Snow White is my favorite fairy tale and I never thought about it the way you explained it. Thank you. People in the past were very practical, every story was a life lesson.

As I was told it, the story is based on a true historical event, surrounding the eradication of a royal line related to Ceasar in the Alsace Loraine, only it was a little prince who was rescued and protected by a group of Jewish miners.

I see the term “beauty” here referring to the spark of divinity of the human spirit, as capable of individual bravery and forthright confrontation with the unknown, such that the technology/culture/barrier offered by the snake and by the queen is the temptation to allow cultural assumptions, to allow one’s current understanding, to allow the known- to halt the emergence of novel understanding, to halt to emergence of adaptation to tragedy, to halt the expansion of character. This means the story isn’t saying “you’re already pretty”, it’s saying “you harbor the indomitable human spirit which does not need some product (like ritualized therapy) to fix your vulnerability” So the queen is offering concocted external ways to become self-conscious of the vulnerability/limitations, And the lesson is something like “the beauty is already there” the ability to DEAL with tragedy and the journey of life and the unknown its all already Idunno, I’m trailing off into projections

Really interesting hearing your link to the fall. Might be interesting to consider the link to the 3 temptations of Jesus in the wilderness - particularly the one about authority being given to him. Authority was due to Jesus anyway at the proper time, it was already his inheritance/identity. Same with the bread, it’s not like he was never going to eat again (bread itself isn’t inherently sinful) but the timing was wrong. The most dangerous temptation is subtle, satan masquerades as an angel of light.

Keep in mind the Disney version was written by someone of a certain religious affiliation that didn't care for the original story and how some people might see the evil step mother as being a representative of them and their money loving ways and reputation for being cunning and deceptive.

My interpretation of Snow White reimagines the tale as a narrative exploring the spiritual journey of humanity and its struggle against materialism. In this story: The Queen represents Earth and Nature, living harmoniously until her symbolic death, representing the moment humans gained self-awareness and lost sight of their true, natural selves. The result of this shift is Snow White, a symbol of the pure spirit of humanity, created by the divine King (God) and the natural Queen (Nature). Her characteristics - white skin, red lips, and black hair - embody the human potential for purity, industriousness, and exploitation. The tale's antagonist, the Evil Step Mother, signifies those who use manipulation and deceit to control and exploit others for material gain. Her hatred for Snow White signifies the inherent conflict between the natural world and those who seek to profit from its exploitation. The Huntsman and the Seven Dwarfs represent those who respect and seek to understand nature. The Huntsman, embodying organizations that can distort our understanding of nature, nonetheless shows mercy to Snow White. The Seven Dwarfs are seekers of truth - scientists and philosophers - who work for understanding and harmony with nature. The mirror serves as a revelation of truth, unmasking the false promise of happiness through material wealth and highlighting the real joy found in love. Various symbolic objects and characters, like the disguised Queen and the poison apple and comb, represent tools of manipulation and deceit, designed to control and enslave humanity under the guise of false benefits. As Snow White lies dormant in her glass coffin, she symbolizes the pure nature of humanity, awaiting awakening from the spell of materialism. This awakening is facilitated by the Prince, a savior-like figure, who represents enlightenment and liberation from materialistic illusions. I believe the seven dwarves are each components of what comprises the common characteristics of the jaded husband. They have lost their "charm" and luster - albeit totally enamored and dedicated to Snow White.

okay jonathan what's the green belt mean? cuz I'm only reminded of our lady of guadelupe who wears a green belt to signify her pregnancy with christ. Its an Aztec symbol.

With all the respect I have for Jonathan, I feel like I have to say something before everyone starts to take Jonathan's interpretation for granted. He may scratch the surface but his application is too restricted and narrow. Snow White is not strictly a female puberty story at all. It is actually an alchemical formula described through a story: The magnum opus, the purification of matter, the making of a philosopher stone, described as a personal and spiritual transmutation in the Hermetic tradition, which men and women should or must go through, perhaps several times through their life. It is done through 3 phases (nigredo, albedo and rubedo, so blackening, whitening and reddening - sometimes 4, adding citrinitas, the yellowing, inbetween white and red), all colors characterizing Snow White's appearence, and 7 operations, represented by the dwarves. They are not fragments of the ideal mate, not at all. I'm also gonna clarify one point which is not part of this clip but which they talk in the full version: The corset and the comb have nothing to do with amplifying her beauty, and Pageau's correlation with the apple is not bad but off as well. In alchemy, the soul, the spirit and the body are respectively represented by sulfur, mercury and salt. The corset is an attempt, by the witch, to cut Snow White's breath. The breath represents the soul. In french, breath is "souffle". When you suffer, your breath is altered. One should see the link between the words sulfur, suffer and souffle. So the witch is trying to cut Snow White's soul. The comb is poisoned and is an attempt, by the witch, to damage Snow White's hair. The hair is the most volatile and the uppermost part of the body, it represents the spirit. I will assume one can make the link with mercury. The witch is trying to break her spirit. The apple is poisoned and is an attempt, by the witch, to physically harm Snow White. It is pretty much straightforward here: the apple is flesh, the body. I will add that when Jesus said we were the salt of the earth, he meant that we were his body. So here, the witch is physically damaging Snow White's body, causing inner chaos. The witch's attempts at harming Snow White's soul, spirit and body are all necessary for the Magnum opus (it's called Grand Œuvre in french, by the way) realization. They are not an obstacle in the way of the realization of the process, but are part of the process. One must go through death and rebirth of the soul, the spirit and the body. The rebirth of the soul and spirit is done through the 7 operations, while the rebirth of the body is done through exposure to the light (symbolized by the prince, in the story).
