I tell you why Thy is best in europe "for whatever reason with your saying" because in economy class you have different meal options with alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks for FREE, while your other airlines ask for 10 euro for a plastic bottle of water, and staff very helpful not miserable other companies. Just wake up and do reality check for this reason
I flew Turkish Airlines Economy, possibly for the first time in my recollection, Vienna to Istanbul, then Istanbul to Zürich in August. One thing that did impress me was the fact that on both segments roughly 2 to 2.1/2 hours I was served a hot meal with a little starter and pudding, and wine. I was amazed - I thought airlines had given up proper service on shorthaul flights in economy
I have flown Turkish many a few times between Chicago and Istanbul direct. They have never disappointed and outperformed both US and european carriers in my experience. I flew business once and it was a great experience at a price that beat any US carrier. I also want to add that around a month ago, on another long haul flight from Istanbul to Chicago - a child on board had a medical emergency and the crew was fantastic. We ended up having an emergency stop in Goose Bay but I believe the crew saved that little girls life on board.
We flew Turkish Business Class yesterday from Singapore to Athens, after flying Singapore Business from Melbourne to Singapore. Turkish is our current airline of choice but both airlines did well. Happy to be on a B777 from Singapore to Istanbul because I find the flatbed more comfortable than on the newer planes. Excited about the prospect of Turkish Airlines flying from Australia from December and hoping for flights direct to Istanbul.
I have flown Turkish Air business several times from the US to Bucharest for business. It’s a great product and very underrated imo. Their business class fare in the US is usually 1000 dollars cheaper than the US legacy carriers.
Two European airlines operate intra-Europe wide bodies on select high demand routes. Iberia from MAD-LHR and Finnair between LHR/AMS-HEL, both with lay flat seats. Though TK also has a sub-fleet of narrow bodies with North American style 2-2 lounger seats on some European routes.
Personally, i think turkish airlines has a huge problem of luggage and delay. Each month i take turkish from Addis-Abeba to Antalya or even to Paris, each time my flight is delay and my luggage is lost or still in Addis.
Looks like maybe the table wasn't broken, but you weren't using it correctly? At 6:48 you have pulled out the support from the centre armrest but you didn't have this out when you were trying to use the table. I must admit I have never seen a tray table where you have to pull out something else like that before.
Hi Josh. Great job. As a special request, please create a course on how you started this review journey, especially for young and aspiring RU-vidrs like us. Great video.
I have been following Josh and it's a learning experience for me simply watching his videos. I closely and attentively follow him to gain max knowledge about aviation truths.
I flew on Turkish Airlines from Edinburgh to Johannesburg via Istanbul in 2022 and found the service on board excellent… 💯 I can’t say the same though for their call centre… 🤷🏼♂️ Anyways… the Turkish Airlines ground and cabin crew staff were also very good. I would recommend using the airport lounge in Istanbul though, if you’re there long enough, as the food and drink prices in the airport terminal alone were just completely ridiculous. Great showers and overall cleanliness in the airport lounge itself… I just couldn’t fault it.
Worked on six continents and flew with every major airline past 60 years. Measuring the airlines solely based on inflight food or the seat is not fair and good enough. You have to take the total package including the ground services, etc..Based on my 60 years of flight experience, I take the Turkish Airlines over the most US and European Airlines.
Regarding Wide Body's on inter European routes, Over the Summer I've flown Turkish Airlines 5 times Manchester to Istanbul The aircraft seem to rotate between A330-B787-And on two occasions A350, it tends to be the afternoon flights with widebodys . The A350-900 is, in my opinion, the Dogs Bollocks.
On my flight from LAX to IST, the FA kept the loo clean. However, they always set the toilet seat cover when I just wanted to pee. At first I thought she didn’t clean up after herself, but then realized she just set the seat cover. Different culture I guess.
Been at Munich Airport before and it was the same as what you had experienced. Either way great video. Hopefully, I'll fly on this airline to see what the flight experience is like but in economy this time.
My experience from London to Istanbul B/C. Was awesome… Nice food as usual, clean lavatory and super nice crew and Istanbul Airport is also one of the best in Europe.
This aircraft specific that you flew, used to be part of Tam Airlines (LATAM) in Brazil, which I used to maintain. If by that time, around 2014, 2015 this Business Class was already outdated, I can imagine now. Those seats are terrible, like a slide, not 100% flat and by the end of your flight you're almost on the floor. It really surprises me how TA haven't updated those seats.
We have flown three different Business class seats on their A330 during September, some planes from Frankfurt to Istanbul have the same seat as their 777 seat, some have these seats, and some have the older black recliner like in their A321. It’s kinda random what product you get
I have flown between Schipol and Istanbul. Both A330-200 felt old to me. One of them was 20 years old. It is time to replace with new ones. Not sure new A330s but seems like 787s i guess.
Thank you for the interesting videos. Actually, I used to fly between Toronto and Berlin for business. The airline was selected by price/schedule. Whether we were waited on by white gloved attendants, severing gourmet dinners (with great presentation) was not high on the list of priorities. One gets the impression that Josh likes to be pampered, and that is fine if travelling first class. Most travelers, I believe, just want to get from point a to b safely and on time.
They fly from Frankfurt to Istanbul as well with Airbus A330. And the boarding process, well, I was in Madrid lately, there they had lines for each boarding group, and the whole process was a a breeze and not like a rugnby scrum...
Where did the Myanmar video go?? I suspect the egg, coconut, banana descriptions got you a strike. When I heard it, I was afraid that it was NOT going to sit well with RU-vid's TOS. Hope Im wrong and want to see the video in full, edited of course.
Glad to hear!! You're the only airplane RU-vidr I still watch. You remain unique, true to your individual style, grounded and humble. Above all, entertaining AND informative. I hope you don't do any "joint" content as you did in Africa last time. You are in a different class than others
Josh. You should review the Turkish Airlines Aeroflot planes ✈️. If you fly Cape Town to Istanbul you can see another secret Turkish Airlines business class
I had to take a sudden Turkish Airlines flight once (standard Wizzair abandonment), I thought they were pretty good. Most memorable thing though is I wasn't hungry (had planned for and eaten for other travel), but the attendant said something like "no you're a strong young man you will eat your food!" and forced me to take it hah. Still no working wifi/internet though, I've never been on a flight where it actually worked ever.
5:57, The best in-flight entertainment is Turkish Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Delta Airlines, United Airlines, Emirates and British Airways.
Claim your 10 minute tickets here , I love your videos and yeah I am not shocked and the a330 and a340 is old they all have this type of seats but on the a340 there is a middle seat 💀 💀
Phew. Came to this video after the QR one. As a TK employee, i am relieved. Fun fact is i saw an old colleague of mine at the boarding of this video😊😊😊 i wil text him to see if he saw the video 😊😊
Just subbed to your channel mate and an I love hearing and Aussie “twang” in you accent. Have picked up some very useful tips for my own travel watching you. 👍👏👏
Turkish are quite good. I have flown them more than 20 times and think that they have the best food in the sky. It's not Emirates. But it's a good product.
Turkish put us on this from Kenya to Turkey. All the seats were broken and wouldn’t recline and they were missing meals. Idk to me Turkish is not up to par for what I expected for that kind of route. The only thing that was decent was the crew who were apologetic but Turkish refused to do anything about this experience we had. I was very disappointed by them
Agreed with your hard product, food & crew ratings. One thing you forgot to mention is their customer service. Maybe you never had to deal with them? Because they are the worst by far. They never understand the issues at hand.
Josh, did you do the English pre-flight safety talk recording for Southern China Airways? I was on a flight last week in China, and I swear I heard your voice playing over the intercom!
I flew A330 TK business Bcn/ist, in august. I thing that is the new business class design for somes a330 aircrafts, flying only to Europe. The food is still good, but was better before ! The service quality isn't allways TOp ! But, still good expérience ❤
Recently flew 4 times within 2 weeks (AMS - JAKARTA) in economy. Very mixed feelings. A350 (longer legs) - stunning but slightly cramped. A332 on shorter - inter European legs... smelly and surprisingly run down but quite spacious. I agree that wide body is a treat within Europe, but found out that the plane I flew on from IST to AMS operates frequently on Istambul - Boston route. They are great, however I've noticed some consistency issues over the years (first flight 8 years ago).
Josh which business class is better?? 1. British airways 787 2. V. Atlantic 787 3. Cathay Pacific a350 4. Air China a350 5. China eastern 777 My dad needs to know as he’s flying from Heathrow to either Shanghai or Beijing or Hong Kong this November
I fly THY 2-3 times per year. Economy. Different planes but good-very good every time. At least Airbus 321 with very good entertainment and as food i choosed "asian vegetarian food" (yes, you can choose in economy!) + orangejuce and than 30min later got a coffee (you can also choose tea). I love THY. I hope they don't skimp on food in future.
Great way to wake up on Saturday with a Josh Cahill video! I think this airline still has alot if work to do on the ground. Long lines at check in and chaos when it's time to board only to sit on the ground for another hour before taking off. I think you were generous in your rating. Have a safe trip to India.
A330 used by Turkish daily on Dublin Istanbul route. I found it a pleasant if not exceptional flight in Economy. Took Turkish 777 following this flight, from Istanbul to Seoul - same -pleasant but not exceptional
I plan to fly Turkish Airlines from Washington and wanting to know how the airline is being I have not flown them before but have heard many good things about them. Would anyone recommend this airline?
Good cabin for a 2-3 hour intra-Euro segment, despite being on the very anachronistic side. What’s not good is the fact that TK uses that product on flights as far as to Dakar… These should be phased out by 2024
It hurts to hear that you are taking the Indigo flight from IST to DEL. Good luck for that one, you're gonna need it. I would never take an international flight on Indigo. Even the domestic flight on indigo would be only when there are no other options available in that route.
I wonder why turkish flies out of T1 in munich. Star alliance usually flies from the far far superior T2. I guess theyre not paying enough. T1 will get a huge upgrade soon though
Hi Josh, Long time fan. Your laugh is infectious!!! Have you reviewed AerLingus?? Cant find any. Lve to see your opinion. Johnmichael from Dublin . Ireland
Good stuff Josh love all your reviews. Never done #2's on a plane either and even though I can often have a jelly belly I would rather not eat than the alternative.
I almost always fly turkish because they're the cheapest option coming from asia to europe via istanbul. I also recently got their student pass where I get 40kg total in economy, which really helps. Their product is really good, including free (barely usable) unlimited wifi (miles and smiles member, which is free), good food and really good legroom, but their staff is almost always horrible. Blunt and rude at times, maybe it's just a culture thing but I really don't enjoy their staff.
I was flying Turkish Airlines from Hamburg to Cotonou last year, via Istanbul. I didn't regret my choice, accept the catering from Istanbul to Cotonou wasn't great. They served noodles, which tasted good, but I was easily able to count them... Arriving at my destination, first thing was to get food - at 1:20am! When I needed to change my flight, the customer service at the office in Cotonou was very helpful and I wasn't even charged an additional fee! Try that with Emirates! Next adventure for me will be Air China to Manila in December😊
I am from Turkey the country and I love Germany one that I want to go there and this summer and we are in Illinois and we’re gonna go there to Istanbul in business class in Turkish Airlines🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪
