So I was visiting La Casa de Castle and I thought it would be fun to shoot a little video with Nick showing off his screen used Michael Myers mask that he wore in Halloween 2018. So here ya go!
NetherRealm 666 It does look similar to the rob zombie mask but the shape of the mask in the 2018 version is much more closer to the O.G. mask from '78 than the rob zombie mask.
@Fatty Drake it's not a matter of finding it, it's long gone due to how old it is and rotting overtime. You can look it up nowadays, it looks all fallen apart
Man this is a great close up. So many screenshots I generated a 3d model. Thank you frank. I wish they did the same video to the 78 mask but that was a long time ago and the mask is rotting instead of being restored as it should be
@@michaelmyers5027 if Tom Spina can restore the Halloween 5 mask and it looks just as good as when the movie was released then they restore the original 78. On top of that another man restored an old latex piece from back in the day. It was the 89 Batman suit. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kXJtTfxgJGE.html
The 2018 mask looks great when Nick wears it. It's got that elongated stretch when he wears it, making it actually look like the original but aged. Really awesome.
I did notice how, in the face-to-face shot of Nick and James grabbing each other by the throat, Nick looked like an aged version of the famous 1978 still of Michael choking Laurie in the hallway. I wish he'd done more scenes in the 2018 film. However, James Jude Courtney was excellent, and probably the second best Michael of all time, with Dick Warlock not far behind.
@@pilummurialis6490 I believe Moran only did the "reveal". When Jamie pulls up the mask, it's Nick...then, the camera angle changes, and the next shot is Tony's face.
I love how Nick cares about the mask like that...that mask is the most badass thing ever! (Btw tell him to put a plastic bag over the styrofoam head and then put the mask on top of that to prevent the styrofoam from eating away at the latex🎃🔪🤘)
@@campbloodslasher5900 yes if it's left on a raw styrofoam head or styrofoam object without any protection it'll dry the latex out and start to ear away at it
@@MK-ng6wu Styrofoam doesn't really effect latex, but It drys out vinyl and makes it crunchy and deformed. The Styrofoam will actually melt to the vinyl masks, which is why so many Don Post masks from the 60's and 70's that were on styrofoam are all rock hard and brittle now. Hope this clears the air a bit.
Nick Castle has to be one of the coolest, down to earth guys. Not big headed at all. He simply appreciates the opportunity and just as much or maybe even more appreciates what he was involved in has created such a fan base and cult phenomenon. Just appreciative of everybody and everything. 👍
What a legend and what a great guy! He’s still the one and only Michael Myers in my book, so glad they brought him back to reprise his role! Awesome seeing the mask up close, thanks Sean!👍🎃
@@franksemyon5855 YEAH I AGREE ITS A GREAT FILM AND WAY TOO UNDERRATED IVE HAD THE PLEASURE OF MEETING TOM ATKINS AND GETTING THE CHANCE TO SPEAK WITH HIM HE IS SUCH A GREAT GUY
Oh how I wish Nick would’ve played more of The Shape in the 2018 film. I so wanted to see that unique gait again! The mask is iconic, but Mr. Castle’s walk is also a huge part of the character.
I think James did a great job and pretty much got it right. He also looks a lot more menacing under the mask with that dead eye. I agree though, you can’t replace Nick.
Nick was never a stunt guy. Carpenter just loved how Nick walked and that's how he became 'The Shape' back in the original. JJC is a stuntman and to me personally, he had Nick's movements, but also had the ferocity of Tyler Mane when it came to the kills.
I'm confident that he knows whether it is fine or not and I have stored latex masks on the same displays for my haunted attraction for the 17 years in the industry and have never had any problems. It depends more on the quality of the mask and the latex blend used than the head it is displayed on.
James Courtney did a excellent job in both movies.......BUT, why not have Nick Castle play Michael Myers the whole entire movie? It just makes more sense
I personally feel like the more details and wrinkles and dirt it has the less scary it is. It’s all about the simplicity of the mask in the original I think. The whiteness of it. Blankness. That said, having it weathered and worn makes absolute sense, continuity-wise, for a film set 40 years later, and I’d take this mask over any of the sequel masks post-Halloween II (1981) any old day of the week.
I met Mr Castle at the Weekend of Hell in Dortmund 2019. I was cosplaying as a 78 Michael and went to get an autograph in full costume. A really cool dude that values the legendary character he had the honor to portray.
@malfuncsean I met you at Monster Mania in Hunt Valley, MD. Dude, keep up the good work. I've always been a fan. Hopefully, when all this craziness with the virus dies down and things begin to get back to normal and Dave has MM again, I hope you make it back to Hunt Valley.
You can just tell its the OG Nick Castle behind the mask because of the Shape it takes (no pun intended) when it sits on his face, as opposed to James Jude Courtney's face behind the mask.
Nick Castle’s mask look exactly like 78 mask with more age, and it looks way better. It’s too bad he played The Shape for one particular scene. Although James Jude Courtney played Michael Myers’ brutish side. It was Nick Castle who nailed The Shape himself.
It would be great to see Nick wear that with a pair of Big Mac or Sears Tradewear coveralls, especially with how he has to adjust it to fit his face so he could see
Sean, I was wondering if you could clear up two things about the original Shape mask from 1978. Tommy Wallace made 3 of them, but only one survived for use in Halloween 2 and it's said to be the one Castle wore and not one of the stunt prop ones. 1. The popular story is Debra Hill had Caste's mask stored it in a box under her bed and it looked yellowed and grimy because of her heavy smoking habit. This never made sense to me. Smoke rises. If she had Castle's Shape mask in a box under her bed, it would have never been exposed to the cigarette smoke and nicotene staining. 2. Then I had heard a different story. I heard Nick had the mask all along and kept displayed it over his fireplace and that's how the mask got grimy and yellowed due to exposure to sunlight, possible fireplace smoke, heat etc. over the years. Supposedly, when Debra Hill called him to see if he wanted to be in Halloween 2 and he declined she asked if he still had the mask and if they could use it because the other copies were lost. Castle agreed to loan it only to never it get back because Dick Warlock hung onto it. 3. Also heard a rumor that the state of the mask was so bad that director Rick Rosenthal had the prop guys replace the hair with new, dark rust colored hair that when clued in place clung to the crown of the mask which is why it has the matted down, slicked back look throughout the film. Do you have any idea which is the true story?
I love that in the 2018 reboot because michael myers aged 40 years they even made his mask look like it aged with him. I have the halloween kills mask and the classic 1978 one both rehauled and I love the new design almost as much as the original 1978 one.
Anyone know anyone who rehaul this mask for a decent price.Trick or treat studios makes a decent one that I seen bought and sent in to an artist to rehaul
