I've heard said "Whenever two boats are on the water, in sight of each other, it's a race". It certainly encourages you to make maximum use of what's available, wind or sail area.

In the Netherlands, in the town of Lelystad, there is a full size replica of the Batavia. We always pass the Batavia when we are sailing. Our homeport is nearby. Great history and the people of the Netherlands are still proud of there achievements in sailing around the world.

I also see the batavia often when going sailing on the markermeer in the netherlands. Ive been sailing all my life in the netherlands and love the sailing culture. Tho with my indonesian background i look at the batavia replica differently. I see a great history of sailing, but i also imagine how we transported slaves with them and robbed indonesia. I disagree with the dutch pride of our history. We still have alot to learn in acknowledging the mistakes we made and the pain of our history is still felt by the indonesian community in the netherlands. Only when discussing the reality of our history i can be proud of the netherlands. Greets Bram

An excellent book, "Islands of angry ghosts" written by Hugh Edwards, details the story of the Batavia and the shipwreck/mutiny that occured at that site. Well worth the read.

Fantastic footage at the Batavia wreck. Always great to see the notification pop up for your videos. You never need to apologise for delays posting - the mighty algorithm may not appreciate the irregular uploads, but your fans understand the vagaries of internet coverage (and some of us would rather you focus on enjoying the journey and each other - rather than stressing about hitting an artificial schedule).

Wonderful sailing footage!!Pascale seems to be a natural racer. One boat is a sail. Two boats is a race as they say. Pascale seems very at ease handling the boat herself. Not many can do that so professionally. You both seem very comfortable regardless of the sea state. Lots of confidence in your boat is quite obvious even though she gets on the lean fairly quickly at times. Glad you are having fun while sharing such beautiful filming with us.

Well that was fun. Pascale has to work hard to make such a super smooth video I am sure. Those 400 year old cannon, think of them as loaded, as most found on shipwrecks prove to be. I build reproductions of old firearms, mostly rifles from the mid 1700's, a lot of the antique firearms are found to be loaded, the black powder just as good as when it was poured down the barrel.

We ordered the Cool Hoodies a few weeks ago and they finally arrived. So Cool. We live on south Whidbey Island in WA USA and it has a huge sailing community. Everyone loves the logo and design...which is why we ordered them in the first place. To me it seemed like they and a retro 1800s vibe which really romanticizes the sailing life. The hoodies are great quality and are so cozy for our damp winter weather here. Thanks again. Really enjoy your vids.
