I just got a full PC set for 420$ Here are the specs(I bought it second hand) CPU:i5 10th gen GPU:1070 ti HDD:512gb SSD:240gb Ram:16gb Monitor:msi 24" 144hz AIO: NZXT(I don't remember the model name) Speaker: Logitech z407 Keyboard:Keyboard keychron (I don't remember the model)
I wanted a non-glass case but they didn't have white in stock, so I have a glass case now. You should still manage the cables though for better airflow purposes.
I come from the early 2000 gamers era. "Rat's nest" cable management was kind of a norm. We just leave it a mess hidden in the back compartment as long as it doesn't affect the PC case airflow.
My friend once bragged that his back panel cable managment was so much better than mine, i said "you will regret that when you need to do something there"
He wont. Not having to dig trough all your cables is invaluable, and you can always take them out (unless you decided that zip ties make a good cable management).
Can I close my backpanel? If yes, then the cables are managed well enough 😂 If not, try to push the panel a little harder and if it still doesnt want to close: time to manage the cables better!
Not so much anymore, but when you had all those drives to plug in and upgrade over the years it made it a huge pain to have a system cable managed in the back. You have to undo the whole thing to plug in a sata drive. That's why I avoid zip ties when I can.
Also, cable managment isn't a big a deal when all the heat sources are water cooled so airflow is lower on the priority list to make way for higher spec components
I just built my first PC using Lian Li O11 dynamic and I have to say as far as cable management. It was very straightforward and simple to run cables where you want them!
I've been buying used parts for years and never had any major problems. It's important to sus out the sellers, do some small talk etc. for a vibe check. With experience it's pretty easy to gauge when someone is trying to rip you off. Either way, with the amount you can save on things like GPU used, you could buy 2 and still spend less than buying it new. I scored a brand new EVGA 3070 while back for $270
Good practice is go new on motherboard, PSU, and storage as those are where most failures happen. Used CPU, GPU, RAM as long as there's no physical damage and the seller isn't blatantly trying to rip you off they'll be fine 99/100.
I yeeted all my cables into the back side of my dual chamber. I did however use specific colours for the Velcro straps just so I can pull out what I need easily.
He needs to acknowledge the Antec P120 its absolutely perfect for budget ballers. Dual chamber case that I got on sale for $80? It's super clean and sturdy as well
I honestly started to appreciate those twisty wires with rubber cover much more than zip-ties over the years. They hold tight and you don't have to cut them every time you want to change something in cable management.
I just got one of those new project-zero cases with a motherboard that has all the connections on the back so the wires are out of sight completely. Really looking forward to that build.
i have a Lian Li 011 Air Mini. I actually went from a RM850X PSU to a SF850L so I would have more room in the back for cable management. What i mean by cable management is stuffing the cables in the smallest place i can get them. It actually worked awesome with atleast half of the space in the back of my case being empty now just because of the smaller PSU.
I personally like to have nice cable management in the back just so if something needs an upgrade or repair I know exactly where all the cables are and don’t have to deal with a mess
In 2021 I used RU-vid and google to teach myself how to build a computer. Then sourced and built everything myself. It was an incredible experience but I will be happy to leave it to professionals moving forward. My cable management was horrendous lol.
the biggest obstacle doesn't tend to be the routing itself. It's often where the manufacturer placed the cutouts for the routing and especially the amount of play with the cables if there is any. certain companies have a bad habit of handing you cables that barely reach where their supposed to.
personally i like sorting out my cable management so it doesn't become a pain in the near future because those dual chamber cases are on the massive side so that's another personal issue.
I do love to see how before I came along, cables were hidden much more. Since I showed sewing cables added to the aesthetics, cable clips and other options emerged, now being the DeFacto standard in a clean PC build. Hell yeah! I loved how Penny-wise took it to the next level and sewed cables end to end, from MB/GPU to PSU. That build was F'n clean.
I find it funny the cables they give you either expect you that have a huge case or tiny case. Also expectation is to have multiple components onto one power cable. When you do use those cables that way the components are 2 to 4 inches apart max and you get 6 to 8 inches of cable between which causes so much extra cable.
I cable manage my cables to the point where its easily identifiable what cable goes to what, then group like cables with ties. Not groundbreakingly pretty but makes finding/replacing cables a breeze
Don't know how many on my own builds I said to myself "This time it will look great in the back" and then 3 hours later...... "F' it and shoves panel on!"
Surprisingly with my ADHD I had to cable manage after I built it. When I first built it I was like I will cable manage later. When I kept looking at it in the back I had to fix it, lol
All those extremely neat and channeled back-panel cable showcases are using custom cables. Out of all the cases and assortment of components I have had, not once have there NOT been some overlapping diagonal mumbo-jumbo cables. Sometimes following the correctly flow of the case is too long for the cable or too short so you have extra cable just smooshed somewhere.
Looking at those pcs, I noticed that the look of a Mainboard is also important, some of them looked like they got spraypainted, that makes the nice looking braided cables look like junk
Good to see the original video. I saw one with a dude plastering his face over the video and just saying random words every so often just to make noise
I got a 1200 watt daisy chain style cables PSU so I was essentially stuck with all the excess cords in it. It was the only one I could find with surge protection built in like temporary charge and auto shut off built in when power is cut to prevent a true crash. For large towers too and I have an office model tower case from 10 years ago. The back chamber doesn’t have enough room for the massive chained cable
The new motherboards from msi with all the plugs on the back side are amazing but the problem is you have to utilize their specially made cases for a build using their boards. Still their cases are incredible looking specially some of the newer ones they showcased at edc and im excited to try one soon.
