@@alexandracarvalho1661 Yes I need to remember to reach out, she's brilliant! Wish she was in England so I could do this in person. Same with Marc, Aaron, Chris etc!
I remember when I was in my early 20s I went with a friend up the road from where we worked, to pick up a friend of hers. I didnt know at the time, that he was a Scientologist and was working at the city offices(Auckland NZ) so we were in the vestibule of these offices for all of 10 minutes before we were being badgered to take a “personality test” I was just like “no thanks” and we collected the guy and left. HE then started to push going in for an “audit”. I was just like “dude, not interested” but I started talking to my friend after we dropped him off. She told me she’d taken a “personality test” and they’d told her that she was “unbalanced” and had the “potential to harm herself or others”. This girl was the kindest and gentlest person I’d ever met, and these people had made her worry about whether or not she really was unbalanced. I advised her to not listen to a word they said, and that she was as stable as anyone. It stuck with me tho cos it was just so very manipulative, telling people bad things just to scare them to come back for help…..assholes. I dislike Scientology intensely.
The woman i know you couldn't wish to meet a kinder woman ,but suppose its the vunrable ,they didn't like me wouldn't by the book they had the machine with them
I'm from Auckland in NZ too and I was warned about the scientologists approaching you on the street offering questionnaires when I was a young teen in the early mid eighties to just point blank refuse because they were a manipulative cult, and I've never ever liked Tom Cruise hes a repulsive empty strange man
What I’ve never understood about Scientology is, if going clear means that you get control over your emotions and your “reactive mind,” why is Tom Cruise known for losing his cool at employees on his film sets? Sounds like he needs a refund on all of his auditing sessions!
Apostate Alex tells his story. I have not as yet seen a Brit do a RU-vid video revealing recent Cult activity in the United Kingdom of the last 15 or so years. This is a FIRST ! High Fives and salutations ! Good job Andrew and Alex😀❤🙏
4:23 hey I'm from America and I just wanted to let you know that I am absolutely addicted to your channel I am so happy for you and hope that you get that hundred thousand subscribers soon🎉 I would love to see you do an in-depth dies on Meghan Markle pre Harry because I can tell you that nobody in America likes her but we all feel sorry for her today because she has let all his demons out and has brainwashed him so badly that I'm hoping that the United States will not let him back in when he goes because if you have anything to do with drugs you can come back in and then maybe he can get the help he needs and get back with his family
Me too. I'm in Australia and watching the videos is so interesting. Love the questions and how you sit and patiently wait for the speaker roll out all the information. Fantastic Andrew.
When I went to scientologists, they answered 0 questions, they'd just prompt to buy a book. I thought this was very unprofessional. Now I start to think, they weren't really interested because we were teenagers back then and they could see that we didn't have too much money.
Nicole doesn’t talk about her children with Cruise. I’m not sure if she talks to them. The kids are adopted. Kidman has never said anything bad about the church. The rumour was that Cruise didn’t show up to the Oscars was because Kidman was going. Now if that’s true, she has some power over that man.
That wasn't the reason he didn't show up. He probably didn't show up because he felt they are now a clown show he didn't wish to participate. That is the adult guess.
We are in a court matter of neighbour bullying. The bully is a Scientologist who took the aged victims to court claiming that they are the bullies. Your videos have taught me much in how to deal with thos monster at court
That whole thing about stats having to go up every week was one of the things that made me want to leave. Being a reasonable person (?) I realized that it’s impossible to keep expanding like that. Everything reaches an equilibrium eventually. The fact that Scientology doesn’t recognize that made me think they were full of 💩!
This video was so informative! I appreciate Alex sharing his story! He has so much courage to step up and speak his truth!!!Thanks so much to both of you for this video!
Bella Cruise is the adopted daughter of Nicole and Tom. Tom has only one biological child - Suri w/Katy Holmes. It was a huge deal when she had her b/c rumors swirled that Tom couldn't have biological kids (Mimi Rogers had none and Nicole adopted). And, from what I understand, Tom wasn't much of a dad to Bella either - allowing Scientology to basically raise her. I don't think she had much parenting from anyone.
Yes, and both Mimi and Nicole magically had biological kids after divorcing Cruise... not speculating too hard but I still think Katie either had extensive IVF or used a donor that looked like Tom in order to quiet those rumors that were going around. Also Tom only claims 3 kids - the two that he adopted with Nicole, and then Suri. (ETA: typo)
Nicole actually was in the early stages of pregnancy when Tom packed up the house and kids and left her right after their 10th Anniversary......... she had no idea he was leaving her, and the stress made her miscarriage.
I think the billion year contract would be a sticking point for me. Maybe I could spare 750 million years, but I was looking forward to at least 250 million, to wind down without any commitments. 😂
Isn't it beautiful in Florida today? I'm in SW Florida and I don't remember when it was this temperature this time of year! It's so cool LoL I am kidding kinda. It's cool for FL.
Would LOVE to see you and Alex visit an org! I enjoyed your interview with him immensely. Nice to see Scientology from an English point of view. ❤ from San Diego!
Dear Andrew, I have a question. When you have Scientology insiders, can you please ask them how they take care about their elderly? Like Jews, you know, they have centers, they care for people, when they are in need, they do charity,....they care for your funeral...what do Scientologist do? Thank you. XX
Great discussion. 💜 Something I think that doesn’t get mentioned enough when discussing L Ron Hubbard is that he was a *pulp fiction* writer & wrote in all sorts of genres under various pseudonyms. Romance, western, sci fi, he did it all & was paid a penny a word. His books were the inexpensive sort sold in checkout lines at drug stores & the like. 📖 He still holds the Guinness world record for most prolific writer. He had a special affinity for sci fi, as did most of his friends who were writers, and they’d meet often & spin tales with each other. I’m sure by his very plagiaristic nature he “borrowed” plenty of ideas from those around him. Wouldn’t it be fun to be a fly on the wall in those days? I think it trained him so he could come up with pretty fantastical stuff on a moment’s notice when he eventually turned his attention to Scientology.
I read a lot of his SF as a child so when I eventually heard about Dianetics I simply couldn't take it seriously. In the early seventies I came across other SF writers exploring the theme of messiahs and prophets. I think Robert Silverberg was one. They depicted cynical salespeople putting on a messianic facade and also truthful dupes being manipulated by politicians. I think I've been innoculated against cults from a young age.
I'm Australian and I was curious why Scientology is legally treated as a religion. It all flowed from one legal case decided by three justices of the High Court, the highest court in the country. All three agreed it doesn't matter if the founder of the religion was a charlatan who considered it a mere money-making scam, they must decide the case on the basis of whether its adherents considered it their religion. Which they concluded was so. So it looks like we're stuck with them as a religion for a very long time because it's hard to imagine how their decision, for those reasons, ever gets overturned. 😞
Yes because by that legal decision, they just legitimized cults. By definition the adherents to a cult believes that it's a religion. So the only thing to do is to revisit the legal premise and change the legal definition, which they absolutely should do because it's nonsensical to determine the intent and nature of an organization through the beliefs of its members who are clearly brainwashed.
@@Justicia007 If only it were that simple. The prohibition against anything that restricts the free exercise of any religion is in the Constitution. That's not going to change. And yes, they did legitimize cults, and they did so deliberately. Their decision states, "Charlatanism is a necessary price of religious freedom."
@@rossmurray6849 I don't really know too much about the Australian legal system. Sounds like there's a similar constitution to ours here in the US? Because even though we have decisions here that may seem set in stone, The court is free to accept a case with a similar but slightly different issue and clarify or even change their position and therefore change law.
I stand behind that court decision, as it seems just. All religions are religions. Either consider all of them not eligible for tax deduction, or none. There are a few ground pillars and if a group meets those, we gotta accept.
Great interview, Andrew. Thanks for speaking out, Alex. Very interesting. I don't feel it's necessary to visit Scientology, Andrew. There are enough people coming forward, just interview them. 💜
It took me a quick hot minute to remember you’re both British so you can actually sit in a room together 😅 The different format threw me haha but it’s a nice change though 🙂
Dude was sucked in the same way I was. Watched the 2007 BBC documentary, became curious, bought Dianetics and was transported by it. Difference is that I found the people to be really weird and kept them at arms length, thankfully.
@@flowerjpotter1629 Off-putting intensity to the majority of them, seemed to have no real interest in anything unrelated to the subject itself. Also turned off by attempts at pressure selling when I ended up surrounded by four people in a small room trying to sell me another course. That was the final straw for me. Blessing in disguise, if they were any warmer as human beings I’d probably have been far more malleable.
@@toph8298I’ve read the majority of dianetics out of curiosity and expanding on that sense of wonder, how the hell did it transport you? I transported mine straight to the bin honestly.
Would love to see you & Alex do a visit to an Org in the U ❤. I took my Mike Rinder bobble head to the Birmingham Org to get a pic for Marc & Claire....massive car park but only 3 cars & didn't see a soul. I was still scared though 😅😅
I never understood the appeal Scientology has for some people on a personal level. I got hold on a copy of "Dianetics' in 1988 as an adolescent (in the GDR even) and saw through the bullshit right away. Took me just a couple of pages. I agree that they're praying on the vulnerable. However, though I would not fall for their BS, I would say I was still vulnerable as a young man. I guess, you've got to be vulnerable a CERTAIN WAY so that you might be in danger becoming a victim of them. 'Victim' I think is the key word here. People who fall for their lies are victims. I don't feel the need for looking down on them, because I was lucky to be vulnerable in a different (maybe just a little less than them) way. If you say that you under no circumstances couldn't have ended up being fooled by them - if you're not vulnerable at all; good for you! But it's the result of lucky circumstances that you happened to grew up in. Righteous anger against that evil cult is necessary to bring it down. Certainly! But equally necessary is empathy and compassion for the victims.
Very thankful to you Andrew! You are educating us, your followers, about a very important matter, essential to everyone: religion. The dangers,or let’s call it, “dark side”, of some beliefs in the context of cults. To be truthful all cults make shiver.
Yeah! You guys are together!! Love you both. Tom and Nicole didn’t have any bio kids. The only bio kid Tom has is Suri. Nicole had a miscarriage right before Tom filed for divorce.
Seven years later and I am still operating on Scientology principles. It still effects my thinking, my behaviour etc. And quite franckly a part of me does not want to let go because the personality overlay that it created ensures that I can no longer be hurt or controlled. I had alot of anxiety before Scientology which I no longer have. I can't even begin to explain the mind xxxx . I feel like I have lived in multiple Sci-fi movies like equilibrium, the giver etc.
Humankind doesn't need cults like Scientology we all can create our own reality just by meditating and being present with oneself! Imagination creates!
@@apostatealex Thank you Alex. I had my comments turned off for months and only see this now. Have you been able to unravel the mental effect Scientology had on you yet? Is there an estimated timeline to when I will begin to feel like my kind empathetic former self? I was also part of GAT II
Why did Alex Barnes GO BACK to Scientology after he left the first time? He joined staff TWICE. Couldn't have been that bad as he went back. He told everyone he was leaving as he got a job and needed the money so couldn't stay on staff. There was no big deal about it. Why is he making up drama that did not happen?
Tom and Peneople were never married. He was married to Mimi Roger's until 1990, then married Nicole Kidman the same year, divorcing in 2001. He was in a pretty serious relationship with Penenople from 2001 to 2004. He then married Katie Holmes. The children that he and Nicole share are adopted. The children were raised in scientology while Nicole wasn't involved. After the split they were asked who they wanted to live with and they said their dad. Then of course Nicole is labeled an SP even though she wasn't all those years. Imagine the heartbreak of losing your children that way. Nicole stated she miscarried either twice or three times while married to Cruise. Funny how she managed to keep her children to full term with no trouble with Keith Urban.
Apparently she continued to have problems. One daughter was carried by a surrogate. After everything she went through her children must know how cherished they are. ❤
The fact that David Miscaviage was so threatened by and concerned about Kidman, and seemingly not concerned at all with Holmes, tells u all you need to know about those two very distinctly different marriages.
@Timothy Mc Yes, same as why the Beckhams distanced themselves from Cruise. He was coming on really strong and pushing to hard for them to join Scientology. Many others have said similar things. Kidman has previously alluded to it, albeit somewhat vaguely.
My sister and her first year uni chums did one of those diabetic personality tests in the mid 1980s. Her results were that she was too happy and they didn’t have anything to sell her. Imagine a cult who wants to recruit everyone rejected her!!!!!
Scientology plays on the same impulse that people have for self help books, it's a spectrum obviously but when something appears to help and work it can suck you in.
I watched a video of some young adults went into a Scientology building the guy had glasses with the camera in them. It is the funniest videos ever. He really went full blown extra 😂😂😂
Oh, I missed this premiere. Thanks Alex! His story of how he got in was interesting, for sure. I think it was his age and that maybe he needed to feel like he belonged to something- At that age, belonging is very important, no? Also, there is a powerful lure to the idea of belonging to something secret. It makes you feel special. Anyhow, I have a really hard time reconciling the fact that Scientology exists in England. And that the St. Hill is a Manor House😐 I don't even want to look at what it looks like... I want a Manor House(and a castle wouldn't be so bad, either😏)for me! It's no fair Hubbard got to have one! And for his nonsense group, too
It’s so confusing that the brits call high school, college 😂 can you imagine meeting a young woman/ man/ boy/ girl and they say I’m in college so you thinking they at least 18 or up when they really 15-16 years old 😭
We owned a building in Sunderland that had Scientology as a tenant. After some time they stopped paying rent so we sent the bailiff to East Grinstead and got paid there. The empty offices had a bank of five showers….always wondered what that was about.
WOW, Joanne I would LOVE to hear more about this - Is there any chance you could get in touch with me please? My email is in the description of my vids & on my channel About page
I used to walk past that building as an adolescent and I was tempted to go in based on the posters in the window. Thank goodness I was too shy to go in!
These critical thinkers, who don’t trust journalists, and think they know it better. Then do their own research and step in the trap! Think on your own isn‘t a good advice to many people!
