconds on yellow lines at any given time would permit it? My assumption is that this would be in the situation as in literally parking and not the equivalent of loading or waiting to pick-up? Thanks!
@InclusiveDriving
@InclusiveDriving 2 года назад
I don't think adjusting satnav on yellows would be a valid reason to stop.

I’m from Wolverhampton, I even passed my theory in the test centre that was mentioned. I came to this video because I will need to work out the parking for delivering in Wolverhampton. Are you allowed to load and unload from disabled bays?
@InclusiveDriving
@InclusiveDriving 3 года назад
To be honest, I'm not certain. As parking (actually properly called 'waiting') and loading/unloading are different things, I'd say you need to look for any restrictions on "loading" and the "waiting" restrictions would not apply. That's just my best guess though. The question I would raise with you is would it be ethical to use a disabled bay for any purpose if you are not disabled?

Please can you clarify this. Can i park on and then move off from a single yellow line during the driving test when the examiner asks u to pull up on the left? Eg if the no waiting plates say 11am - 3pm and my test is at 10am?

Do You Need a Signal For a Left Turn Only
@InclusiveDriving
@InclusiveDriving 2 года назад
I would suggest we still signal as ot helps pedestrians know what you are doing if they are planning to cross the road. Younger children may not understand that you can only turn left, but they probably know what a flashing orange light on a car means.
