Hi! First off, anyone who's willing to devote their time to helping others is awesome! Thanks for putting a video like this together, you explaining depth of field relative to how close you are to the model seems to often get overlooked. A few bits I'd like to mention, please don't take these negatively, you're awesome! You mention not shooting at your camera's widest aperture, you meant the lens right? When you're showing the example of you shooting multiple photos, the second photo appears over text I could not read? Not sure if that was just me or what. Looks like some footage was shot in higher frame rates and to me that gives the video a bit of a less professional look. You obviously know what you're doing when it comes to photo so not sure if maybe it was a stylistic choice? I see a lot of folks shooting using the rear lcd as a viewfinder, and you mention having atleast one point of contact to your body; are you really able to get sharp images like that? I'm genuinely curious, not trying to troll or anything. I struggled getting sharp images when I was starting out and quickly found the 3 point of contact method was the only way I could get consistent results. Thanks for taking your time to make educational videos! Have an awesome day !

at 3:35, the left image iso100 seems to be slightly out of focus, so actually the iso5000 image turned out somewhat better. But of course we get the point :)

Is it bad that I’m more impressed by the video of the model than the photos themselves? 😆 the dof, the contrast, the clarity, the way the sun hits the camera but nothing changes image-quality-wise these are more impressive for me 👏🏼👏🏼

I’m not sure why it isn’t talked about, but I typically don’t care for low aperture lenses for portraiture. F2.8 is more than enough and sometimes too shallow to get sharp detail.

9:54 maybe you don't know, but if you hold shift the "open image" turns into "open object" and you open the pic as an advanced object in PS, meaning that if you double click on it you can later come back to the original camera raw file and keep changing settings there. Otherwise you can't and are forced to start all over again in case you forgot to change something

I think in this shot you were holding the camera too high, this having the effect to make a bigger head and less hips, witch gives an impression of not being true to gravity and the way a human body works and articulates. I agree with everything else and the advices you give in this video, and the picture is otherwise beautiful, with colour in the background and a huge demonstration of the DR of that camera. As for post sharpness, I prefer to copy layer and use the shake reduction filter (even when there is no shake to reduse) and use that layer at a % I adjust only by looking, or localise it to several areas. I like that you did not overdo it. Sometimes softness is sweet too. Sharpness or softness is a question of INTENT, and story telling too.

My best tips is to shoot in burst mode and use smaller aperture like F/4. You may sacrifice your shallow depth of field and not getting that much blur but if your photos aren't so sharp and often lose focus, then what's the point of taking photos? Don't be afraid to experiment with the aperture. You don't have to worry about very shallow depth of field if your composition is good. There's a lot you can do than just only use widest aperture all the time.
@justinsane3909

Hi I am wedding photographer in Mumbai. When shooting moving subjects during wedding event. when I view the pics they are grainy and also tried to reduce the noise in photoshop I don't get satisified result. Tell Where I am wrong.
@seanedwards94
@seanedwards94 4 года назад
If you're images are grainy, then most likely you need more light. It sounds like your compensating with higher ISO or by pushing exposure in post. Since your photographing moving subject I would try not to compromise on shutter speed, but lower shutter speed could help and you may like the motion blurred result!

This is a really nice video. Your model is pro? She very much acts it, either way. Her reaction to your asking her to drop a button was funny. Your retouches are well done, though you lost me on the eyelash/brow edits, as I didn't see enough difference to warrant them. Your content that I've seen is well rounded, if a bit rushed, and has great depth. This one vid taught me quite a bit, actually!

Your ISO point is not correct. Higher ISO allows one to increase shutter speed. There is enough range of ISO between the two extreme you said. 100 to 5600. 400 to 800 ISO today are normal and they produce sharper image.
@BachPhotography
@BachPhotography 4 года назад
I didn’t say sacrifice shutterspeed for iso, I said lower iso tends to lead to sharper images
@vimalneha
@vimalneha 4 года назад
@@BachPhotography How you get a sharper image when there is LOWER light? And a flash may not be appropriate or available? The issue is which ISO range? Image with a slight grain is better than a blurred image. And a sharper image can be had by increasing the ISO, thereby gaining higher shutter speed as a distinct possibility, as an enabler.
@Thefroggang101
@Thefroggang101 4 года назад
@@vimalneha unfortunately, some cameras don't do well in a high ISO setting. Especially, camera that already crop and doesnt allow alot of light in. As a beginner, most people are shooting with older model but good cameras, but also do not do well with high ISO settings. Of course, sometimes you have to sacrifice some high iso and grain in some cases. However, in this video there were no reason for him to use high ISO which is why he made those suggestions, I'm sure. Alot of new cameras, have the ability to do amazing in high ISO settings.
