So I don't know if you got the title wrong or what but the Slayer didn't get betrayed he broke a sentinel law just as the hell priest states if "sentinel blood is spilled you will lose all sovereignty here" and note what the king says "you cannot spill sentinel blood" which implies that the hell priest are all still considered sentinels. The Slayer broke a sentinel law and as such lost his rank or rather place among them and the sentinels took action
The Sentinals didn't really betray the Doom Slayer; "If Sentinal blood is spilled on these grounds, you will lose all sovereignty here." Esentially, Doom Slayer broke a rule that was sacred to the Sentinals, hence why they raise their spears at him.
Well actually those Sentinels were the ones who sided with the Maykrs during the Sentinel civil war, rather than siding with the Slayer after it was revealed that the Maykrs were in cahoots with the demons producing Argent energy. The only reason they hadn't attacked him in the first place was because he had been a king and according to their laws they couldn't attack him unless he spilled their blood on their own land. They were waiting for an opportunity to attack him the entire time.
Yeah. If anything, HE turned against THEM. They didn't betray him. He is the one who changed. The rule are still BS and he had no choice unless he were to go away like the Khan Maykr asked, but he was explicitly told those rules and did it anyway.
@@GZilla311 those were the sentinels that stayed loyal to the Khan maykr so in all reality, neither betrayed each other, they were enemies the whole time
acevitamin no they aren’t if they were then how come souls respawn in hell, as the universe dictates nothing can be created or destroy only transformed, so bad you spawn in hell do right you spawn in heaven, that how the doom universe works
People think that Samuel Hayden is actually Samur Maykr, the seraphim that gave doomguy his powers and turned him into the doomslayer. He seems to know a bit too much about a place that only maykrs could access, and human scientists have said that his robotic body runs on alien tecnology. That same body was then able to instantly link to the fortress of doom, which runs on sentinel/maykr tech. This would also explain why he insisted on retrieving doomguy's sarcophagus in the first game and knew exactly where to look to find it. Pretty conspicuous if you ask me.
@@outbreakperfected9374 An interesting theory, however it is stated on Doom 2016 that Samuel Hayden had a very well-documented life before his mechanical body. He was the chairman of the UAC ever since the construction of the Argent tower, served as a successful philanthropist and intellectual, not to mention that the Hayden family is a very well-known and influential one.
As i understand it, there are two sentinels: the ones who are loyal to Khan Maykr, and the Original Sentinel who did not... I do hope there's still some left of the latter.
Can't really blame them. Even if the priests are corrupted, like the King said, they are still sentinel blood. Doom Slayer killed one of their own, thus breaking a sacred law that is considered sacrilege.
@@Sanek-gw4cv all Sentinels (Commoner and King alike) are directly loyal to the Kahn Maykr and her Priests. She's their God Queen of sort. Doomguy still broke the Holy Law of Argenta by spilling Holy Blood on Sentinel Grounds, therefore loosing all his given sovereignty to the Sentinels as the King of the NS's. All I'm saying is: Play the Game and read the Codex.
Papounator but if you actually read the codex you will see that a civil war broke out, with the makyrs and priests on one side with argent energy, and king novik and night sentinels on the other using sentinel energy (or wraith energy). So you read the codex lol.
M P but, in a lore picture depicting loyalists and deag-sentinels, you have the marauder-looking armour pattern facing off the classic armour patterns (the one’s seen in DOOM 2016), yet we see the deag sentinels in doom eternal also using this classic sentinel armour.
The betrayer and Slayer seems more like captain in the king guards ranks there armor design seems different how they look but they have almost the same look except with the helmet, gauntlet in the right arm, and wrist blade
The reason for this is give in the codex pages. The knights no longer wanted to use anything from Hell or it's energy once they discovered that Argent Energy was made in hell from the souls of their brothers and sisters. Thus they go back to the classic armor and weapons that are inferior to the new armor crafted from Argent that the Order of Deag and the slayer use. They saw this as being pure even though the Argent weapons are far superior. In the end this is also why they fell.
Yea and he can carry 12 sentinal batteries by putting them who knows where and carry 10 different giant guns including a big fucking gun with only one of them being visible at a time.
They didn't betray him, that's why he left without fighting a single one of them, for none of them were corrupted save for the priests. Doom guy knew very well he was making a transgression in their culture by doing what he did. Still one thing remains if you start to speculate and think ( by this point he killed two priests already, so the sentinels knew very well why he was there, they even said "alert the priest", yet they still let him in knowing fully well what he meant to do and also knowing they can't really stop him. So in reality they let him violate the sacred law, yet after he did violate it they had to act ( that's why you see them encircling him ). Bottom line is if they didn't want him to get to the priest, he would have to fight trough them from the start. But i think they still respected him since he was once their king.
@@frostbite5081 well we will have to wait for the next one to clear things up, still at the end of credits your hear King Novik ( which disapproved with your actions early in the game ) yet now he says your will shall be their sword, which kinda sounds like in the end he approved you protecting humanity + Maykrs might be demons as we saw under the masks, so now sentinels knowing that basically the people who were supposed to help them doomed Argent D'nur might side with doomguy.
They obey the law, so they can't harm or stop Slayer at any capacity. They go aganst him ONLY because he spilled the sentinel blood on the area. If he'd killed the last priest anywhere else they'd still treat him with his signature line on their language: Kar En Tuk(Rip And Tear)
@@normaaliihminen722 Hahaha they aren't ANGELS, that's also true bro! So... they cheat posing as angels but they aren't, I would say they're pretty demonic to me!
As everyone is saying in the comments, they didn't really betray him as he broke the law. However that's not to say Doom Slayer wasn't betrayed in another way. The Sentinels he faced sided with hell and the Mayker and spat in the face of all they once stood for in the name of gaining power that hell would give them. In doing so they betrayed Doom Slayer and he was free once more to fight for Humanity instead of the people who took him in and then threw their lot in with the Demons.
@@apathyreaper5323 Actually, not all the currently alive sentinels are traitors, the Sentinels who were traitors are what we know in the game as "The Marauders".
Didn’t he get sent to hell along with a regiment of Night Sentinels to die because they wouldn’t follow what the Khan was doing and she knew it. Except that the Doom Slayer and his Sentinels are such badasses that Khan had to drop a temple on them to stop them.
This aspect of Doom Eternal shows that inside, Doomguy is still the same human he's been since Doom 1. Despite being granted godlike power, and a new place to call home, Doomguy will always consider Earth his home, and he will commit sacrilege to save it if he has to.
Connect the pattern those sentinels who we see in doom 2016 are the one who fight alongside with the slayer with the unholy crusade while the sentinels in doom eternal are bunch of pure followers of the priest and the maker.
No not really. So basically, at the very start, the priests gave them power, and since the priests were sentinel blood, they were supposed to serve them. However, they found out the power that they gave them was Argent energy, which came from tortured souls. After alerting the whole sentinel force about this, they split into two factions, the first are the loyalists who were horrified by the discovery and continued serving the king (loyalists were the Faction that helped Doom guy on his crusade) and then there was Order of the Deag, which is the sentinels you see here, they continued serving the priests and the Khan Makyr
To be fair, They DIDN’T attack the doomslayer even after he killed the priest they just kinda encircled him. They didn’t even try to stop him from leaving either. Though that may be because they knew doomslayer could easily kill them all if he felt like it.
You know, there was an easy solution that Slayer didnt seem to think of. Open portal, drag the Priest into Fortress, murder him there. No sentinel blood is spilled on sacred ground that way.
Doom guy: You betrayed me. Sentinel: Wait that’s not how this works, you spilled blood your the one- Doom Slayer: You betrayed ME. Sentinel: .... oh fuk, we betrayed him....
i'm shocked this game actually succeeded in the story department. I never thought Id would pull that off. I thought the plot would just be background noise, dressing, but it actually comes together, even if it takes a while.
They betrayed him first. There are 2 factions, those who fought with Doom Slayer and those who sided with the Hell Priests and Khan Makyr. Obviously, the ones who sides with Doom Slayer are all dead except The Betrayer and well...Doom Slayer himself. Khan Makyr, the Hell Priests and all the Sentinels knew and realized from the moment Doom Slayer started telling of his existence to Khan Makyr, that he solely exist to eradicate, rip and tear any and all demons, yet they sided with the demons and wanted more power, which well, is against their rules. Not only did they step on their rules, they stomped it till it was disintegrated and they spat in Doom Slayer's face by siding with demons...which well...was a bad idea...very. bad. idea...
he didnt betray them, they were just protecting or on the priests side and doom guy killed him to stop control, but they didnt betray him, none of them betrayed each other.
Doom guy: Hates demons because they killed his rabbit Also Doom guy: Sentinals betray him because he has spilled holy blood on their grounds And they say this isn’t John Wick
We have to give Doom Slayer some credit here. He could have gotten back everything he lost, yet chose to live without it so that he could save humanity.
More like Slayer betraying the Sentinels, lol. Don't get me wrong, his actions were just. But the creed still stands, you spill Sentinel Blood, you are no longer a Sentinel.
@@thetalonking7233 Yeah, the priest said it himself. "If sentinel blood is spilled on these grounds..." meaning he could've just yoinked him, took him through a portal from VEGA then yeet his ass
King Novik : listen to me Slayer , just walk away ! Hell priest : Yeah slayer , just walk.......Bang !!! King Novik : what have you done ??! Doom Slayer : Finished it !
It was talking about EVERYTHING, his sanity, his home, his family and daisy of course, but he already know how Khan deals work from what they did to Valen's son.
During the sentinel war against the demons, Doom Slayer alongside the Night Sentinels found a factory in Hell, it was obvious it was constructed with Makyr designs, the truth was told, the Khan Makyr did a pact with the Dark lords, letting them cull their domains in exchange for more argent energy. After discovering the treachery of their gods the people of Argenta broke into civil war, the night sentinels alongside the royal family, the deag order and the Doom Slayer fought against those followers of the Khanc, they were blinded by argent energy. The followers were denied of their place in paradise and rather they became Marauders dark knights serving under Hell armies. The war lasted of many years until the insurgent forces where betrayed by the order of Deag, leading the most elite of the night sentinels into their doom in Hell. Only the slayer survived and the betrayed whom was tricked by the demonic forces to reveal the location of the sleeping wraiths, marking the end of the opposition, leaving the people of Argenta be enslaved by the Khan Markyr.
The Doom Slayer just killed Deag Grav, the final Hell Priest, in breach of the Night Sentinel code, thus sacrificing his respect admiration and bonds from the surviving knights. This causes the rest of the Night Sentinels to turn on him - his reaction? To leave. He was once their brother in arms, and he can't fault them for sticking to their word, but he simply leaves without a single shot fired or word said. It's a very somber and sad reminder that when you decide to Screw The Rules, to do right things there is a cost to be paid 7:06
At around 4:00 what is that giant armor/mech suit in the background. I haven’t really gone into doom lore since I’m pretty new to the series so if it’s something obvious I’m sorry
Can we all take a moment to talk about the fact that the motherfucking Doomguy had KNEELED to the King of Sentinel Prime? Like what kind of Man you got to be to earn the Respect of the Doom Slayer who has made all of Hell his bitch and not only Respect you but to kneel to you. Why is no one talking about this?
Sentinels: *rushes into the room* Doom Slayer: Ho, mukatte kuru no ka? Nigezu ni kono SUREIYA ni chikadzuite kuru no ka... sekkaku sofu no Novik ga watashi no sekai' no shōtai o, shiken shūryō chaimu chokuzen made mondai o hodoite iru jukensei no yōna hisshi koita kibun de oshiete kureta to iu no ni?!
One thing I don’t get: If they knew Doomguy was here to kill the last Priest, why is it that they let him through after his arrival without stopping him in any way and only sent warning to the Priest? And after he killed him THEN they decide to try and stop him?
The doomslayer is a sentinel, and according to sentinel law, he was protected by sovereignty on sentinel prime grounds. As the priest said, only when sentinel blood is spilled on these holy grounds will he lose that sovereignty, which is exactly what happened.
The sentinels work under the same modus operandi as the doomguy, they rip and tear shit, they didn’t rush him cuz they know who he is, they just kinda showed up to politely ask him to fuck off.
Reminds me of John Wick... The most dangerous, feared and respect in his group... But then betrayed by them and being forced to kill in continental/sentinel grounds...
