New sub, how to reduce it even more if you have an essy voice I have a friend can it be done by just cutting high freq?

Excellent question! If you cut the high frequencies, the voice will begin to sound less clear, and less detailed. Clarity in the human voice goes up to and above 10kHz. Ess sounds are around 4-7kHz. You can use a De-esser plugin, which is just a multiband compressor that only works on compressing the high frequency range you select ie. 4-7kHz. The BEST way to prevent Sibilance though it when recording, using the techniques I mentioned. In editing you can also go into every Ess sound, zoom in, make an edit on just the Ess sound, and turn it down with clip gain. I have a slightly automated way of doing this if i need to.

Secret tip number 5, get an actual pop filter instead of using a face mask as a pop filter. Unless in a pinch then I guess it's fine

Please eq settings for Shure sm7b, how’d you get it so clear?

Cool! Take off the foam windshield first can help. Then eq and compression. I used hardware for this, it’s my neve eq with a high shelf around 16kHz and maybe a mid boost. I can’t remember. The OLA5 opto compressor from DIYRE also adds a nice high frequency presence as well.

What´s the name of the model for the mic on this vid? Cuz i think it sounds good enough.

Thanks! That mic is an SM7b. It is a fantastic microphone. It is the standard for podcasts, radio and broadcast and sounds excellent for recording vocals, guitars and drums!

@@diyrecordingstudio I've got the same mic and i still can't get rid of the sibilance, thinking of buying something else if you have any recommendations!

Your SM7b has a problem with sibilance? I’m shocked. Is your foam filter on it? That should kill any of that. Or you can use the thicker one for it which might help. It’s a great mix I wouldn’t trade it in.

@@diyrecordingstudio I think it's just my voice! I haven't tried the thicker foam, I'll give it a go. It's really obvious as I'm working on a ballad atm so vocal much more exposed and the reverb is making it worse.

@@elharropbad room……more than likely that’s where your strong sibilance problem is coming from.
