Thank you Ted and Carol. Yes, it is so quiet compared to the Cotswold Way, but only hour and a half from Birmingham on the train. I am really surprised by how little this route has been walked. Thanks again Paul 🙂👍
Hello Paul - greetings from Poland. You're right! - that was a challenging walk. Not only the terrain was against you but the poor upkeep of the signs and gates didn't help either. I was surprised at the beginning of todays walk just how wide the river was. The up and down walk over beautiful farmland was pleasuresome. What fantastic views. The trees and woodland helped to bring peace and tranquility as we walked. I really liked Fachwen Pool. What a delightful spot. Again, the width of the river was even broader at Newtown. Lovely to be able to see and stand next to the waters edge and enjoy the sights and sounds of the the river running by. A wonderful video with the perfect commentary in your usual calm and relaxed style. Gorgeous. Thanks so much
Thank you Michael. Yes, although it was challenging, I did enjoy it. I thought that the island in the river was lovely and a fitting end to this video. May be a little while for part 5, due to the very hot weather in England and Wales at the moment. Thanks again, Paul 🙂👍
Hi Paul, enjoying this series, very beautiful, and well filmed. The Severn has matured quite a bit at this point. Don't expect you are doing as much walking in this heat. Be careful. Ron
Thank you Ron. Sorry I haven't caught your latest vlog yet. Yes, the heat has stalled my progress along the Way temporarily. I hope to restart on Thursday for filming all being well. Hope you are well and managing to keep cool ❄️ in the heat. Great to hear from you and glad you enjoyed the video. Take care, Paul 👍🙂
Hi Paul! The Severn way looks like a lovely place to walk through. That lake was really beautiful. Hope the weather has become a bit cooler where you are.
Thank you Donna. Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, thankfully, it has got cooler now, and I walked Severn Way 5 yesterday in lovely mild weather conditions. Should be published tomorrow. Thanks for watching and commenting. Take care, Paul 🙂👍
Wonderful video, once again it was a top class video with lots of very interesting narrative and information.. am glad your enjoying the walk as we are watching it but those flies 😬😬 take care mate and thank you 👍🏻
Hi Paul, another beautiful walk again. Unfortunately it would not be a walk for me these days as I think I have warn my feet, legs and knees out. This is the problem when you get to your late 70's after a misspent youth and well into my 40's. Now my walking is restricted to more level ground unfortunately. You can certainly see far more of the landscape when you're on foot than when you are driving. Spent quite a few happy hours in Newtown in my misspent youth 😂but now the main road is a bypass so no longer need to visit it. I'm slowly catching up on your series. Take care on your travels and stay safe.
Thank you John, and glad you are enjoying the series. My feet and legs were hurting after completing Severn Way 7 the other day! Will I make it to Bristol?! Still, nearly at Shrewsbury now - one third done. Thanks again, Paull.
Another nice video Paul 👍 Although it doesn't seem to be shown on any map I've seen, there is a second route of the Severn Way, on the west side of the river. At Over, just opposite the turning for the Lock Keepers, there is a public path to the river, there are then signs for the Severn Way in places. A lot of the route is on top of the flood bank, which makes it very quiet and a lovely walk 😀👍
Thank you! Glad you are enjoying the Severn Way series. I have had to put it on hold for a little while due to the very hot weather - I'll resume when things are a little cooler. It will be sometime, possibly next year, before I get down as far south as Gloucestershire to do that section. I am aware of the alternative route - thank you for the information though. I will be in that area soon to do Maisemore for my Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Canal series. Cheers, Paul 🙂👍
@@westcountrywanderings Really enjoying it, thought about doing it, but never have. Don't blame you with the recent weather 🥵 I'm often visiting both sides of the river in my day job, between Tewks and Lydney, Tewks and Purton on the east, if you're after any info on places that might be more difficult to visit, I'd be happy to help if I can 😀👍
