We've recently got our hands on some Basor cable tray, which makes installation a breeze!
The pre-galvanised tray is 'fast fix', allowing sections of the tray to be interconnected and bolted together without the need for separate couplers.

@@R0me0316What’s with the hating on unions and union workers for some people. What part exactly is it? Is it the better working conditions? The better pay? The great pension and full medical benefits? The better education? I’m not union at the moment, currently in the process to become a lineman for my local power company where I will be union, and I’m personally looking forward to it.

@@tomwall2361 it is just like drywall profile. Thin and stamped. Unistrut uses wire, which has to be spot welded and then should be coated.

I’d use the steel cutting blade in my cordless skill saw. Much cleaner and straighter cut. I’ve installed my share of tray, but much heavier stuff than this.

I've done a few cable trays 8n my day. This is definitely one of them . Usually, they could be replaced by a run of drive rings. I need more than 40 cables to even think of using this. Preferably more than 80.

Cable trays are mounted on or near the ceiling. To mount this one you would need at least four men to put it up.

I think I’ve seen these on flat rooftops on commercial and residential buildings. They hold the wires and tubing for mobile phone and HVAC above the roof surface so the wires won’t be sitting under water or snow. It requires drilling fewer holes in the roof and it’s easier to secure the wires.

I use trays to fasten my conduits but I use conduits. I just don't use plain trays because if you have to run just a single extra cable. It could be a real pain. To add another cable I just have to run a new one up the right conduit and to the exit point I don't have to scoot a new cable every three feet going up through a drop ceiling or if I have to work in an attic space. So now trays for just wire management. No I can use hangers and conduits in most small jobs

Curious if you are aware of drill attachments or power tools that can do the same thing as your manual ratchet and socket tools. They make it go a lot faster. For next time...

@@nos9784 I couldn’t make out the brand, but if you freeze-frame when it’s in his hand, you can make out “zinc galvanizing spray” on the can. I looked it up on Amazon & found a bunch of different brands.

Galv spray, comes in a can with a nozzle so you can spray it on to the item you need. But apparently it’s a lot more effective to make sure the cardboard doesn’t rust.

It actually looks a little more complicated than it needs to be. I have ran plenty of cable tray but we don't use it as much as they do outside of the US. The Europeans that install the conveyor systems always ask why we run so much conduit. My answer is hell i don't know!

Use Noga for deburring not a file ... MUCH better job. And a power nibbler does a way neater cut than a jigsaw too.
