Shimano make absolutely fantastic reels i actually own 6 different Shimano reels but please, one line reducer. The UK market doesn't need deep spools on reels so come on Shimano get your act together
The first thing I noticed about this reel is its weight ru-vid.comUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I wouldn't say it was uncomfortable but it was a little heavier than other similarly sized reels. However, that didn't deter my enjoyment of how smooth this reel is. I spooled it with 20lb. Tuf-Line XP and it's perfect for what I use it for. I have it paired with an 8'6" Medium/Fast Okuma SST Salmon/Steelhead rod. The combination is perfect for casting and even drifting. I used the reel all day and didn't experience any arm or hand fatigue except when fighting a few fish! The bail is solid and feels strong when engaging by reeling and manually closing the bail by hand. The large rubber handle grip is very comfortable. It's got a powerful drag, silky smooth reeling, and feels very comfortable in the hands. I recommend it!
You are a bit wrong about the importance of the winding ratio.The winding ratio will give you the power of the reel and also the winding distance(in general; only some high priced quality reels work smooth enough under load to make the ratio close to meaningless). The smaller the ratio, the easyer you will bring big fish on the bank,but the speed will be quite slow wich means that you will have to reel more and crank quite a few times more than on a fast ratio reel and viceversa. For example, if you are in a search for a catfish reel you need a verry strong, slow ratio reel , 1:4.0-4.7. For float fishing (i dont float fish) medium speed is needed, like 1:5.0-5.4 shoult be quite ok in my humble opinion. For asp fishing you will need a speedier reel , about 1;5,4-6.0 but in that case when you care too much for your gear, should work the fish mainly from the rod tip.For feeders it depends where you are fishing. On a lake, ratio can be quite high for fast retrieving, but on a big river like the Danube with so many snags(there is no point for long casts) you will need again a powerfull reel, 1:5.2 should be the max ratio. In the end is like you said, crank faster and you`ll get speed ,but for lure fishing some will say that the control of the lure is not the same. Coming back to your reel ,a slow ratio means it is a powerfull reel too. So, let the big ones come, you are ready! Cheers mate!

I’ve got two c500s and agree they are fantastic reels the issue I have with the spool spacer is it’s not round! If you put the two half’s together before putting it on the spool you’ll see it makes an oval shape.I don’t know if this affects the line lay in anyway but I didn’t use them in the end . I wonder If you could have a word with speedy and get his thoughts on it
Why have (most) reel makers done away with push-button spool release? Preston Centris still have it. The drag's not bad on those if that's the reason to not have it.
they are awesome, like what else do I need? Im using the 3000 model for light pike/zander/bass fishing and the 4000 model for the big boys @@iMackenzieee + they're aesthetically pleasing af
