🇲🇩 In this film containing three parts we explore a fist derelict village, then an abandoned Soviet palace in a remote village and finally Object 1180 which was a Soviet nuclear bunker built in the middle of nowhere.
Not to mention his heroin. -from the episode where he tells the hotel lady that's asks if he smokes, that he doesn't smoke. then in english he says, "only heroin" haha!
@@maskettaman1488 and what does "diversity" have to do with piss poor people trying to mug you? And believe me, there are more than enough of these in the countries of the former CCCP.
You are totally right! I have seen this exact comment in at least one other of his uploads, was that also you? Not that it matters, just curious if somebody else happened to get that feeling, or if you had that reaction more than once
"I think I freaked them out a little bit." Probably, a couple kids hanging around in an old abandoned builing, and then some random adult climbs through a window speaking to himself in a foreign language.
@@AndreasEUR Bad american thinking? Firstly he wasn't just talking to them. Hes in an abandoned building with nobody near. The kids were smart. Maybe the reason human trafficking is so high in other places is because of trust like that.
@@AndreasEUR Oh, boy. There's a lot wrong with that statement. Jimmy Saville and Cyril Smith spring to mind and I didn't even have to think about it. Pedophilia knows no national boundaries or ethnicity. Keep your children safe.
When exploring dark old bunkers, you've got to be really careful about shafts in the floor. You're walking along looking at the walls and you don't notice you are walking straight into an open hole in the floor!
when you asked that kid in the cinema "do you know who this guy is?" referring to lenin he said in slightly dodgy romanian "this is where you go watch concert"(phrased in english as close as possible to how it was phrased in romanian)
Regardless of how many people you run into, You one of the few Traveling Eastern Europe, and probably the only Vlog that Speaks Russian and English, You don’t edit cursing and you drink with the locals, Epic
Yo the way the kids just creepily walked out from behind that wall at first had me shook. I was not expecting anyone to be in there. Lol obviously bald had talked to them before having them on camera but jeez😳
Fascinating. You’ve got a knack for engaging with the locals, while not being too patronizing and finding the remnants of a Soviet infrastructure the world has forgotten.
One thought for your safety before I go. Be extremely careful on these buildings. There may be places on the roof for ventilation that are covered. Do be careful not to fall in. I lost a coworker who wasn't paying attention and fell through one. It was a sad and unnecessay way to die. Constant vigilance!
You are absolutely right, you can easily hurt yourself in those places. (sorry for your loss, I know it's a private thing but I just wanted to say that I'm saddened to hear about you coworker)
Boring? Are you kidding me? This is amazing content, you don't have to talk to someone in every video. Just being able to travel without actually travelling is awesome enough for us, keep this stuff coming :)
Duo only taught me schit like *_Я ем пюре а не суши_* (Im eating mashed potatoes not sushi) It still hasnt taught me basic schit like Почему, Куда, Понял, Магазина etc all of which I learned from Bald's videos
I keep saying dashydanya to my mrs. I know it won’t be spelt like that and I’m not certain what it means (thanks or goodbye I’m guessing) but I don’t really care I just like the way it sounds
Binge watching old videos. Seeing these out of the way villages is so interesting! In the 80's what was behind the Iron Curtain was a mystery. Love how the towns all seemed to have had a community center for films, dances and other activities.
Those two (were there three, there weren't three, were there?) boys are the only living souls under the age of thirty (or twenty) I've seen in your Moldovan videos. And the young ones seem to be speaking Romanian. I wish you would have spoken to them, I mean, just to ask where all their buddies are, or why they're not at school (if they have trains and what not, surely they've got schools in the country). That's a disaster (economically speaking) though, having the youth of a country speaking a different language (although, back … at a bus station in the Capital, if I'm not mistaken, I saw a flyer for a social/political event aimed at the well-heeled elderly - I can just picture Judi Dench poking about the ruins of the Național (Hotel))… Oh, and, yelling, "hello???" down old abandoned Soviet bunker-shafts, aren't you just setting yourself up for some nice nightmares? But that's a different day's story. Well, I'm off to your Chernobyl set, now. Glad to see you're still alive (presumably not radioactive). 😃
@@damianalexanderthornton2663 Romanian and Modovan are the same language, some say Moldovan could be considered a dialect, but those children were speaking the language of their country. Romania is the union of Valaquia and Moldova (and Transilvania was added later I guess). Centuries later Moldova was divided and part of it was given the USSR, that part is today's country of Moldova.
@@Ukitsu2 Yeah, I understand/speak both Russian & Romanian (I've done more than my fair share of traveling, myself - probably more than Baldr at this point, but he's certainly catching up) but at 8:50 (well, basically throughout his videos) Baldr’s got his version of Russian going, but the boys are clearly speaking Romanian, not Russian at 12:00 ("acolo stai și te uiți la concert" / "you sit there and watch the concert"). But to my ears it sounds … 'Russified'? I hear a heavier than [my] usual 'e' in their speech. I know what they said, but to my ears, I heard something like … "achuolo staiy șiy tie wuiți la conciert" (which is a horrible mangling of spelling, but, as I said, that's what my ears heard, phonetically). I'm very aware that it's probably just an accent thing, the way most people from Texas would likely understand every word of English I spoke, but they'd say I sound different because I have a British accent to their ears. Baldr seems to have a preference for quick trips the east - apart from Iași & Bucharest, most of my travels [in Romania] have been from the northwest (think Oradea) east to maybe Sighet, then south towards Sibiu / Craiova and back to Oradea via Reșița & Timișoara by car. I take trains to Bucharest, and I take planes to Iași. I've never driven myself to those two cities, but I am familiar with them. I think I've accumulated about five years in Romania by now. It's my go-to place when I want to retreat from "the real world" and just drop off the planet for awhile. I'm unfortunately too posh to go where these videos were shot though, because in all honesty, I am a skinny 6½-ft tall bean-pole of a human … I'd be lying if I said the idea of just dropping into completely unfamiliar territory (that's partially in ruins) doesn't intimidate me. It certainly intrigues me - but look at him - he's built like Dwayne Johnson! I'm built like Timothée Chalamet, except about 10 inches taller and probably 10 years older. But not one ounce heavier. The only things I have the power to intimidate are scarecrows because one look at me gives them anxiety attacks about their job security!
@@Ukitsu2 12:00 "acolo te duci și te uiți de sus la un concert" … or something along those words. (I have the world's worst short-term memory!) "[that's where] you go and watch a concert from up there" You get what he's saying … I'm apparently incapable of memorising it! I'm presuming you speak/understand Romanian. If not, I guess you'll have to take my word for it. 🙂
I love your random travel style, you have the personality of a genuine explorer. Your content is unpredictable, you improvise all the time, and that's good! Good luck on your journeys!
The bunker has over 10 floors most of them are filled with water for ages . Nobody new about its location or purpose and I remember as a kid when people were shocked to see a lot of military trucks leaving in 1991 , nobody saw them when and how were brought in. Also I remember grown-ups were taking later that the cement was brought from Mother Russia somewhere , it was special cement not produced locally - I'm from nearby town SD

10 floors! Wow. When bald was looking down I was wondering how many floors go beneath the ground. I was guessing maybe another 2 or 3. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge.
The combination of a genuine love for people, traveling and seeing an underrepresented part of the world, a very high level of charisma, and on top of that a message that is bigger than all of us...Your channel will be enormous one day. Big fan Ben keep it up!😁👍
I really miss traveling this year and this channel has helped so much to satisfy my graving to explore different cultures and people and revived my interest in Eastern Europe. I hope B&B is doing better and will upload new videos soon.
It is not boring. But it is shame you could not grab some local dude and make a more thorough exploration of that bunker with some commentary :-D that would have been awesome.
What a dead town. Btw, what’s the major difference between Romanian and Russian? Do they speak similar languages or are the people in Romania just kind of bilingual because of how close the country is? Iether way, this looks fun. Keep up the good vids!
It is a lot easier to learn Romanian if you know English and French/Spanish/Portuguese/Italian already. Some Slavic vocabulary and shared features with other Balkan languages but very different to Russian. In Soviet times in Moldova Romanian was written in a special type of Cyrillic.
New to your channel and I am loving it. Your videos give me the freedom to travel the world, meet local people, explore hidden gems, and learn local culture without leaving my house. I love your videos. Thank you for making them.
I like how he can just think and talk about about random history from seeing anything, he could see a leaf fall from a tree and tell that leafs whole bloodline, it will always be entertaining.:)
Watching your videos has overtime distilled a quiet interest for me in soviet history, something i never thought would happen. I think you have quite a unique way of using timestamps with interesting historical facts to draw relevance to where you are and what you're showing us. Very well done ,Bald. Keep it up and you'll go far.
same here! from watching these vids I started googling "ussr culture" and stuff like that, however I've yet to find something that touches on the topic quite like B&B does though.
@thequick thedead nope. They always point a direction n s e w. but of course you can believe whatever you want, spinning planets, infinite space, 🎅, etc. I'm not here to pick on you. This is what love really looks like
Love that you can walk into all these abandoned buildings without fear of being assulted by the youths you find in there. Having worked in abandoned buildings in the UK it's a scary job sometimes as you never know who you'll come across. Most likely they'll be drunk/high/aggressive so it's a delight to see how different it is elsewhere
It's not always that safe. I believe the reason it looks safe is because this was in fairly remote area or a small town. If you stumble upon an abandoned building in big city, I recommend getting out of there as soon as possible.
In that situation (and I've been in similar buildings in other countries in the former USSR), I'd be just as worried about having a balcony collapse while I'm standing on it, or asbestos exposure.
Bald, love your content. What I find so amazing is the contrast you show between Capitalism, Socialism, Communism, and those left with whatever that is after the fall of CCCP. There is corruption within all forms of government and, ,as you stated, it is the peoples of the villages, towns, and small cities who suffer the most. As for those of us in large cities and metropolises, political corruption is more easily concealed within social program/manipulation and such. Great channel, amazing content, keep this going. I am fascinated with content of Moscow, Kyiv and Odesa. Cheers
Brother your videos are good whether you meet someone or not is irrelevant. I'm a black guy from the US who was just randomly chatting up a woman whose parents are from Russia. She speaks Russian fluently. She told me her parents were from Belarus! I told her I knew about Belarus and she asked me how? I told her I knew about Belarus from you. She said she had heard of you, and then some guy from Somalia had chimed in and said he knew you as well! You are bringing people together from all over the world. Thank you so much! You are awesome.
Aww ...cool story. I am a mixed ethnicity white lady New Jersey , USA. They (the media) make it out we hate each other. Except for a few idiots as we see in this thread. I do not know anyone that feels that way. It is the so called elite pushing the NWO.
I love old military buildings. I was involved in investigating many on a Spanish island. Also investigated some nuclear bunkers in the UK as well. It would be great if you could gain entry to more in the future. Great video :)
Mind you bald, it wasn't boring. It's informative and a little bit creepy. Oh what a video you made, I enjoyed it. Keep it up. You are now on my watchlist 😊👍
I liked the little village, I loved the landscape and the sunny fields. I like that your videos are non scripted, not everything needs to be wacky and crazy, the chill content is nice too!
Unfortunately there is so much corruption in Moldova that people have to leave for a better life, everyday people from kids to old people,I’m from Moldova I lived in there 19 years and i had no idea about this tunnel and bunker
Still catching up with all of your videos. Have to say how much I've enjoyed them. I love to travel, but only when I can. Thanks for sharing all of your travels. Continue doing what you're doing. ))))
I have been so engrossed in all of your videos over the last week that I’ve forgotten how I even found your channel! Your content is fantastic and for someone who is trying to learn Russian, so far I’ve learnt a great deal from your videos. So please keep doing what you’re doing 👍🏻
yo, in Moldova only homeless people will just hang around during day time on the streets. Everybody else is at work, in the fields or elsewhere. (with the exception of some retired people who might as well be busy in their homes or backyards)
This was very interesting. My son in law is from Moldova. To tell you the truth until I met him I had no idea it even existed. He told us his country was very poor and there was no future there for him. He is now a very proud Canadian. He is very much like the Moldovans in your videos. He very kind, friendly and a very hard worker. He grew up in a small village farm and went to university in the capital city. After he finished school he came to Canada. His father is still there but the rest of his immediate family have moved as well. I'm going to tell him about these videos and ask him about the villages.
No video is boring when it involves your narrative , I would even watch a video of you strolling through London . Heard the news. Best wishes to the road to recovery. From Canada
It has a Wikipedia page. My favourite part is the caption to the main picture: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahmut#/media/File:E58,_Pojarna,_Moldova_-_panoramio_(6).jpg "Skyline of Bahmut" as though it were some city with loads of skycrapers.
I figured as soon as you left the train station, the station mistress picked up the telephone and said, "Master, food has arrived in the village. I will try to keep him here till the sun sets."
I love coming to RU-vid and seeing a new video from you, Mr. Bald. I love seeing parts of the world this disabled body will never take me. Thank you for helping to spread kindness and an openness to peoples that don't often see foreigners. Nostrovia from these United States!
@I HRIA EM "He knocked into the doors of dozens of houses abandoned and dazed by the passage of time, but he did not give anybody. This time, the British had no one to knock wine glasses with, as it did in previous trips." This is the most brilliant translation I have ever seen lol
Be careful exploring abandoned underground mines/buildings. They can be filled with carbon monoxide, which you can't smell. You don't feel the lack of oxygen so you end of passing out and dying. Dangerous stuff.
I don't know if carbon monoxide is the largest danger, there can be a variety of dangerous gases or a lack of oxygen as a result from oxygen being consumed by the decomposition of organic material and rusting. Carbon monoxide is a possibility but it would not be wise to carry a meter only for that, you need at least one sensing both CO, combustible gases and oxygen.
Like others below, I'd like to say that your "boring" videos where "nothing happened" are in fact REALLY interesting. You give us a glimpse into a world that few, if any, will ever visit and your audience is constantly amazed by the sheer balls you show in striking out into the unknown. Keep 'em coming, the boring and the crazy ... we'll watch them all with interest, humour and relish every moment.
