Imagine coming out in front of a crowd like that under God knows what circumstances and belting out these songs . This is as honest as it gets, and I love it love it love it. Just amazing that this was preserved, as haunting now as it was back in '65. Watching and listening to this video is the happiest thing that has happened to me all week. Thank you!
Judith Durham voice was impeccable. No better voice in folk/pop music. Her voice had better resonance in the 60s than in her later reunion with the group.
Amazing performance-The Seekers stood out from the rest of the 60s bands playing only acoustic instruments-they had their own distinctive sound with the fabulous clear crystal voice of Judith Durham!. A big difference between The Seekers and The Beatles- people LISTENED to The Seekers whereas people SCREAMED at The Beatles-they couldn't hear what they were playing-they gave up playing 'live' .Tom Springfield wrote most of The Seekers hits -his sister Dusty was on the same bill great artist too-! By the way The Seekers sounded just as good live in 2014 as they did in the 60s!
They did play electric instruments occasionally. They worked their way from Melbourne to London as a cruise ship band and they had to play stuff in every genre. Here's a link to them playing "Walk, don't run" in a film recreating that voyage and The Seekers turn out to be a pretty good surf music band. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rWfdWg1TRUc.html
What a treasure! Worth even more after all these years. I must confess…..I have had a crush on Judith since I first saw her sing in 1965. I am 75 now and she is gone. Alas.
0ne thing among many that I like about these guys is that they sound as good live as on their records. Judith is so small and vulnerable, seemingly in need of male protection, but when she sings she knocks it out of the park.
Their motto back in the 60s was "Australian music to the World". They certainly served it up in spades and hasn't the World been a better place for having The Seekers ever since.
A concert one year before I was born. The world was simpler and more honest before. The Seekers have become one of my favorites. Judith has an incredible voice.
There's a new world somewhere They call the promised land And I'll be there someday If you could hold my hand I still need you there beside me No matter what I do For I know I'll never find another you There is always someone For each of us, they say And you'll be my someone Forever and a day I could search the whole world over Until my life is through But I know I'll never find another you It's a long, long journey So stay by my side When I walk through the storm You'll be my guide, be my guide If they gave me a fortune My pleasure would be small I could lose it all tomorrow And never mind at all But if I should lose your love, dear I don't know what I'd do For I know I'll never find another you But if I should lose your love, dear I don't know what I'd do For I know I'll never find another you Another you, another you Traducir
I remember what stood out in this song was the haunting vocals of the female singer that brought this sing to life in the 1960s,she was created for that role
What can i say about the seekers every time i listen to them they blow me away and pure professionalism and timing bowed out at the right time got back together at the right Time no wonder there legends in their native Australia
Wow! Perfectly done. Judith, nor the guys either have never missed a note in their lives. Perfect pitch. Like someone else said, they didn’t have the technology they have today and evidently didn’t need it. You would hear so many groups who had all of this help in the recording studio to make their record sound good. The Beatles for one needed all of these dub overs so they really could make their live performance sound like the record. The Seekers just sang it live and it was exactly like the studio recording. That is amazing. The only other person and group that could do that was Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge.
The Seekers always put on great live performances. Judith had perfect pitch and the harmonies are just sublime. Arguably one of the best live performers of that era. Even the Beatles couldn't pull off many of their recordings live. Their performances on the New Musical Express appearances are really poor.
That song eventually knocked "Ticket To Ride" out of first place after it had stayed there for 5 weeks. The Seekers won the award for Best New Group and Clint Walker was there to hand out the awards. As they walked away, Clint's eyes watched them longer than would usually be the case because he was admiring Judith's figure from behind.
Music from the last century.......with any luck people will still be enjoying this timeless music next century. The Seekers are a class act and have entertained several generations of fans with pure music.
My two favorite songs by this group. I don't know his name, but the guy to Judith's right sure can open his mouth wide, and the one on the bass viol (?) at the other end sure looks a lot like Danny Thomas did while they were popular.
Do you know, I'm 67 now, so old enough to have heard them the first time around - but I appreciate The Seekers all the more these days. What an angel is Judith Durham. And let's not forget Tom Springfield who, as mentioned here, wrote some of their most memorable songs. Does anyone know if The Seekers wrote any of their own?
I don't think they had any of their own compositions at the start, but towards the end of 60s they wrote a few and there were more originals on their reunion tours.
Hahaha, many many many ☺. Actually their hits mostly were wrote by Springfield, but as many folk music artists they did covers, sang traditional songs and wrote others by their own, and also there are many great The Seekers songs that were composed and wrote by them. Also they collaborated in the composition of some of their songs with Simon And Garkunfel, more specifically with Paul Simon, another folk music group.
I've watched this video many times (and I'm 69). But what I really enjoy about it is I try to imagine what the group is experiencing in their young adult lives! Can you imagine the emotions? Their families back home in Melbourne, Australia whom they have not seen in many weeks? How proud they must all have been! Wow!
@John Thomas, Very well said! I’m 70, and I remember the exact moment and where I was standing when, at 15, I first heard ‘I’ll Never Find Another You.’ And, like every teen-aged boy back then who knew of The Seekers, I had a huge crush on Judith Durham.
