It’s ridiculous how he’s called a flop when there’s maybe 2 players that had as good a career as Neymar this generation that being Suarez and Lewa (obviously excluding M&R) Neymar would’ve been in the goat debate had he been born 10 years earlier or even 10 years later
God i dont like when videos go "lets start from the beginning. X was born in...." no we dont need to know the colour of his fav shirt growing up. On topic though: Neymar had 3 issues. He was lazy as fuck, greedy as fuck, and mentally weak as fuck. The 3 worst enemies of successful careers.
I will say not greatest but neymar could come close to Ronaldo , but achieving what messi has achieved is not possible because messi won 3 ucl ,3 golden boots ,4 ballon Diors in a row,4 fifa the best and a treble and a sextuple before the age of 25 , achieving this stats of messi before the age of 25 is likely close to impossible 💀💀💀 and also remember messi despite being a winger and a goal scorer has the most assists and the most playmaker awards and the fact that playmaker awards are mostly for midfielders , btw no hate even Ronaldo is not in the league of messi forget about neymar 💀💀💀☠️
@@Unkno_n yep. you will get hate on this cmt, but you are absolutely right. Ronaldo is closer to Neymar than he is to Messi. In terms of talent, dribbling, entertainment Neymar is above Ronaldo. Messi is the most talented player of all time, best dribbler of all time, but in terms of skills, i think Neymar is better than Messi also
Yep. That PSG move opened the doors to the mess we have now. I love Neymar, but that move really fucked up a lot of things in football, including his own career🤦♂️
@@_XAV_ One of the best deals Barcelona ever made, they knew they weren't going to get what they wanted from Neymar so they got a shed load of cash and moved on, I wouldn't say he was a wasted talent but it's not a stretch to say he never achieved his potential, even if what he did achieve was pretty good.
@@gs8494 I mean, was it worth it? They spent all their Neymar cash on just Dembele and Griezmann and then proceeded to keep digging a hole with other mediocre players
Here's the thing, nobody has that level of work ethic. The physicality, the drive to strive for wins even after winning so much, is what makes CR7 one of a kind. But it should not be a standard for footballers, there're just not enough people like that haha😂
@@gabrielgodoi4565Yea,but at least Messi work ethic, like 3 hours of football drills and 1 hour of pure workout. That would be enough for Neymar,he was very tallented.
@@gabrielgodoi4565 because most people like cr7 are not given even a chance, football is after all, all about politics... I'd say if it was fair, Brazil would dominate football world forever since i believe every corner of slums there has another Ronaldinho. But then again, there would be more guys like cr7... All i'm trying to say, football is not 10% of what it could be. There are many more who could literally give away their lives for football, just given the chance.
@@CensorshipRebelHim throwing himself on the ground is just a byproduct of what football is. You can make a compilation of every single offensive player in the very league doing the same thing and it would be a 5 hour long video each.
He led his national team to their first ever gold metal in the Olympics. He also won titles with Santos and Barcelona. Again most professional players today dream of having a career like his. Anyone’s that’s played any sport knows you don’t get to be mentioned in the top 5 or 10 best players of you time by being a flop or not working hard at it.
Olympics doesn't count, they send a bunch of 25 yrs old or younger, no real men to compete against. No way Neymar is in top 5 in the world, may be top 5 in Bresil: Pele, Messi, Maradona, Ronaldo (the original), Romario, Beckenbauer, Cruyff, Zidane, CR7, ... Neymar has a very successful career but he could have been considered being the greatest. Let's see if he can win a WC in 2026.
I don’t think Neymar is top 5 or 10 of all time just this generation. He might make the top 50 of all time and even that is questionable. Also to mention Neymar and familiar in the same sentence is a great injustice. Even to get to play on the teams he has played is a huge life time achievement for 99.9 percent of all professional soccer players.
The issue is Neymar prioritized parties, his hair, social media and money above being a hard worker and focused athlete. If Neymar had CR7 work ethic for example, he would be in the pantheon of the greats. It’s s shame but he did that to himself.
Neymar is a surreal player because in a world where we have a next "Messi" every year he actually was the one closest to Messi in terms of pure skill. He was South America's next superstar but injuries is what derailed his career more than anything.
His move to psg was one of his downfall its not Neymar's fault but PSG itself ruined him. A move to Seria A or Prem would have been the best choice for him
This .... He went to a team without competition a team where all the players don't care .. if he went anywhere else even Bayern he would have been the 3rd best
@@saint7732 Its not the competition, the club had no chemistry it didnt care about its players and team it had no actual team play they only stacked expensive players left and right expecting to win something. Neymar was thrown out into Mbappe's shadow because (he's young and won the world cup) and later on Messi also got signed which is the whole reason he left barcelona. And later on many expensive signings were made, it was team full of solo plays, none of the player were built around someone. If he went a club where he would have been the heart if the team it would have been different. Like most brazillian legends he could have joined Ac Milan or a prem club other than Chelsea ( he would have been in Eden Hazards shadow) And any team other than Bayern where he could shine in the bundesliga)
It was his fault tho. I remember all the bs he did before leaving to PSG and he didn't leave to win the ballon d'or he left for money and the problems he had with the managers because of his EGO. The "I'm staying" post when he was in Barcelona and then a week later signing with PSG, essentially making fun of the club... He could've won the ballon d'or in Barcelona, but he left because of his ENORMOUS EGO and that was HIS decision.
As a Brazilian, what I personally saw in Neymar's career is a reflection of our (myself included in this too) new generation of people. Neymar here has always been a great hope for our entire nation, but he let himself be carried away by fame and money, I believe that something in him broke or the passion he felt for football was gone, perhaps due to the pressure we exerted him or something like that. Neymar decided to become a pop star, that is the reality and that is and was his decision. Here in Brazil we still have people who defend him, but only children aged 10 to 17, they do everything for their little fan club to support Ney. Unfortunately, this is the reality of my country and my Brazilian team. Neymar was and is a failure.
Imo social media changed a lot the relationship of people and companies here with football. Now you don't need to be a great player - be decent and charismatic and you can do some advertising on your social media to get that bag. Neymar after going to Europe (specially after leaving Barcelona) become more of an influencer than a footballer
Neymar is proof that talent doesnt give you a ticket in life He lacked work ethic and determination Like it or not neymar is the most skillful and talented player i have seen in my tym
Actually right. As a Rono fan. I always had huge respect for Ney. He can have the potential to beat both Messi and Rono. But his mentality decreased his chances
As he should. Dude was poor when he was young. Now that he has ALL the money in the world why would he care about soccer that much? It's better to enjoy life a bit. You guys have no Idea How bad life is in Brazil for people who aren't rich.
I remember all the bs he did before leaving to PSG and he didn't leave to win the ballon d'or he left for money and the problems he had with the managers because of his EGO. There is the thing about brazillian football where young players are already grinded down early in their careers. These boys live hard lifes in general, football is a mean to an end (financial succes and stability being the end goal) nothing wrong with it imo considering it all... Adriano comes to mind and had a similar story. Dude did his part, got mauled and got his money got his fammily out of poverty and wants nothing more. Thats ok. I dont think its fair to expect people to be the GOAT.
His ego wouldn't let him. If he stayed, swallowed his pride and knuckled down then his dream of winning a Ballon Dor probably would have been realised. Instead he chose to be a big time Charlie and chase that Ballon Dor with PSG. It backfired massively
If he'd gone to Italy he would've been the star he wanted. I also think he let the money make his decisions. Now he's super wealthy and unhappy with his career.
Lol, y think something materialistic will make u happy. As long as your comfortable can live and buy food and a house that’s all u need. Cars and yachts do nothing for your soul

Maybe Neymar had fun regardless but legacy is all you carry on wether your living or past away.
Nah, a player of his caliber should have won at least 4-5 ballon d'ors if not more. He didn't have the work ethic for it, but in those years that he actually tried (2014-2016) it was evident what he was capable of. He just never really put the foot down, only once in 2015 and that's the legendary season he produced there.
Penaldo scoring hundreds of penalties in his career. Bare in mind that Ronaldo is an out and out striker, has been for a while. Neymar is a winger, yet he is Brazil leading all time goalscorer.
Neymar could have stayed at Barcelona, remained loyal be paid crazy money. He decided to seek personal glory. He could had been a Legend. Or he could have gone any Premier League Big 5 when he decided to leave Barcelona. Man Utd would had been excellent. He would had been the main man there even today. A shame.
If he went to man united it would have been 100x worse than psg, he would have won nothing and have his career ruined like pogba, lukaku, di maria, alexis sanchez, Ronaldo, etc. Man united is a terrible club that makes all their top players somehow lose their form within a season.
As a United fan, moving to us would have been a bad idea lol. He def should have stayed with Barcelona. Why does he need to be no1 player in the world? Footballs a team game and he had the honour of playing with Messi. Footballs too individualistic these days.
I hate how often the word ‘GOAT’ is thrown around when it literally refers to the “the greatest of all time” which means ONE player, not two, not three, but one. Neymar could’ve been considered the best player of this current generation but the greatest of all time? Not even close.
all Brazilian footballers have f like a curse: Play like a god and at a point in their career they go down due to injury /partying Only exception was pele. the only man who reached his true potential in brazil
The problem is the football world, they burden neymar saying he has to become this, but it doesn't really matter because what matters is what he wants out of his career, maybe he never wanted to be number 1🤷
If he never wanted to be number 1 he could've stayed in Barca in Messi's shadow and continued winning every club level trophy. He just wanted to party.
What you say about the burden is correct. Another example is how Mbappe was burdened for 7 years to go to Real Madrid. People saying he HAD to go or else he would never be a legend, which is bullshit. Neymar definitely went to PSG to be the #1, but only he can say if he went because he wanted to or if he was convinced by others that he had to.
@@abhijiththampi Not really, I'm implying worlds best, he probably wanted to be number one in a team and not world's best, not to mention external influences like his father, he probably regrets it
Everytime you see Neymar injured or fouled it's as if someone's hacked off a limb. The guy was always soft, physically and mentally , it's no wonder he didn't last.
Or, he was overreacting because he was injured numerous times and it hurt like hell? And considering his style of play, other players were hitting him out of spite rather than tactical necessity
There are many good young players, but only outstanding players can keep going. If they try hard, hopefully they can go far. On the other hand, there are more hard work players every year. If they are not outstanding, they are not chosen sadly. The good team will look for younger players next year. We hear about super stars but there are plenty X100 millions time more disappointed players in the whole world who work very hard. No connection, no luck, no good profile,no one cares sadly. I hope hard work players are successful, but the reality does not help them.😭😭😭.
Ronaldinho is the best example of self-destruction...At his prime in Barcelona, he was the best player i've ever seen in my opinion. (like many of us, i've seen messi play, but that guy did whatever he pleased with the ball). But he partied at such a level that he even attempted to build a tunnel from his house to a nightclub he owned.
he's amazing, but Ronaldo and Messi were just too much for him , the 2 GOATS can do tricks all right for fans to clap, but they dont waste time on it like Neymer does , they find ways to win the game score more , NEYMER should have learnt that from them
I feel so bad for his even though he's definitely fulfilled his own wants he hasn't fulfilled his potential. if instead of going to psg he could've made a mark for a premier league team and could've still been playing there today. His injury plagued career has stopped him too and he could've thrived at the top level today.
I think Premier League or Serie A would've been a better move. PSG has been buying top talent for years and still can't win Champions. Ligue 1 is not top level European football.
How can these so called experts who haven't worked 1% as hard as Neymar a day in their lives, say he's "faking" it? He's been playing since his teens! He's had some serious injuries, including to his vertebrae. You can't be the same after those type of injuries even after surgeries. He and only he knows how much it hurts. These athletes put their body through so much for our enjoyment and then when they don't perform they're tossed aside. They're not race horses! Poor Maradona in his old age wasn't even a millionaire and was in constant physical pain in his legs. Is it really worth it when even he, a legend, became hated in his own country? Don't be so easy to judge!
Dismally weak, incomplete and fact light documentary. Neymar's demise wasn't his poor choices in clubs, it was his party lifestyle, his lack of professionalism, the lack of loyalty to clubs, his indiscipline at training, his frequent refusal to work with fellow players or team coaches.
Yes, but at the same time, things would come out differently IF he joined any clubs that weren't PSG. Yes, his partying habit is a disease that almost every Brazilian player has, and in Neymar's case the fact that he joined the richest club of all time, with the amount of cash he get and the amount of top player the club can get to play with Neymar really worsened his behavior and habit. So yes, his lack of discipline, loyalty, and professionalism is the biggest part of his downfall but joining PSG of all the clubs really took the cake.
But it is still poor choices in the clubs because every team he played for was every football players dream but he thought he was still playing for some neighbourhood football club, if his lifestyle was the cause of his demise then surely he wasnt ready for any big clubs
I hate when people always call these talented, not-going-for-legacy type of guys a failure in case they're not achieving 15 UCLs or ballon d'ors or playing until 51 at the highest level. Football is one of the least attractive sports to pursue a legacy. No HoF status, no football achievement to sell as a pundit CV, not really marketable for everyday merchandise like let's say basketball shoes, and for nowadays, no statue nor banner either for a legacy you left behind. Imagine being as talented and as great as Thierry Henry to eventually be paired with a guy that has more own goals than goals as a pundit. it's pointless Neymar got the bag, have tried to give the best for the Brazil flag, and won a lot of top team achievements. Nothing more to strive for. It's not his fault that football fans today are a bunch of stats accountants and glory stock traders.
Neymar was so insane even countries where futebol had no relevancy, bought the transmission rights of the São Paulo championship just to see him playing for Santos...
@@alphamale3692the media made Neymar's head to be in the cloud, he was brainwashed by the media to leave Barcelona and join another team where he could be the star man. He would have made that decision. ESPN and the other top sport media and pundits were the true culprit of the dreaded saga
@@Joshflemin The problem here was never the media fully, the biggest enemy in neymar's career was neymar, he was extremly enjured prone, one of the reason why messi and ronaldo dominated the way they did it is because of how rare it was for them to get injured, something that neymar did all the time specially at the crucial moments, if they guy dint spend more of his career injured or diving he might had reached the stars but he did not, neymar's biggest enemy wasnt messi, the media, money, ronno or whatever, he lacked the diciplined and commitment to stay at 100%.
Always got love for ney...... that wc goal against Croatia was worth going thru..... hes had his share of hard luck.... hopefully theres one last redemption story
Great video, really well made. A great player that was unreal to watch at times, a good career but what maybe could have a been a great one still been a pleasure to watch him at times.
neymar one of the biggest what if players of all time. He had it all in his locker the only let down was his discpline to always be the best which separates him from ronaldo and messi.
One thing to keep in mind is that football is a collective sport. When Neymar was at Barcelona, the team was playing for Messi and it wouldn't change. At PSG, the team had a lot of talent, but the league was weak and the team didn't have the will it takes to win the Champions League. Also, when it comes to the national team, Neymar has been the sole talent for over 14 years.
Before you guys say anything: he’s eating the best food, fucking the hottest girls, driving the best cars, playing football with his mates AS A JOB, traveling the world, making millions, while barely trying because he’s just that talented. You guys want him to be as feverishly obsessed as Ronaldo? For what? For who? He’s living his best life. In the correct way. His way. It’s the best any of us can do.
He went to the wrong team in Europe 1-2 years later than he should’ve. Had he went to United at 16-18 he would’ve played under Ferguson and he would’ve instilled some professionalism, work ethic and muscle onto him. Instead he went to Barcelona where he remained weak and learned the dark art of diving. Yes he became a better passer and dribbler but he could’ve went there at 21 after spending a couple of years at Arsenal, United or Chelsea. There is something to be said to have played with Xavi, Iniesta and Messi but he would’ve been a much more complete player having played in England. The competition is much better there too. You don’t only have to show up against RM, Atlético Madrid and maybe one other team.
I think there is something so devastating to work hard all your life and then someone just wraps up your entire life as "just not good enough", "made wrong choices", "wasted potential".
Neymar isn't a football legend? Huh? Neymar from 2014 to 2018 is one of the greatest players to ever step on the field, this guy was considered the 3rd best player while the 2 GOATS were at their peak, he's one of the top scorers and assisted in football history and won almost everything

Ronaldinho's plays-- whether dribbling, passing, shooting, shielding, or even receiving the ball on this chest-- were of a wider variety, surprising, more impactful, and of a more interesting creativity.
You know, I always see these videos on how Neymar “failed”. I mean the guy won a treble, including a Champions league, puskas award, won 9 league titles in 4 different countries, countless of individual prices, runner up in the copa America. As well as being his nation’s all time top scorer. I mean not everyone is Messi or Ronaldo. The guy had an amazing career. 100’s of thousands of players would kill to get his career. Yet we say “he failed” nah man. He didn’t. He was brilliant.
Without alcolhol and partying, Neymar would have been up there with Messi and Ronaldo. That's the thing. To be the GOAT you need to give everything you have.
Nearly as insane as the lack of quality of your comment. If you respect the quality, hold yourself to the same level. But you can't take 3 seconds to write a proper sentence.
The problem outside of cr7 and Zlatan. No one chased to be number 1, football is a team sport. The individuals shine when they're able to perform as s group. Why barca were so scary with Neymar, he played with the team and it showed.
Stop the disrespect. Neymar is probably the greatest athlete to ever step onto a football pitch. Brazil all time scorer, surpassing the legacy Pele's record. Santos leading all time goalscorer in history. One of the only few players to have score hundreds goals with three different clubs. Idc what ANYONE says, Neymar's 4 biggest disappointments (wc 2014 vs Colombia, 2020 Champions League Final vs Bayern, 2021 Copa America Final vs 🇦🇷 and the 2022 wc quarter final vs 🇭🇷) none of them were his fault, he was either brutally injured or Neymar tried creating chances and his teammates wasted them (Mbappé vs Neuer) he isn't like Cristiano Ronaldo who in his latter years begs for the ball so he can score a goal, or like Messi who gets painted as the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ and "could do no wrong", he is Neymar Jr, he has an innate ability to make a game of football both entertaining as well as practical, but Neymar Jr can't be surrounded by players who can't do their jobs and still manage to carry, look at Ozil for example, he was unbelievable before the 2019/20 szn, but bc Arsenal went through a poor time in terms of performances, it's Ozil's fault that the team isn't working??? Pls don't make this argument ever again smh 🤦♂️
If he wanted players who could do their jobs, why didn't he stay at Barca? When Neymar first arrived in PSG I commented that his excuse to leave Messi's shadow was BS & he will be playing in China by 30. Ngl I was excited to brag about a superstar coming to my fav club but instead I told my friends I wish he didnt sign. PSG's problems were unsolvable by a superstar , rather acquire a handful of hardened players across the field with that money.
Ever since i was 10 watching the 2014 world cup i was heatbroken and kept on rooting for neymar. Now all i can hope is for one last surge in performance in 2 years time to finally win the world cup trophy that he deserves
In the 2016-17 season: FCB top scorers were 1.Messi (35) 2. Suarez (25) 3. Neymar (11). Neymar was below Messi and Suarez. At his level and his level of belief, I can see why Ney would have left FCB at that given time. The move was not his issue more than his lack of discipline for his personal development (physical, mental).
Neymar is an embarrassment to the game with all his diving. He's what people who laugh at football picture when they think of the sport. Compare that to Messi who just keeps going even when he should rightfully have gotten a free kick.
