I'm colombian, some time ago, I reported to the authorities the case of a kid that used to sell candies in the street lights and at 8 years old he was approached by an American guy and the guy raped him, the mother of the kid is poor and the American guy took the kid in to his house to live, the kid lived with him until he because 18 this year and nobody did anything about it, nobody cared. I saw the kid smoking weed once and I asked him when did he start to smoke and he said at 8 years old when he met the America guy. It's so sad.

I'm a victim of these 'people.' I also happened to turn out to be gay, which in some ways is like twisting the knife into the wound, because a normal relationship for me is almost impossible because of my past trauma. I hope I can find something to finally ease the pain, though my partners and friends are a great step towards this goal, but I'll never be quite so ok again. As much as people tell me it's not my fault, I still feel guilty for what happened, and it's made me consider what the point of continuing to wake up in the morning even is. Thanks for listening.

I’m gay and I’ve turned in do predators in my life. Once when I was in fourth grade I found out a girl was being abused at home by her stepdad through another child. And I said we had to go out and tell the teacher. And that day on the way home on the bus there was a sheriffs department car picking her up at an old hotel that was run down where she lived. Her name was Tiara but I won’t say other information about her. I still occasionally think about her. I thought it was quite ridiculous of the cops to put the cop car out in the open and pick her up right after she got off the bus, that could lead people to talk or to put 1+1 together. The second time was when I was approximately 25 years old. And this could’ve caused me distress so I did not want to call the police department but I did anyway. A friend of mine told me he was on craigslist looking at other people who were on there for intimacy and he was offered someone who was 11. Like they said come over to hang out with me and also I have a foster kid that’s 11. Or something like that. I didn’t believe him so I made him show me the information. My friend wasn’t involved in that or anything but I do believe he was on there not just a look and laugh like he said, he was on there to cheat. But he didn’t want to admit that, and at this point it didn’t matter it was more about the crime. I said we had to call the police but he was hesitant to do so. And a short period of time I think I realized why, because it’s a police come around or especially if there’s a trial then his cheating would be exposed to his spouse and I would not be fun have to be involved in the court process and air out your dirty laundry of what you were doing online. But I told him we had to report it to the police. And he was not happy about it. So I thought he actually would stop being my friend. And he was also my boss at the time when I was between jobs for the first time in my life, so I thought I would lose my job too. And he’s definitely the kind of guy they just won’t pay you and make you wait and string you along if you irritate him the slightest. I say he’s my friend, but I’m using that term Leslie. He can be fun in many ways, but once I went through Financial issues for the first time in my life as an adult he saw me as “less than“ I think. And he treated me differently from there on out. Anyways, I decided I had to take action no matter what. So I called the police department and told them about it, and I didn’t wanna give them his number because I didn’t want to make him even more mad, so I told him that I talk to the police and they want to speak to him, then after he said that he called them I called the detective back to ensure that he really called because I thought he probably did not call. But to my surprise he did immediately called after I told him they were expecting his call. We never heard anything about it again. At first I thought they just didn’t care but now I think maybe it was a sting operation by the police so obviously they’re not gonna admit that does. But just now as I’m typing I’m wondering could he have downplayed what he told them since I did not give them any specifics? Could he have said I was just being overdramatic? Probably Not because he wouldn’t know what I told them previously. But anyway, I did what I needed to do and I left the rest for the next person to pick up.

God I visited Gorée every day for one month in 1982 and have no idée of this tragic fact. I was visiting a well off German family in Dakar and strangely enough they proposed that I marry their daughter who was only 13 and I was 21.
